Ive seen a lot of 20 minute videos of video games that never came to be. Here's one example

I couldn't put that any better. The video was scripted it is obvious it looks more like a in-game cinematic then game play by far. I'd like to see game elements, because a game isn't a game without core elements in which we seen none.

Like I said, a beta does not mean that the game is not vaporware. Read what I said in a few posts up.
If I ever said that, I'm sorry and wrong. But I don't think I did. Anyhow. Having a beta doesn't prove it is VW either. Right ? Who has the right to demand proof ? You or me ? You have no proof whatsoever it's VW. Should I demand it from you ?

I'm not saying this because graphics or gameplay sucked. I'm saying this only because they did what the fanbase said and nothing more. A good company would've added even MORE info about the game. Hell make a dev talk about this game for 30sec-1min and I'll disagree with everything I just said. It just needs more than people playing.
So now it's bad for the company to listen their fanbase? Sure, go have fun with Sony Online Entertainment, then.
A dev talk for 30sec-1min? Just go read all of the Warcry Darkfall journals, I bet they cover over two hours of dev speak.
If they actually have a 30 sec dev talk, you'd be whining for a long game play vid, right?
To be honest Aventurine have a Dev plan and the Beta and Video wer on that plan. Trying to make out it was the community that caused them to produce it is rubbish.
That said when they get to the point where they can show more they have done and that always happens on the Official Site.
Well done Aventurine and the DF Dev team lets now roll onto the Open Beta.

Enigma is just trolling plain and simple he doesn't even know what he is calling Vaporware anymore. This forumn just seems to have professional Haters/Trolls who seem to hate the idea that some people like the idea of DF, so strange. Trying to create misery from nothing to feed their selfish lifes.
Anyway one more time HUrah HUrah HUrah for Aventurine and their efforts, nice to see a minow trying their best.

I typically agree with your philosophy and ideas, but I'm wondering why you think they'd go to all this trouble to make vaporware. It just doesn't seem logical.
On a side note, I'll be happy if Darkfall delivers without great graphics. Graphics are just eye-candy to me and quickly fall by the wayside.
Normally I would typicall agree with you, but this game screame Mourning, Age of Mourning, Realms of Torment to me. They even came out with a beta, used the same publisher Darkfall is using and then at the last minute, the company pulled the plug, took the monies and left.
You should google it. Hell even do a search for it here at mmorpg.com. Theres a 400 page thread on this company and everyone who loved the game was saying the SAME EXACT THING as those who like Darkfall is saying. In the end, those loyal fans of Mourning lost out of 60 bucks and the owner laughed all the way to the bank.

used the same publisher are you crazy?
btw no pre orders and everyone willg et to tryt he game before paying a dime so your theroy went out the window
This is the second time I've come across someone saying Darkfall has the same publisher as <random MMO here> That's not true, in fact that's quite impossible.
Here's why (and listen for those who still play the vapor card):
Audio Visual just made another press release, announcing the final details of its publication with Aventurine, actually stating to its stock holders that they're creating a new division of their company to distribute Aventurine's online mmorpg, DARKFALL, in Europe.
Plain and simple, no way around it. Unless you have some strange distorted definition of vaporware, you're wrong.
And not that it will make a difference, I talked to Brannoc and he confirmed that every one of those people in the shots were being played by other people. And where's the UI? You can see the UI several times, and its consistant with the UI screenshots we already have. And here you go, the UI shots from the video.

theres only ONE small section of UI...not in many parts
As for what Enigma said about Mourning...yeah i can see DF going down that path...even going as far as to getting money out of the fans after it launches then just shutting down and disappearing and its all too easy especially if they are doing their own publishing...god i cant wait to see what happens next lol.

The lack of common sense in these quotes is amazing.
1) They have a publisher signed that has absolutly no bad press associated with it. That is not even the most ridiiculous thing in this thread though...
2) If you actually think that a dev team would work for years to produce a game (and yes trolls there is a game there and the video is not fake) and lose all the time in their lives just to get a couple grand out of the community, you are insane.
With all the skeptics around this game, do you really think they would get enough to justify this thought process. Please. Red flags would go up if they ever tried to get money out of the community before we could play the game. That is just ignorant trolling.

I guess both the fans and the devs dont really know what a User Interface is... now time to explain
First of all the UI parts that DO count (banking, the items and trading.) those are in the same 10 seconds and ONLY 10 seconds that you see the actual UI
Crosshairs (or otherwise known as the players Reticle) is NOT a UI since you cant interface with it at all. It and all the health bars are part of what Gamers know to be is called the HUD (heads up display)
now a UI is defined as: The user interface (or Human Computer Interface) is the aggregate of means by which peoplethe usersinteract with the systema particular machine, device, computer program or other complex tools. The user interface provides means of:
* Input, allowing the users to manipulate a system * Output, allowing the system to produce the effects of the users' manipulation
The output is also a reference to health bars as well since the HUD allows you to see the bars, when you click a attack in the UI makes your character give damage thus altering the bar of the enemy. So that argument is borderline 50/50
The only UI aspect seen in the trailer was a player interacting with the bank, merchant, and other players. there was no standard UI that the player would have seen while they play normally. Anyone could make a bunch of interface boxes and passed them off as actual UI.

Wow... just wow. Those are the only parts with UI because those are the only parts in FIRST PERSON. Everything else was shot from a free roaming camera. In most game trailers they don't show ANY UI, I'm almost certain they included that 10 second clip just because people specifically asked to see the crafting.
Show me another game's trailer that is done with the full UI turned on.
We know what the UI looks like, we've known for years. Its simple, that's the theme. No floating names. Compact UI. Quickbar on the left, a list of commands, a chat window, health bar, that's about it.
Okay lemme say this, if this game is so huge...why can't we buy it pr pre-order it yet? Seems like any good retail would want to sell this right. HUH?!!?! Are they gonna sell it themselves?!?! If it is real that still is pretty stupid to do. Unless it's Paying Online, but still they should have discs!

Head over to the official forums and find your way to numerous discussions about publishers in the news section i believe.
Also i believe they may have even stated no pre-orders. but i could be wrong. they want people to play the game before they commit any $ to it.

Eh, that's a bold decision. Will they even have CE?!?! I always like spending more money to be OP..
Haha, that goes totally against one of the core philosophies of Darkfall. Aventurine are not sleezy money grubbers like Age of Conan. We'll have boxes, and online distribution is also a possiblity. Collectors Edition, I'd say unlikely. Aventurine doesn't seem the type to wring money out of their fans.
Anyways do we have a picture of the box. And whats on the box? O.o If so lets see it! I'm not being a troll atm...the box might actually look cool....I hope, I like art.
they are using the same publisher as Mourning did. Its pretty much a jewel case with a burnt DVD with a designer cover on the DVD disc and a simple distrubution box. An actual artisiticly designed PC box may not be possible. Who knows tho, the publisher may have gotten better as this was two years ago.

Why the Hell do you keep saying that? The publisher they're using has never published an online game before. How did you even make that mistake, or are you just really bad at trolling? Publisher is Audio Visual, they're making a brand new division of their company just to publish Darkfall. So...you couldn't be more wrong.

it was never added to their list as the game when defunct in the middle of distrubution. It is AudioVisual is it now?

Prove to me that is game play footage. Where's the UI? Who played it. Did you play it? Who was controlling the characters.

re. Having the developers posting it on youtube and other sites does not prove anything. Anyone can make a video like that given enough spare time in a college computer lab.
It may be real, who knows, but proof to me that it is real. Prove to me a bunch of developers were playing it ingame. Prove it. And just dont say "well, you saw the 20 minute video!!"
Ive seen a lot of 20 minute videos of video games that never came to be. Here's one example

Somone is getting desperate. A video proves nothing, everyone knows that. You need to get off your lazy a**, get into beta and prove it to yourself.

Imagine that. End result? It ended up as vaporware and they took all the suckers and their money (they even charged players to pay beta).
I couldn't put that any better. The video was scripted it is obvious it looks more like a in-game cinematic then game play by far. I'd like to see game elements, because a game isn't a game without core elements in which we seen none.

If I ever said that, I'm sorry and wrong. But I don't think I did. Anyhow. Having a beta doesn't prove it is VW either. Right ? Who has the right to demand proof ? You or me ? You have no proof whatsoever it's VW. Should I demand it from you ?

Hey Enigma,
I typically agree with your philosophy and ideas, but I'm wondering why you think they'd go to all this trouble to make vaporware.

And here you go, the UI shots from the video.

no... it isnt
"There's UI in many parts of the video, just watch it."
theres only ONE small section of UI...not in many parts

* Input, allowing the users to manipulate a system
* Output, allowing the system to produce the effects of the users' manipulation
The output is also a reference to health bars as well since the HUD allows you to see the bars, when you click a attack in the UI makes your character give damage thus altering the bar of the enemy. So that argument is borderline 50/50
The only UI aspect seen in the trailer was a player interacting with the bank, merchant, and other players. there was no standard UI that the player would have seen while they play normally. Anyone could make a bunch of interface boxes and passed them off as actual UI.
lol at saying the developers of an MMO dont know what an UI is. jesus you guys are really bitter about being wrong huh.
i mean that is just sad.

Wow...
Darkfall Travelogues!

Darkfall Travelogues!
Damn....they lose all hope in a person with money
Anyways do we have a picture of the box. And whats on the box? O.o
If so lets see it!
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
