Well, I wrote this once before but I guess for some reason it got deleted. Since I was never told why it was deleted I'm just going to post it again.
CoH is kind of perking my interest. The problem is, I'm not up to paying for it just to check it out. Is there a free downloaded trial for this game at all? I looked around and didn't find anything, but I'm hoping that I'm just e-blind and missed it.

Same here, played for about a month or two. I just got really bored of the the same missions over and over and over........ I even waited for the First Issue(the first major update). It was fun for a few days and then I finally quit. Now I am waiting for MXO!!!
Here's a run down of CoH's strong and weak points imo... For what it's worth..
Strong Points:
1. First and foremost.. the level of visual character customization.. its endless.. well seemingly (and even more so with the addition of capes at lvl 20 and permanent glowing auras at lvl 30).. you can make your character look like anything from an angel, to a troll, to a borg drone, to an average joe, to any superhero (or villain) of your choosing.. Its almost as if youre creating your own unique piece of art, and this can be very fun and satisfying (especially when you get a "wow.. your character looks AWESOME" comment from someone youve never met b4..)
2. The game really does make you feel SUPER.. almost every skill and powerpool in CoH really makes you feel like a super hero.. it seems that the skills in CoH are just more extreme than other mmorpgs... even your non-fighting skills (such as super speed and super jump and transport) are just plain super and allow you to get around much more quickly than any other mmorpg ive seen.. and they make it fun to do.
3. This one kind of goes along with number 2... because you do play the role of a super hero in CoH, the hunting is designed a bit differently than most mmorpg's.. instead of fighting one even con (or a couple lvls higher), you can fight large groups of mobs simultaneously (or choose to just take on single "boss" class mobs if you wish).. which makes hunting exciting in the fact that instead of just hacking or blasting away at a single foe, you have a barrage of foes to manage, which can make hunting more strategic and exciting..
4. Intuitive controls and character handling... your avatar simply goes where, and does what you tell them..lol.. This can make everything a bit more fun because (with a little practice) you will find yourself pulling off some really amazing feats.. that will have you saying: "damn im good!"
well.. i usually say that to myself anyways.. my therapist says its good for me 
5. The scenery graphics and mob effects are pretty cool (although become repetitive) and run smoothly even on lower end systems
6. The "Sidekick" system. This is a system which allows you to make a lower lvl friend a sidekick which brings them to an effective fighting level one level under yours... dmg, HP, and endurance wise.. While they will still be weaker than someone of the actual lvl (because of lack of skills and lack of enhancements) its still a very good system which allows you to play with characters of virtually any lvl... so your friend that started playing a month after you, will still be able to play along side you.
And now, the weak points:
1. VERY repetitive.. Most everything in the game is very repetitive because of a lack of choices of things to do with in the game... you really have only 3 choices: To hunt, To do kill missions (which are the ONLY type of missions), or to do a Task Force mission (which is basically just a long string of kill missions that lasts for about 2 or 3 hours (at least) and where you are stuck with the same team for the duration of the mission (not able to invite and new team mates into the Task Force once it is created)) Now while I suppose this is OK for someone who just likes to hunt all day anyways, but for me personally, I like to have other choices to get away from the grind.. like perhaps different kinds of missions (courier, crafting, or exploration types)..
2. Repetitive scenery.. throughout most of the game, your really just looking at the same buildings over and over again, with little change.. Although the missions maps are different (and some pretty cool looking) there are only a limited number of those as well... so after a while you start to get a feeling of deja vu quite frequently..:)
3. Lack of crafting... there is NO crafting in this game.. so if thats something you enjoy, this is not a game for you..:)
4. Dumbed down character skill creation (which is my no means THAT bad, compared to some other games.. *cough* FFXI *cough*)... Like a LOT of recent games, the way in which you customize and choose your characters skills is slightly dumbed down.. there are no character stats to tweak, which makes it too easy to figure out what the "best" set of skills to pick with in your class are... dont get me wrong.. it does take more that a 5 year olds mental capabilities to make a strong character, and it really does allow you to make a character that fits your fighting style (notice i didnt say "play style"..lol).. but I just like to see more...
5. Currently, there is NO +lvl 50 game... no PvP (until City of Villains comes out... still a ways out..).. really nothing to do once you reach the max lvl.. except of course to help out your lower lvl friends.. but really nothing to do with in the actual dynamics of the game..
6. "Supergroups" (the CoH equivalent of a guild) are limited to 40 (i think.. dont quote me on that) characters (and alts)... So if you have a lot of friends, you may find yourself having to pick and choose between them when making your supergroup... and forget about alts...
In summation, this game can be quite fun and entertaining for a short period of time (like while your waiting for WoW or EQ2 to go retail..
).. as long as go into it with the knowledge that it is only that, and not much more... and with expectations as such... just dont go spending your last 49.99 on it... its basically a one night stand..lol.. can be quite fun and exciting.. but dont expect a call the next morning..

COH couldnt have a free trial cause then very few would buy the game since 1week of coh is enough to make you sick of it:)

Holy shit that is the best review of CoH I have ever read. I played a Fire Tanker to 40 and left after the nerfs and he is dead ass on the money. You guys might want to think about hiring him.
Your post wasnt deleted Theely. It was moved to the City of heros forum by a moderator. If a topis is game specific and there is a forum for that game, they will always move it.
As for CoH, I havent played the game but several friends have said although it is fun, it is pretty basic. For this reason most quit playing after a few months.
