What is the max level in Warhammer?
Is it like WoW where i can hit max level in 1 month?
I like to have a grind for my levels so when I get higher it makes me feel like I have accomplished something.
Next question is, are the serves up yet for the Preorder Early access people?
I see open beta starts September 7th, will there be a wipe after?
Comments
Sigh.
40.
Some say yes, some not so sure. There are renown levels no one has had a chance to explore time-wise as well.
No play. Yes Download. OB on the 7th
Wiped characters after OB.
Rank 40 in a month for casual players. Mythic said they want people at endgame. There are 80 renown ranks and I believe it should take a year to get all of those though it might be a little shorter.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms
AMD 4800 2.4ghz-3GB RAM 533mhz-EVGA 9500GT 512mb-320gb HD
instant gratification, since endgame is at level 1'ish. (PQs, RvR).
No more grind to max level, endgame starts at the beginning of the game.
well said.

I would love to engage in a battle of wits with you, unfortunately my morals disallow me to thwap an unarmed person.
You can get max level in a month, but you would have skipped a ton of content and PVP opportunities. To fully enjoy the game, you would need to mix scenarios, RVR, PQs, and exploration in. The renown rank in PVP makes up for the easy leveling (I guess) and it does feeling WAY more rewarding to level up knowing you owned a bunch of other players rather than grinding on 1000 mobs for a day.
Each t otheir own isnt it.
you miss content you can go back but if server population balancing means you wil lhave opportunities to level for less effort on some servers thats an opportunity you can play to your advantage in a number of ways.
There could be a lot of tweaking re xp gain etc bewtween now - open beta and release so i guess unless sm1 has been given a difinitive answer we will have to wait to find out.
Personally I prefer to blast upto max level by playing long hours doing the stuff I enjoy and that necessarily involves doing a variety of things at different times.
Caveat Emptor
Instant for sure. Lots of PvE content but the time to finish a quest is very short. Every boar has a liver yay! And frankly doing PQ/BG/RvR will just speed you along faster to 40 since they all reward XP. There are lots of reknown levels, but the spec tree is underwhelming so frankly don't see anyone other than hardcore grinding out levels for a tiny increase in stat/xp gain
In less than 2 weeks time, there will be max levels running around.
cracks me up thoroughly, years to develope.... max level in a month or less?? for shame Mythic!!!!
instant cash cow... pay your 50 for the game just like some of these other games that just came out and be bored out of your mind in a month sooo sad if a game is to have longevity it needs content content content... aoc rerun... ya ya flame me for saying the truth on this one... even in DaoC you didnt have max levels so soon... have your months fun boys bubye
Two weeks? I give it two days.
I agree, sounds too simplistic to provide long term replayability.
This is dangerously close to the line of being a MMOG not a MMORPG, not sure it warrents a monthly charge.
Should be F2P like COD4.
Then go and play Lineage 2 starting from scratch. Tons of content&longevity guarantied.
If people aren't going to be happy with WAR and just want to grind grind grind they should just stick with wow or any of the other grind-fests that are out there.
I plan on leveling very slowly. Taking my time to enjoy the game casually and my real life.
I for one welcome this breath of fresh air.
How exactly do you plan on leveling slowly? Standing around doing emotes for hours? Actually the only way to level slowly is to miss content and grind in one spot. For the most part quests get you in and out of an area in under one hour.
If you RvR, PvE, PQ you will level quickly. And 80 RvR levels is just a number the reward is tiny.

the rewards for RR are tiny? what planet have you been living on? high RR will give you access to the best gear in the game not too mention choosing renown rewards.
I would compare the leveling to DAOC for a experienced player.
I think the leveling will be what you make of it. If you are only concerned with leveling and not stopping to get gear from PQ for the senerios or crafting, and also not trying to complete any of the Tome of knowledge then yes you will level fast.
Got a idea for peeps worried about leveling too fast. Try and actaully read the quest and do some of the side content.

People who rush through WAR will be shooting themselves in the foot and they will have the shittiest Tome of Knowledge ever for their characters. If leveling is your thing then play a grinder. If RvR/PvP with organized groups are your thing the WAR should provide tons of fun.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:
GW2 (+LoL and BF3)
My response to most of the comments in this thread is fairly simple....
If you don't think you'll like WAR....please don't buy it, and please don't play it. Frankly, I think those of us that have seen the game in it's developement process at some point, should pretty much just not say ANYTHING more about it.
Let the people who like WoW ....STAY THERE. Let the people who are too suspicious of WAR to try it.....stay where THEY are. If you ask me, that's all just going to make WAR even better, because all of the people that you hated playing with in those "other games" will still BE in those "other games" and we will all be free to enjoy Warhammer without their negativity and annoying CRAP.
Win/Win
Why try to convert people?? Last I checked, I didn't have a "Gamer's Evangelist License" hanging over my computer desk. And personally....I don't want one. Live and let live. Let the seekers find, and let the doubting Thomas's of the game world....go on doubting. What do we really LOSE by not evangelizing these people? Nothing. There will be plenty of people playing Warhammer on release day. We don't need to "pull in" the lost refuse of the gaming world that are seeking for a game "messiah." If someone is truly seeking (on their own, without having to be told).....they will find the right game for themselves.

Please excuse all the religious references. It just was what fit the situation best, in my opinion. No offense was intended to anyone of any faith or lack thereof.

Na as real as mythic's team has been to consumers for a long long time now it's pretty safe to say they are going to be just as cool to us months and months after release. Other game companies with tons of subscribers could care less...but EA doesnt play around!.
Everyone always overlooks the Tome of Knowledge.
It's there to be leveled too, it has it's own experience pool and gives tactics only available from Tome unlocks for example.
-------------------------------------------------------
Rewards From the Tome
The tome of knowledge will grant multiple types of rewards, including:
* Experience points
* Lore Rewards, which are background texts added to the tome about the achievement
* Titles pertaining to the achievement (such as the title "Dwarf Slayer" for slaying 100 Dwarfs)
* Abilities, probably pertaining to the achievement (such as an ability that is especially powerful against Dwarfs after you've killed 150 Dwarfs)
* Trophies, which you may then place on your armour to show off your achievement (such as an Ironbreaker skull for killing 200 Dwarfs)
* Bragging rights. A special section of your Tome of Knowledge is available for other players to see, allowing them to bask in the glory of your achievements.
-------------------------------------------------------
I think it's going to take quite some time for this part of the game to be fully realized by the players.
The thing is, if someone DOESN'T dispute the naysayers in these boards, then the honest inquisitors will not get accurate information with which they can form an opinion. The arguments with the naysayers aren’t for their benefit, the arguments are for the benefit of the readers/lurkers who haven’t made up their mind already. So they can, at least, hear both sides
troll slaying time:
yes its true, the max rank of the game 40 wont take anyone too long to get, because you need 40 to even try to go in on a city siege and not get wtfpwnt by the defenses. honestly 40 is just there as the marker that says youre finally ready to hit the fun part of the game and kill kings and rub it in the other sides noses.
now the real grind, realm rank 80, you might be up to rr 40 when you hit the level 40 cap, you might not be, like if you pve your xp (boring imo) youll be lacking realm rank severly where as if you level via pvp (the fun and profitable route (see the gold for kills quests)) youll maintain roughly the same realm rank as regular level (at least when i was playing i was staying even winning scenarios and capturing world land marks for realm rank and turing in the kill quests for xp and cash and of course the bonuses for winning /playing scenarios)
so is level 40 easy to get in a few weeks to a month? you bet. is every single class in the game awesome to play and worth having at max level you bet. 20 classes atm x 1 month each = almost 2 years just trying them all at 40. and then rank 80 im guessing the most hardcore person getting to in like 3 months (mind you level 40 rank 80 = a set of armor that would make a suit of red uniques in wow look like crap).
and yup you level guilds too and guilds can claim the objective keeps to help defend them even better with alerts to sieges being broadcast to the guild and a recall ability so you can teleport into the keep and not be held out by the attackers, and since healers can spam resses for the defenders you can be truely hard to remove unless the attacking force is intelligent and truely more powerfull (not just some idiotic zerg).
all in all i see myself getting far more fun play time out of war then i did with wow, did i mention how disappointed i was when wow made my high warlord title meaningless by giving everyone access to my level of gear without putting in the effort just becuase everyone cried the grind was too much for them. war wont be caving in letting level 40 rr 1s use my 40 80 armor no sir, theyll have to kill the hundreds of thousands or whatever the exact number ends of being of enemies too if they wanna play on my level of field and coolness!
All needs to be said.
The most important thing that made this game truly shine when I played during the preview weekend had nothing to do with how easy it was to level, because, in WAR, I never even THOUGHT about leveling. There was SO much to do, and everything new that came my way immediately grabbed my attention, and every step of the way simply opened up more options. This game has done what no game I've ever played has been able to do: It has removed the drive to level, and replaced it with the drive to play! I didn't care what level I was, all I cared about was experiencing the world, participating in PQs, killing my disgusting Destruction enemies in Open World RvR (when I had the time) or in Scenarios when I wanted a quick fix of PvP. If I didn't want to explore the beautiful world Mythic designed, I would simply queue up and be on my way to a Scenario in no time.
When I play an MMO, the only drive to continue to play that game should be because it is fun, NOT because I'm not a super uber powerful high-level pwner that waisted hours and hours only to have the best items that won't be the best in six months when the next expansion comes out and so I have to keep playing this repetitive boring stuff until I can actually GET to the bulk of the content kjgfajkgfkafgakf..... Not for me! No thank you!
WAR has solved my biggest MMO gripe and I can't wait to play it for many years to come!
