Is it worth coming back?

I bought and played AoC when it was first out and left due to my system specs and bugs etc.  Have since upgraded my system nothing great but on upgrade non the less.

I love the Conan IP and want to come back to the game, but was looking for advice on how the game is going etc.

Any help/advice would be great.

    No.

You will get really bored playing the game.

IMO no its not worth comming back yet..I came back for a bit, but i just canceled Again..

The next patch is delayed again.. there was a post on it yesterday.

There Continues to be a lack of content from 60+, armour is still Rubbish (imo), unless your fully dammage Gemmed, and if your Dammage Gemmed your then overpowered and people cry nerf and bitch at you if you kill them.

They make Stupid coments like "OH your Gemmed arnt you!"  Well Yes of Course im Gemmed, you Have to be gemmed to compete with other Gemmed people in Pvp because the other none gemmed armour is well crap (imo).

So until the Dammage gems are Rebalanced or the Non gem armour is rebalanced there are going to be people whining about it.

So Is it worth Resubbing. Well imo, no not yet.

Wait a few months and then maybe take a look, but right now as someone that has just canceled their sub! no, its kinda disapointing.

Everyone bar 5 people in my guild of 80+ has quit, we just finnished our Tier 1 city to Walls, towers and all =(

I have an online friend still playing this. Though i have never played it yet (listened to all the feedback on the game). Friend there says that the game is improving, slowly. But he recommended me to still wait for a few months becuase the game still needs to be sorted out, although he likes it, the bugs and inbalances in the game will put many people off almost straight away. He says the game is not as bad as all the feedback however that you read about. With Warhammer being overpriced on its monthly fee (in europe), i will have to hope that AoC does get fixed.

Nope, it's not worth coming back and question is if it ever will. This game needs probably 6 months of good development from another company that knows what they are doing. If Funcom aint selling Conan then this game has 1% chance of ever becoming a decent game.

There are other games out there that are much better in everything. Maybe not graphics, but you cant buy a game purely cause of graphics and then expect to be satisfied.

I went back to try it after a couple of months and I didn't really notice any changes.  Apart from the server having about 3% of the population left and my entire guild had quit....

I went back to wow, it's much older but it's a MUCH more complete game and everything just works as it should :/

Not worth it atm, they keep pushin further their promised patches just to milk ppl for their $ or €

  • bcrankshawbcrankshaw Member Posts: 547

    Not at the moment

If you want to accept a game that is still broken and offers unbalanced PVP and endless grind at higher levels then its fine

    It's really a personal choice :)

  • Wow, in a couple of months AOC will be ready for gaming. Awesome!

Its not worth it mate. The game is full of bugs and endless poor patches doing nothing other than screwing the game up. Your upgraded pc setup may also backfire on you, with other words you might get lower fps due to the bad engine.

Please take my word and save yourself from the hassle of being a slave. Funcom dont give a jack shit about you, they just want to milk your dollars one by one.

do AoC still have as much client issues?

  • ShanniaShannia Member Posts: 2,096

    Never.

Either the marketing department and coding developers never, ever talk or we have been lied to since the beginning.

There was too much broken/missing for this game to launch and for them to actually charge people.  Funcom wants months and months to "get it right" while we foot their bills.  That is completely and totally unacceptable to me and most gamers out there.

They received $37 million dollars in investment funding three months before launch.  They could have very easily delayed the release to fix a lot of these known issues.  They chose the greedy way, to ask the players to foot their bills for them while they took their time to get things right.

To borrow a line from Hillary...

NO WAY, NO HOW, NO AGE OF CLONAN

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

*HAVE YOU GOT TO LEVEL 80*

    If you have - NO

If you haven't - you can re-subsribe and enjoy some things of the game BUT BE PREPARED you will not like the game soon

         a. chances are you wont be able to group up for quests that require more than 3 dps and require a healer

         b. once you hit 80 you need to unsubsribe immediately

itll be of course up to you, this is my view

Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.

I don't think the game will be really adjusted until  next year, after having a look at it then might change my view,as for now ,it's a hit and miss ops, and we shall see .

Iam still very active in Age of Conan ( playing at least 4h+ daily )  and I would suggest NOT to resubscribe yet.

If you got bored once there were not so many changes that you will enjoy it this time ( some things even got worse ) so just wait for at least a month ( if not more ) then check out whats changed.

Thanks for all of the replies ,  i have decided to give AoC another chance.

I didn't have any lvl 80 chars the first time so i didn't quit due to being bored or anything like that just had computer problems.

I am a casual player so don't rush through things, so perhaps by the time i get there more cotent will have been added.

Its still the same, patches with more bugs than they fix and so many people have left. I actually enjojed the game more when it came out than now.

The pvp patch was put off till the 10th now, wonder what the date will change to when the 10th arrives since its only the 6th or 7th delay for the pvp patch.

AoC has taught me one thing always play a game in a trial or beta first before buying would have saved me $50 that was totally wasted on this.

This statement speaks volumes. No one knows when the pvp patch is coming because Funcom doesn't communicate with it's player base. So take that for what you will.

My advice to you is not to listen to anyone with a "Fail Com" icon under their forum name.

They're never going to give you an unbiased answer, for obvious reasons.

the game is very fun for me.

i have a 53 assasin as my main. i also have numerous other low teen toons awaiting exile from tortage!

    pvp server, doomsayer

clan is - mean old bastards

    name is- maynardjames

the people on this forum, for some strange selfish reason want to see AOC fail. its hard to decipher the real opinions from the WAR fanatics from the I am just a miserable bastard and want to piss on anyone happiness.

if you're hardcore, dont bother yet. but if you're looking for a steady, slow ride till 80 (like me) its a good time assuming you have a good guild, like i have found on doomsayer.

    good luck.

No. I would give a more detailed response but they havent done a thing to make it better. Worse, in my opinion. If you got 15 bucks to blow then go for it. If you have other things to do with the 15 bucks dont bother with it.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Go back to the game only if you plan on not taking a toon over level 50. If you want fun and what was promised on the box try coming back in about a year.

Personnly I wouldnt come back if they payed me the 15 euros a month.

And then there are of course the people who want to warn others, so that they don't make the same mistake.
