Ok, I just went into my local HMV that I bought my CE preorder pack from...
I explained that they hadn't taken my details for the preorder to hold one for me and the manager said he would and knock the £10 for the preorder off, IF they actually got enough in...
so first off, they didn't know it was a preorder and to take details...
second, its now £69.99, rather than the £59.99 it was advertised by GOA to be (which would make it £49.99 after my £10 preorder is taken off!)
Thirdly, they may not even get as many copies of the bloody CE into the store anyway...
Fourth, they haven't even got a bloody clue whats in it either?!?
Now, he blamed his head office, but shit, not knowing what your bloody selling is a god damned disgrace...
*Edited to including missing spaces that ran away from my rage*

The gaming industry needs a serious reality check when it comes to sales & marketing. They are absolutely clueless, and every single MMO that is released creates a mass of hysteria when folk are trying to get a copy.
Information circulation is non-existent, and herein lies the root problem.
I got mine from Play, its still £59.99.
69.99 euros in my local store so about 56-57 pounds.
The stores could probably charge £79.99 for the CE and people would still pay it.
Yes they are that desperate to get their hands on a CE copy of the game.
You can't blame Mythic or EA for this. They have arranged a suitable number of retailers to sell the game and they inform the head office of the shops of the process. its upto the sales companies at that point to make sure their various branches are kept in the loop.
As for the price looks like HMV is getting greedy VERY VERY greedy. They want the tenner for the pre-order AND the full fee for selling it. I suspect you could have fair trading look into their practice if they are deliberatly doing this con. My recommendation if you feel inclined to make a fuss is contact the HMV head office ask to make a offical complaint and state your case clearly and concisely.
Make sure you point out the recommended retail price explain that the pre-order is supposed to be free and that if you pay for it, it should then be knocked off of the price of the CE. Ask them if perhaps the manager of your bvranch got it wrong and if so could they help you sort it out.
After this if they give you no joy contact the fair trading association and ask for advice. I believe (please not I may be very wrong here) however by adding 10 pounds to the package price and then offering you the pre-order items for a 10 pounds and telling you they will knock it off of the price I think you may have a case :-

However I can't say for sure.
Just my 2 cents

Heya Gadareth, yeah hadn't even thought that much through (cos I always deal with my ex-gf in the store, so she usually does that voodoo they do on me...)
Head Office is a good idea actually, i'll contact them
Major problem here is due to the law against price fixing neither EA or Mythic can insist on what price the retailer charges they can recommend a price and point out thats what everyone else is charging but they cannot force the issue. Except possibly by noting that the retailer does this and refuse to deal with them next time. Normally the consumer will just go and buy from the cheaper outlet anyway hence forcing the price back into sync. However due to the limited nature of the CE it may be that HMV is seeing a chance for a larger profit margin on these items (or possibly just the local branch manager).

Yeah he actually showed me on his systemthat its down as £69.99... He didn't understand it either
As said above pure profiteering from HMV, Game was taking pre-orders for the CE at £40 until EA took their allocation away from them.
Problem is that the stuff inside the CE will most likely go for more on eBay.
Aye, I was after all the bits in the CE, especially the limited Edition Ork miniature... will make a nice army commander in a freinds Orc army, especially as they are about to publish rules for him too
Well, in Spain GAME is the official retailer for the collectors edition and even tho they sold the preorders they dont have a clue about it.
Preorder were sold as "WAR Beta", something you suposedly bought to play the game beta, it doesnt preorder a collector edition at all and of course wont discount 10€.
I really hope GoA, Mythic, EA or whoever is in charge of that contact GAME and explain them what they have to do.
At least the price wasnt changed, i asked yesterday and it was 69.95€
Problem is Mythic, GOA and EA can explain this to the head office till they are blue in the face if the guy in charge has cheese for brains there isn't anything they can do.
Unfortunately the incompatance of others is going to have a negative impact on them as people are quick to blame the game designers/ manufacturers for the stupidity of the retail outlets

I wont be buying from HMV again
Funnily, I got a call aftermy first post about this later in the afternoon... it was my ex calling from HMV for her manager saying he would make sure I got mine and asked if I could take the info of the colectors edition in to help them out...
