Yes that's right I did the unthinkable, I resubbed to AOC. I've only played for a few hours so far, so I don't have much new information to give at the present time. I will say, I was surprised that some of the stability issues I had when playing around launch have been addressed.
My framerate has also improved slightly, with less overall slow down and no lag spikes as of yet. I tried each of my characters, which showed most servers are pretty desolate. On Deathwhisper(main) there's still a slight PVP presence throughout the server, noob lands included. Didn't find this on the others really, Some noob areas were a tad populated though ( I haven't tried tyranny yet, the other supposed high pop PVP server).
The guild I was in is dead, completely dead, seems to be the case for most of our allied guilds as well.
I did notice that they fixed the AO stat names ( shown in a screen here awhile back) .
I plan to make it to at least 60 this time around, I'm 35 on my main at present. I also plan to give as unbiased information as I possibly can. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, I have no personal interest in this game, which gives me no reason to spin anything I experience.

Please feedback objectively and honestly like you are doing
I particularly want to know about higher level content and PVP imbalances
Thanks

From what I gather so far in-game, that hasn't really changed as of yet. I'm going to be trying out test live tonight or tomorrow. I'll let you know what I hear from people there.

AO stat thing wasn't a hoax. I verified it shortly after checking out that screenshot here.
Thanks for clearing that up, Edited out.

Speaking of dead guilds, I checked out my old server Forum yesterday just to see what had been happening with the big guilds. To my surprise 4 of the larger allied guilds (including my old guild) on the server had decided to merge into 1 to make raiding possible due to the low pop, but it seems there was some major political drama in the merge and it fell through at the last minute. Anyway it all spilled over onto the Gwahlur forums (its a funny read tbh, worth having a look) and the end result is a massive bunch of already frustrated people copping the last straw and leaving for WAR.
But on topic, good to hear framerates are on the improve, and if the spikes are fixed that is a major step too. I'm not sure that slow progress will bring back the masses though, but I'm slowly getting over my hate of Funcom so good luck to 'em.
The one important word in your thread. YET.
You will probably regret it soon. I was bored out of my mind by 45 and quit. Then some of my friends talked me into staying right before sub expired so I renewed. Only lasted 2 weeks then I quit and would not go back for any reason.
AoC for me was the most boring game I have ever played and the combat is so slow it would put you to sleep if not for the fact you have to hit 6 keys to do a combat move.
Dude, as long as you like that game, gratz! The most important thing its you enjoy what you are playing!
But for the rest of us, we would like to let the rest of the dev know that if you expect us to pay for beta, you are seriously wrong....
Right now i think only Blizz can stop a game if they feel that its sux, other company just push it out to earn money, not wrong to earn $, but in the wrong way as to lie to the players....

Then you, as an informed gamer, should stop buying games at launch. Right? Waite for 6 months.

I agree... because of the lack of current good mmo on the market im being bought into the hype.... just like VG... sign......

In anticipation of AoC, I upgraded my computer and got the Collector's Edition of the game.
I deeply regretted it after a month
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." bah, why would you regret upgrading your computer? computer upgrading is fun

I got two characters somewhat high up in levels (1 46, 1 49) and it wasnt until the high forties that I wanted to pound my head into a wall. I had a necro and a barbarian but I can say that I was a huge AOC fan but I quit 30 days after launch. I couldn't play for more then 15 minutes at a time. The game just didn't engage me like I thought it would . I hope you enjoy it and best of luck.
Ya I would actually like to hear some neutral feedback from someone who has actually gone back.
What class(es) you played and if they seemed better/worse.
Altho I'd have to wonder if the reduction in lag is mostly due to the reduction in people.
I was playing on two different servers at launch and there was so many copies of tortage instances it was kind unreal. Even then you have to instance surf just to complete quests etc
Anyway if you give some more updates as times passes would be interesting to me at least.
Lol, I love the last sentence.
Fungerer som det skal
good luck OP.
as a 55 assasin myself, i am not bored in the least. i have a bucket load of group quests and orange/red quests still to do.
still having fun.
-I will subtlety invade your psyche-
Well everyone is asking for the latest on the game so i thought i would give my view point of ths situation as I am nor roaming forums and looking into other games about atm cause i have decided to move on from AoC even though I built a new rig for it, anyway here is some feedback:
Played on a RP-PvP server Aquilonia
Archer: 80
Barbarian: 73
Bearshaman: 43
Priest of Mitra: 50
Guardian: 35
As you can imagine i played a lot and over quite some time but i havent seen much diverisity to keep me play. I will break down the info into parts:
Stability.
The game is much more stable as of late and very little lag spikes occur although some of the major issues still are evident, such as BSOD (For AMD dual processor users) and memory leaks. The game is one, if not the most beautiul game i have played as an MMO but when you start to experience BSOD due to the shader model you have to run it in shader 2.0 and then the game looks rather bland (LOTRO looked better than AoC in shader 2.0).
Enconomy and Crafting:
The economy is always up and down due to the constant changes to the crafting system, in particular the gem system. Gems are getting nerfed and have been so many people, including myself, find it fustration or pointless to grind for many hours to craft armour that you dont know how good or bad it will be in the future. This instability in the crafting system makes it not worth the time and effort.
Items and Gear:
The armour and weapons are the best i have ever seen in a mmo. They really look the part if you are looking for spot on real life looking detail. The armour is great and the fact yhat you can see the necklaces your wearing is really good, however all of the armour sets look quite identical except for a slight difference in colour tone. Light medium and heavy all are mini-skirt with tank top and the only difference is the colour. This is evidient in all of the levels. At higher levels there are the Raid gear and the PVP gear that looks very nice indeed and worthy to work for but the stats on them arnt too impressive and just give + resist or + damage mod, nothing really exciting or unique. In addition the item stats keep changing and they dont stay the same which makes it really hard for the player base to settle into a PvE enviroment, (particularly for tanks that keep having to change gear to off set certain nerfs that effect boss control).
Guild Cities and BattleKeeps,
One of the main reasons for a guild city (and BK) is that they offer the ability to create and craft better items but with the current planed nerf (presernt on the test servers) it makes them not so important as PvP or PvE gear.
PvP
One of the main problems that i could see with the PvP was not really the lack of pvp levels or gear but the reason for pvp. I remember the days of running AV in wow and that was fun because there was a reason for the pvp...to gain certain areas and push your enemy back then take the keep. In AoC it doesnt really work like that. You have the BK's (granted that they are bugged but that is getting resolved) but you will only get to fight in a BK battle if your part of a large guild, and large guilds are hard to come by on the server.
Community:
One of the main things, if not the only thing that finally made me decide to leave AoC was the comunity that is left there. When new people ask for help in the ooc they are bombarded with insults. The lack of pvp goal and aim, of any purpose means that pvp is just getting ganked at ress/spawn/zone points and anyone making complains about this behaviour (that is current in the PK farming on the test servers) are told to, 'go back to wow' or 'roll pve' or all of the other stuff you hear. It suprises me that a shrinking community like AoC still tell people to get lost and they wonder why the servers are empty. Many guilds have pratically no active members or ones that come on every other 2 or 3 days. The group quests and instances are therefor impossible to do in such situation and it seems the game is tailored in all ways for members of large guilds rather than smaller ones that is all that is left on the server, i dont know about other servers as i can only speak of what i have seen.
For the record; it was hard to decide to quite the game and i would have waited for stability, i would have waited for the guild to grow again, i would have waited for new contense but i taken the advice of the AoC community and left the game. Looking forward to War, the maybe try DF but really waiting to see Earth Rise.
good point...telling players to "get lost" or "go back to wow" when they voice valid concerns is probably not a good way to revive the community. i remember getting the old "go back to wow carebear" line when i mentioned that some kind of traveling system would be nice. good thing they added that travel system....i think that was one of the last times that one of my concerns about the game was actually fixed
@vala2008:
Great feedback/review.
And as gryjin says that doesn't exactly help newcomers to AoC, especially as the population on servers are dwindling. Ofc, every MMO has those players insulting newbies, but I'd think most AoC players would try to help newcomers so they would remain in the game.
And if you ask about dwindling population, that I got from reading official forums and listening to what a friend of mine ingame has told me.
RIP Blackguard. May a resurrection come.
