Further proof. On the back of my card from the Baltimore Convention: "USE OF THIS CODE WILL RESERVE A SPOT FOR YOU IN THE WARHAMMER ONLINE BETA TEST" I didn't necessarily expect to get into the pre pre Beta, but ANY Beta would have been nice. correct me if im wrong, but you still would not be taken into beta, if your pc didnt meet the beta standard.
And lol to the person above me, this gives me a chance to find out what class im gonna play, Same for PReview weekend, tried out 3 classes got them to about 10, 2 of them a bit more. Made me love the game more, and play classes i will never play come release(Aka order stuff).
Im gonna have trouble picking a class. Atleast now im down to chosen or Black orc(yet to try chosen, that will be my OB guy)

Well seeing as how I was guaranteed a beta spot due to my attendance at their Baltimore Convention, and I didn't get it, I don't believe a word Mythic says. Funny, my buddy that attended with me got in, and his PC isn't even close in performance to the rig I have...you'd think my dxdiag in and of itself would have been enough to get in.

So where did they LIE to you? I am not seeing it anywhere.
Wrong. Not only did I talk to Games Workshop on the phone, I talked to the Devs at the booth (who, coincidentally are developing it about 10 minutes from my house) and the Baltimore Convention was apparently the only convention that guaranteed a Beta slot. That comment you posted is directed at the other Conventions.
No, read again. That is all one paragraph, and the disclaimer is obviously directly referring to the Baltimore convention.

Funny how you bitch and whine about not getting into beta and say you will not play because of it. Yet, according to you, have been following the game for a long time and even attended a convention.

I think you seriously need to get the wax out your ear. He is not talking about the 2008 convention. There was one held at the Baltimore Convention Center in 2007 (Started June 23rd). YES for that 2007 one they did guarantee beta access. For the 2008 one it was changed to chance.

Trust mythic to turn an "Open beta" into a paid access "Closed beta".
Look it is inevitable. Long gone are the days when all mmog developers struggled to get enough people to test their game and had to offer obvious free trials and a long open beta etc to suck people in.
An open beta can ruin a launch. If the game is free any tom dick and sally can play and grief potentially driving away the people that have the $ and commitment the game needs to have a reasonable chance of being succesful.
There are plenty of other mmogs with fre open betas and free subscriptions precisely aimed at that market.
This is a premium product and the company have given people plenty of opportunites to apply for closed beta,
Beta is about testing the game and open beta a final set of tests mainly to do with stressing the servers and ironing out relatively innocuous bugs.
A lot of people get into a closed beta never mind an open one and contribute zilch to the testing and even go on to break the contract they agreed to.
I accept this launch has been interesting so far with the pre-order, headstarts and fre items which is obviously more about marketing than testing, but it is also a serious and genuine offer to peopel that are eagerly awaiting the game that meets consumers and the comapnys needs on many levels.
i'm srry that happened to ya man....but to pick up the pre-order a few days before open beta access and expect that the 50k first customer slots haven't been filled yet is a bit foolish. i suppose a tracker or something like that would have been nice, but it wouldn't have been accurate probably.
btw, my post was directed to the OP...not the various other people in this thread that can't figure out how their code works XD

Im sure by now the OP got his beta invite. No patiance; I pre-ordered online and it took about a week and I was sent an invite with my beta code and my head start accessory. I didnt expect to get anything cause for whatever reason I thought you needed to get the CE version for the invite; it was a nice suprise to find I got my invite today.
I preordered from EA back on July 18th, expecting my beta codes to be emailed to me. Apparently EA mails out their beta codes in the actual mail system, how stupid is that? Being in the military, I could end up getting my codes 6 weeks after its done and over with, lol.
I preordered the CE from EA and got my codes emailed to me a few months afterwards. (I preordered about a week after it was announced though)
I'm pretty sure you'll be emailed your codes. You should call and check into that.

Anyone else buy the Pre Order thinking they would get into open beta only too realize that there were no more keys left?
word to the wise
STOP PREORDERING ONLINE.
Jeminy Christmas, what is up with you people lol. I got mine for 99 cents at Target and got the keys...CE preorder for 10 bucks at Best Buy...got the keys.
Guys. Stop ordering off the internet. NEVER preorder MMOs off the internet.
Amazon was great with preorders. I got lucky it showed out of stock 3 or 4 days after CEs were up but then I tryed again a hour later and there were a few up. Basicly outside of amazon though i wouldnt bother with internet pre-ordering.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

WHERE did it say anywhere he was talking about the 2007 convention? It doesn't say it anywhere! I have everything quoted from his original post. And why would they give key for SURE to people a year earlier and then only give keys to some people (which is EXACTLY what happened to his guy) the next year? I would think they would want more and more people as release got closer. You're not proving your point very well. I believe what I see official statements of, not some random guy claiming he's lived in Baltimore his whole life and "remembers".
EA Mythic today announced the schedule of 2007 events where fans can preview "Warhammer(R) Online: Age of Reckoning(TM)." The highly-anticipated MMORPG will be playable in cities across the United States, and gamers will be given access to the MMO's revolutionary Realm vs. Realm(R) combat. At each event, 50 lucky people will be guaranteed access to the "Warhammer Online" beta.
Guess I really got the wax in there deep, huh? I just won't listen.

ROFL learn to read man, I clearly and explicitly stated I went to the Convention before my wife was pregnant, which I clearly and explicitly stated was circa April/May LAST YEAR. I haven't had time to sleep since then, let alone go to a gaming convention for God's sake.
Don't believe me and don't believe him, either, it really doesn't matter to me. The truth is the truth. Just give it up, or do some research on the web on the 2007 Convention. I'm sure it's still out there somewhere.

Hah, thank you! I wondered if anyone would notice he was completely wrong. Sad he lives 10 mins from there and doesn't have the right information and I assumed he was lying and looked it up on the internet in 2 minutes and found out more than he knows, and he was at the convention!
Also, to the other guy that said he is more or less a master tester and they need all ranges of testers for a game. Duh, I realize that. But I was making a point to that guy that thought since he had a high end PC he deserved in the beta more than his friend. And I still think you are wrong, sort of. The devs have high end PCs, they need all the different lower end PCs much more.
I think you seriously need to get the wax out your ear. He is not talking about the 2008 convention. There was one held at the Baltimore Convention Center in 2007 (Started June 23rd). YES for that 2007 one they did guarantee beta access. For the 2008 one it was changed to chance.
I live in Baltimore, have all my life, I remember the announcement as well as the event.
In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.
Caveat Emptor
i'm srry that happened to ya man....but to pick up the pre-order a few days before open beta access and expect that the 50k first customer slots haven't been filled yet is a bit foolish. i suppose a tracker or something like that would have been nice, but it wouldn't have been accurate probably.
btw, my post was directed to the OP...not the various other people in this thread that can't figure out how their code works XD
Wit hthat attitude I am not surprised you didnt get in.
Citing your rig just tops it off for me !
Do you have problems with your reading comprehension? I was GUARANTEED a spot, period. There is no debate on this. WTF, do I have to scan in my effing Convention card from Baltimore last year???
Also, I didn't want to double post here but lies are lies, Traelin. See below:

Im sure by now the OP got his beta invite. No patiance; I pre-ordered online and it took about a week and I was sent an invite with my beta code and my head start accessory. I didnt expect to get anything cause for whatever reason I thought you needed to get the CE version for the invite; it was a nice suprise to find I got my invite today.
I preordered the CE from EA and got my codes emailed to me a few months afterwards. (I preordered about a week after it was announced though)
I'm pretty sure you'll be emailed your codes. You should call and check into that.

I live to fight, and fight to live.
word to the wise
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

WHERE did it say anywhere he was talking about the 2007 convention? It doesn't say it anywhere! I have everything quoted from his original post. And why would they give key for SURE to people a year earlier and then only give keys to some people (which is EXACTLY what happened to his guy) the next year? I would think they would want more and more people as release got closer. You're not proving your point very well. I believe what I see official statements of, not some random guy claiming he's lived in Baltimore his whole life and "remembers".
And again, since I didn't want to take your opinion into consideration, I looked up the 2007 convention as well. First link I clicked on:
http://www.gamershell.com/companies/electronic_arts/333285.html
