8800gts are pretty reasonable price these days, I got one from New Egg for $119 including the shipping. The power for the price can't be beat. I seen other brands like EVGA for like $139 as well.
I have an 8800 gt i got on newegg for 140. card rules. Maybe this is personal preference, but I always suggest people chose nvidia cards over the ati counterparts. in my experience performance vs cost is better time and again.
as far as the 8400, i think it will run it although i wouldnt expect amazing performance.
also, systemrequirementslab sucks. I hate when people refer people there. It is not an accurate benchmark site, it simply tells you if you meet the specs listed on the box for each game. So, say for instance you go there to see if you can run age of conan on your 8400 . That site will tell you "yep, youre all set" which you most definately will not be.

Mate i dont think anyone uses it as gospel on weather your pc will run it well or not. Me and all the people i know use it as a tool to see if the comp will even come close to running it. It should be used as a basic pass fail tool not a my computer will kill this tool.
And also i run Aoc on my 7900gtx just so you know and i can run it on medium also just choose not too
Don't let the people here kid you. You'll be fine for WAR with your current card, not that it doesn't hurt to upgrade your card, but it's not exactly necessary. You should be able to be on high / highest specs either way. The graphic intensiveness is nowhere near as horrid as AoC.
One of the computers I have sitting around ran WAR with 1 gig of RAM, 2.66 Ghz single core, and a geforce fx 5200 on low settings fine. Yours should be way more then sufficient.
In my personal opinion, 8800 > the new ATI cards. The price is much better then the gain, the gain not being a huge margin (while it is there and noticeable, it isn't much) with the new ATI card either way.

it will run on a 7900gtx 512 so if you card is better yes i suspect tho it would perform on par soo maybe either way check out
