Saw this on ZDNet. "No more lockups"? Wait for several months after that, it might change.

I havent been keeping track of this "Chrome thang"

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Well, it's using less memory than FF. Try opening up 20 tabs in FF will make the memory usage go way up. That doesn't happen with Chrome. Unfortunately it's still in beta and I'm hoping for adblocking and other sorts of plugins when it goes final.

Who is going to open 20 tabs? PC's today can do a lot with 2gig ram, even older XP machines with 1 gig are not affected by browsing many web pages. The issue is not apparent as it was back in 1998 to 2002 LOL!!!

This might be good for someone who takes a chance on a porn link with a machine that has 512mb ram and no popup blockers or virus protection. The Joy they will have knowing they can porn surf with multiple tabs opening of all sorts of porn and they won't have a system resource issue.

PS: I see you quoted me but changed my font color back to white, who does that? Anyway I use this font because it is easier to spot threads who quote me on these forums when I am using my portable laptop 7 inch screen. Thanks.

The good part is that it's very good to run some 'online' applications from google and others which are very heavy on javascript, like Reader. It will help to consolidate them.

The bad part is if you're using msexplorer by now then you won't bother for chrome or firefox, probably. It will go more against firefox than against microsoft. Also, I'm very spoiled with addons like Adblock Plus, and NoScript, that I consider necessary, so I'll be staying with firefox.

Why believe Google will develop a browser compatible with ad-blocking?

Inevitably someone will develop an ad-blocker, easy, but there's no way Google will champion it the same way Mozilla gets behind things like AdBlock Plus.

That's one thing to worry about or at least consider though, the way that Microsoft, Mozilla and Google earn their money. Microsoft's hands are in everything including ad revenue, but Google earns nearly 100% of its revenue from ads. Mozilla generates money, even some earned from the four search engine giants, but isn't comparable to the former two.

It'll be really interesting to see how Chrome will effect future browsers. Firefox 3 is out, IE8 is in beta 2, so it's too late for it to have an impact on the most recent iterations. But considering the difference between web applications and desktop applications are disappearing, I suppose it's appropriate that operating systems and browsers become closer to one in the same as well.

Hmm..I've never thought about that, thus I'm hoping that a 3rd party would be doing it. Maybe from the same guys who did the ad blocking plugs for Mozilla.

But you know what.. With Google stepping up, it's nice to see some competition from another giant. :)

Sometime chrome does lock up and it locks up when I go to video sites like gametrailers sometimes. It sometimes starts reading my hard disk for no apparent reason.

Other than that it's running like a charm.

I am using Chrome right now and i am impressed by its speed. A cool feature of Chrome that i like is that it allows you to merge diffenent chrome explorers into a single window and you are also able to remove any tab from chrome and create a new Chrome explorer.

But there is much more than that. If you try chrome please open several tabs in it and the press CTL+SHIFT+ESCAPE to open the task manager and go to the processes tab. (A process is just a program that runs. Please feel pity for computer programmers, they just use fancy words to justify their salaries).

You will notice that there are several processes of Chrome (Chrome.exe) running. That simply means that every tab is actually a different program running. Nice trick Google!

Thus no crashes when one of the tabs fails to display the info you want and the ability to continue serfing without the need to restart the explorer again.
