Providing their game through one of the most popular online game portals on the internet.  Yeah, that's an act of desperation.

Well, this is interesting because AoC is already available for download at Gamersgate.

    http://www.gamersgate.com/index.php?page=product&what=view&sku=DD-AOCEU&cat=rpg

and TBH I am very surprised Gamersgate have allowed this.

    Why?

Well, "Gamersgate" was formally known as "Paradox on Demand"

    http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=243961

and Paradox Entertainment  owns the IP rights to Conan...

    The plot thickens?

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

This is very good news for Age of Conan because FUNCOM gets way more money for digital downloads than it gets for selling the boxes in stores so therefore more money for FUNCOM to continue to develop the game and to make sure the Xbox port is perfect!

Yeah, they'll certainly need it after these figures:

I'll give A+ for enthusiasm, though why I have no clue.

Investors are probably not gamers and so they read the forums and have sold but look at the volume it is super low that means most people havent sold and that means once the available stock gets bought up it will go back up to 20+ in no time at all.  And it will get even better once the Q3 numbers come in and dont forget all of the worlds markets are getting hammered right now for no reason heck even Intel has dropped 25% in the last week for no reason whatsoever.

Considering how rapidly AoC is sliding down the popularity charts all over (including Xfire), I'm not surprised it's on Steam.

I'm having a laugh reading all the stuff ILOVEFUNCON is saying, I'm going to assume he's either: a FC employee or a FC stock holder. I know several people that started playing AoC in beta and quit playing nearly a month after launch and went back to whatever game they were originally playing (WoW or SWG mostly).

ILOVEFUNCON, if you say they'll be arrested for lying as a public company, please please please for the love of god, tell SOE that. :P

It got quiet all of a sudden, I wonder if he got banned or something?

Anyways I'm not surprised that this game is on Steam, hell a lot of games are available from places like D2D from the day it releases so it's not a big deal imo.

It's the opposite of that actually, AoC will be well known by word of mouth, they can only get so many new subscribers through digital download, but a game gains far more potential costumers by a game in a box sitting on the shelf in a store when someone walks by and sees it with curiosity and goes "what's this game?", they'll less likely find it on the internet than off the shelf in a store.
