What's with all the stupid, caps lock titles, ghandi?
I can deal with Guild Wars style graphics. Those pics were just too cartoony. Hope they work on them more before the game is launch.

I honestly can't see anything wrong with them, I think they're excellent.
It's a bit too soon to be judging the graphics just yet. This game hasn't even made to beta yet. When it's in the final stages of beta or actually out in the market, THEN you can start commenting on graphics.

I was expecting the game to have awesome graphics......these just don't make me excited for the success of this game.
WTF was Cryptic thinking when they decided to use their own engine for a next gen title. Their engine sucks.
I want high res textures, tesselation......these screenshots are dissapointing.
Starting over with a new engine would have added years to the development cycle. I think Cryptic decided to use their existing engine to shave of considerable development time. So instead of STO taking 5 years to complete, it may take 3 years or less.
I think STO will be out in 2009 or 2010. If any game compay started off with a new engine, STO would probably be out in 2013 or 2014.
The issue is do you want to play STO, or do you want to play an STO with better graphics sometime in the next decade?
You know, I would rather play STO, because if I have to wait that long for STO I would just give up and move on to better things, like a family.
While I prefer the previous screens, I understand that they may be doing it to save time and money. Some won't like it- but if the gameplay makes up for the loss of shinies, I am sure it will do well enough.

The graphics look no different than those of Star Wars Galaxies. Not great, and not terrible. I'd worry more about the gameplay sucking at this point than the graphics. Graphics can be upgraded. You only get one chance at gameplay (unless you NGE it ).

It better look better than that, and it does. But not good enough. Some of the screenshots are quite horrid. The sample is pretty inconsistent, and I would hope CS releases some new screenshots soon.

So what do you want? Another AoC? We all seen where "great graphics" take you. Like i said, worry more about the gameplay right now.

I knew it, I am glad as hell I have not wasted anymore time posting a bunch of posts on how great this game will be (those screenies look like shit).
Man, I thought that Cryptic was gonna do better than what PE had showed on graphics and now I am regretting PE lost the license. Another flop title in the making.
Some screens look good, some bad, only worrying thing i saw was the predominance of nebula style backgrounds, but those may just be there for the screenies
Generally they graphics look incomplete WHICH IS BECAUSE THEY AREN'T COMPLETE YET , game isn't even shown at beta standards yet quit bitching
The coloring is over emphasized, if they'd tone it down some, I think it would look better.
We must also remember that they are using the engine for a game that is a bit different and they haven't had the title for very long for them to throw out what they did. Give them some time then judge, i was quite pleased that the trailer was all in game footage, they are working really hard to make this a good game
Warrior 41, you already have a thread open for the discussion of the graphics and recieved pages worth of replies.. The majority of the replies were possitive as graphics do NOT make a game. The more computers can run the game the more subs.

On a side note i think the graphics are fine as they are. tweaks will likely be made long before actual release (2-3 years from now) but even if the graphics are not tweaked i'll still go ahead and play it. NOT because i'm a Trek fan, but because the game sounds like Elite/Freelancer with more emphasis on exploring and set in the star trek world, the other alternative is EVE, no thanks, played the trial to death and hated the game.
I'll take gameplay over grafix anytime .. thoses grafix are fine as long as the game is great .
I agree with a few others. You have a thread already open on the same topic. You got responses. Was there a need to open another thread about the same dam thing? Make a thread and stay with it. There is no reason to start another when the first one you started is but a few posts below this one.
The Borg Cubes look pretty bad to me. Kind of like vehicles in Spore. I'm still totally going to play it though.
dude those graphics are awesome, especially for a mmorpg! but you cant please everyone i suppose.
