I don't really see how your post adds any value to the forums, however, we could discuss sea combat here. One thing I always wondered was how the ammo system works. For example if cannons had unlimited cannons balls that could potentially be exploited, however, if they had to be brought on board and mined/constructed, it could potentially take hundreds of hours to fully equip one of the top tier war ships.

As I've followed DF for ~4 years I've often heard how Darkfall isn't a grind, unlike other MMOs. If clans must supply ships with ammo that could possibly be one of the biggest grinds there is. Not to mention the grind to get the boat and the possibility that the boat (a figurine in your inventory) could be looted off you upon death.

Hopefully trade routes provide reason for naval combat. If theres no reason to go on the water, other than to battle, then the waters may empty most of the time.  Also, if the rivers that go inland are not large enough for transportation boats that could be another hit to the whole naval thing.

Personally, I think the naval aspect is being slightly overhyped.  Most clans are going to landlocked.

was kind of just a mirror/joke of my other thread where i give a lot of info about the pve system...sheesh

but yea i figured it would also spark actualy gameplay convo....i just thought that i could post something that didnt involve either defending the game from vaporware trolls or promoting the game

I think whether there's cargo or not some people will find their niche in the game on the high sea's and rarely step foot on land at all.  There will most likely be a good market for stolen ships and plenty of fun to be had.

How will people get to the 4 smaller continents and archipelagos with no boats?

The ship system is going to KICK ASS.

I don't think this ultra-realistic system has even been done before, has it?

I played PotBS beta, and all ship combat is there is that everyone has their own ship that they pilot, shoot from, etc - all done themself.

Which is kind of lame. Darkfall's system - One guy piloting the ship, a bunch of others guys manning the cannons, fighting off boarders, etc, has been my dream of MMO ship combat since forever.

I think you completely missed the point! You can choose to build a shipyard, choose to build ships. get a crew, equip the ships, learn the skills and so on.

This is the reason why there will be players devoting thier time in Darkfall as shipwrights, because they love it.

There wont be any forced grind, as in the way you mean from example WoW.
