I wish I'd never seen Star Wars 4,5,6.

It will never be a WOW killer. Wow could get down to 10 players and it will always be remember as the #1.. the best of all MMO'S. It will do VERY well but wont get 10million players..

Well, one of them tripped over the bullsh*t he kept spreading and has fallen into a pit of fail. Let's hope this next contender will pick up the slack.

    Get real

How do you knock out a 11 million inches tall giant?

It will get lower, maybe down to 10 million, but nobody can knock out such a beast.

WoW is good for the MMORPG market, it get people easily into the MMORPG addiction. Later they will spread out to try other MMORPGs.

Only WoW can kill itself, WaR will grab a few folks from it but most will leave and go back to WoW, and the ppl that are waiting on WaR are ppl that have already LEFT WoW or never played it in the first place, so WoW will be lucky to lose a few 100,000.

-WoW wasnt an MMORPG either, I would classify it as simply an "MMO".  They completely butchered the warcraft storyline, so the "RPG" aspect withered away.  I'm only  pissed because I was a big fan of it, and I still am a Blizzard fan.

-People have to understand that the majority population of players in WoW play for one main reason; loot.  When they see purples their eyes google, no matter how shitty the item is, PvE or PvP.

-Please note: The warcraft story, setting, characters, race-types, etc, were all taken from J. R. R. Tolkien.  Only that the Warhammer storyline was created many years ago, even before Blizzard became a company.   The stolen game aspects from WoW you speak of, they were originally taken from EQ, arguably the first mile-stone true MMORPG.

    You're wrong ;)

lol, anybody with any taste in gaimes will love WAR a lot more than WoW. The latter is teetering out, everyone is having their gear wiped for the 2nd time and I don't think many can be arsed to go through the 10 level grinds once again, just for some boring end game, 1 new BG and Blizzard's renewed attempt at RvR (which looks really bad...)

Will play: not WAR, HELLO KITTY ONLINE!!11one

    Playing: EVE

Played: EQ (+all expansions too), Asheron''s Call 2, Anarchy Online, Planet Side, EQ2, WoW (+TBC), EVE

The pre launch WotLK hype is already starting.

From a low 5.7 million Wow characters played daily in June to a daily 6.7 million characters in the last 3 weeks.

    Stats for US/EU btw.

Build up is exactly like pre TBC launch (1 million up with a boom of 2 more million on launch).

    AOC/WAR or no AOC/WAR.

Only the 0.000001 % minority of Wowhaters.COM  think otherwise. (and even they will buy WotLK secretly).

    Your Wow hate is legendary.

Gear in WOW is wiped every 6 months, so present day Wow players don't care.

Since when are you walking in the same pants every day  in RL ?

Fact: WoW Stole gameplay and features from every game before it

Fact: Mythic developed more features that WoW has stolen then WAR took from anyone.

Fact: WoW was not popularized for its gameplay and grindfest's, It was word to mouth.

Fact: Everything rvr wise in Wotlk is stolen from WAR.

Fact: If WAR becomes word to mouth like WoW was....It will kill WoW....

The very sad thing about WoW is that its mutated to item grindfest. I know that get new item in MMO is nice feeling, but when entire game is around that, the game become so flat and stupid... Thats what most ppls like and hate most in WoW. There are so many other aspects of MMO that can be combined with item achievement that are missing in WoW so its even difficult to name it MMO... Just my opinion.

Where themepark games try to hide that they are copying WOW, games like Mortal Online and Darkfall make no attempt to hide their inspiration

Pheace, nailed it.  No one should take anything minutemaid says seriously.  Sad part is, I believe that he honestly thinks.  That War will de-throne WoW.  A PvE game with PvP tacked on vs a RvR game with PvE tacked on.  They aren't even in the same competition bracket.  So don't go expecting anyone to beat out WoW's numbers till A) Blizzard releases World of Starcarft or B) Blizzard releases World of Diablo.  Otherwise just like all the other people eyeing WoW's subscriber numbers, you are just dreaming to think you can come close to it.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

So, according to your reasoning, LOTRO would be Star Wars 4,5,6.

The word "goblin" pre dates Tolkien by a few hundred years. Just like Orc. So, Tolkien is to nameing his creatures as WoW is to WAR.

Every fantasy genre that uses elfs, orcs, dwarfs, gnomes, fairies, and so on. Are based off Old or even ancient western and asian mythologies. So, the who copied who is a moot point.

Like saying WAR copied WoW. You might as well say that WoW copied EQ. Which is more accurately is they took the elements that were popular and improved on it. Now, it's WAR's turn.

My favorite part is the ways they are improving the game to make it more worth while and more of a game.

Just as advertised by Mythic team. It's a "game" where you play with others and you play competitively. I really like the way the game allows for solo and group play without it ever feeling it is a "must".

     **edit**

I don't think this will be a WoW killer. There are many that have been looking for something that plays a little better then WoW. I think this is the nitch this game has to offer.

PQ's, no corpse run, no repairs, queueing for instanced PVP on the fly, areas on the world for open pvp, pvp has points and rewards that are unilateral through all it's RVR. Honestly that's what I thought WoW would be like. Runing around get to a certain area where you are fighting other players for recognition (equaling rewards). Classes that are unique in play to each race, yet fill their roles in game. I loved the WoW hybrids, but inevitably if I played a druid, paladin or shaman alot of people felt it was my job to heal. never mind these classes other abilities to deal damage or tank (well not shamans to tank). Now if you are a iron breaker, chosen, blade master, black orc...you are the one with the ability to tank.

These posts of it being the "Game X killer" need a bit more perspecive. It's almost as if people need to talk trash about another game to make this game better. Each game speaks for itself. I for one, like WAR's message.

Tolkien's own statements about the real-world origins of his use of the word "orc" are as follows:

"the word is, as far as I am concerned, actually derived from Old English orc 'demon', but only because of its phonetic suitability"[4]

"I originally took the word from Old English orc (Beowulf 112 orc-neas and the gloss orc = þyrs ('ogre'), heldeofol ('hell-devil')). This is supposed not to be connected with modern English orc, ork, a name applied to various sea-beasts of the dolphin order."

See even Tolken copied from something else.

The difference is that AoC was getting constant cries of "Don't release this game! This game, in its state, shouldn't be released on the public!" and so on, while WAR isn't. I haven't seen a single post in any fansite  that this game isn't ready for release; the only thing I've seen is people not liking it for this reason or that, which, regardless, speaks very favorably for the game.

I guess we'll have to wait and see, but this game is entirely on another level than AoC at release.

Yes you are right, Orcs, Trolls, Elfs and Dwarven folks are not Tolkien´s creations, Tolkien´s versions of theses creatures are indeed famous, but I really dont understand why so many people still belives that all came from Lord of the Rings...
