I was just curious. I quit awhile back . Like 4 days after release tbh. I ask because , as I was quitting I was being berated by people telling me "it just released, give it time.". Been three months. CTd's fixed? Pvp system in? Direct x 10 enabled? End game content added? Raid ai fixed? itemization upgrade complete? All that customer service ramping up they were talking about happen? Crafting meaningful? Epic sieges working properly?
Did I really make a mistake by leaving? Were all the people telling me to be patient right?

The number of "Failcom" supporters has grown with an alarming rate from the time you quit until now. What does that tell you?
That's just my 2 cents, let some people with more experience chime in here, but I'm sure they'll basically have the same theme.
Edit: As long as I'm throwing cents in here, nice avatar OP!
The only progress I've seen so far is in system performance, haven't had a crash yet since I returned on Saturday. As for everything else, nope no change in those departments.

AoC just keeps getting worse and worse, but at least its consistent. And they are pretty consistent with the lies and promises also.
i thought as much. Just wanted to check though. Seems the "you will not be missed nub,go back to wow, first mmo release, huh?" people may have not been as insightful as they thought?
Sigh. At any rate, at least I got an avatar compliment out of this.
That's quite a list - the funny part being that not one of those items, not one, has been fixed or added yet.
They fix a bug, but add a new one, with each patch. To be honest, there haven't been many substantive patches in the last few weeks.
It's pretty pathetic. Yes, some keep preaching patience, but it seems that more and more are not willing to give out the unconditional love or have infinite patience like the fanatics.

these are not the 1500 armor sets you are looking for.............
It's pretty funny I think.. Kinda sad though I wasted like Month on this game getting to lvl 80 and getting all my epics.. Then quit going Fail Com Blows!!!
Like Seriously, Wtf So many Damn Promises Yet to be fulfilled.. And Now there talking about an Expansion and adding Dx10 Soon? FIX THE CONTENT YOU already Promised for god sakes... We Can live without Dx10, but not without that Pvp Content Promised to be Ingame 2 MONTHS ago... AoC is the most God aweful boring game at max level.. there is No th i n g to do...

No significant content added (they've redone some stuff in 20-40 areas though), but for most it seems system performance has improved markedly (although memory leaks pop up more).
RIP Blackguard. May a resurrection come.
First thing: Game is more stable now. Some might still get problems so get a free trail or a buddypass to check if your computer can run it.
The siege is much better. Still need some work.
Directx10: come one you knew the answer to that one. Made me supscect you were one of those war trolling over to AoC forum. So: No, not in yet.
Armour sets adn pvp: With the pvp patch it will be some more better looking armor sets out there for every class. To lazy to find you a link. The patch is still not live so: no but currently on the testservers.
Raid instances: getting better but still need some work.
Hope this helps and aswers your questions:)
Sounds almost like how ccp rolls patches out even tho they kinda seein there errors as of late. Most of there patches had bugs so if funcom is the same give it time. Its there first quote unquote success game. GIve them a bit its like all mmos your in for the long haul.
i gave a little review of the game since i kinda finished with it last week. It can be found here

Basically i left because of the AoC community and the constant 'go back to...' everytime i log there is someone getting told to get lost:) the place is dead now as is the game.
See, thats the thing that got to me. I tried to like AoC despite it's many flaws. I looked forward to that game fervently for like 2 years . Then when it released in such sorry state, needless to say I was disapointed. Moreso than that though, I was disapointed in the community. I never saw more douchbaggery in my life on any boards. It was ironic cuz everyone was all "go back to wow noob, where you kids belong" meanwhile, those boards were a bigger cesspool than the wow boards ever dared to be. In game community was slightly better , but not much.
At any rate, I am sad to hear the game has not improved for those of you still playing it. I am however not sorry for the community playing on dead servers. The ones who were so ready to chase people away.
I hope the sentiment "you will not be missed" is ringing in their ears.
I speak as someone who just cancelled his account today that that community never made anything anywhere near an improvement. I have always been willing to overlook a lot of things for the sake of the game, because I enjoyed the lore, enjoyed the graphics (not being a graphical gamer, AoC was my only good graphics fix), and enjoyed the directional combat and combo system as well as the solo pvp. I had five characters I juggled regularly. But the content was still not enough.
I felt really bad too, cancelling, because I liked my main a lot. But I've been playing maybe a few hours a week to accomodate school, and when most of that time is spent waiting for lag to stop, waiting for the game to load, rebooting the game because of problems, or just waiting for the game to get over its crashes altogether, I just cannot see that 15 dollars a month justified. 15 dollars a month so that I can struggle with crashing a few hours a week.
I'd have even overlooked that, as a matter of fact, but two of my other main reasons for playing - it's pretty, and the community, have underperformed. The graphics have NOT been what I expected. Meaning, textures never fully loaded, even after updating my drivers and messing with my settings endlessly. Every few feet something was glitching. At the end of my gameplay I was unable to make deposits into the guild bank - the graphics of the resources were glitching endlessly and it wouldn't respond to my drag and drops. And, as you've said, the community is shit.
I can't even log on with my guild anymore. No one cares about the game. Funcom could have at least merged a lot of servers when they realized there were servers with 20 people on at a time. There's no reason for a server to have that small a playerbase, and they weren't going to get several hundred more players so fast they needed to keep them separate indefinitely.
I was sincerely planning on playing for a long time and watching it grow into a respectable game, but having spent a whole month not actually playing and enjoying it, instead struggling with performance problems and lack of community, I've decided that I can wait a long time and see if it's grown into something respectable. But since they're not getting my money anymore, as well as a lot of other people's, they'll probably just fall out and the game will never reach its full potential. That's sad, because I sincerely thought the combat was revolutionary and it doesn't look like it'll be realized in a polished game for a long time.
All you have to do is watch the interviews with EE 1&2 and with everything he says think the opposite, I played 3 toons one all the way to 80, and it sucked the whole way. the PVP blew do to way to many exploits and broken abilities which are still in game. Them nerfing the gems sucked do to all the money spent on them, they are going to nerf them again! There newest patch for PVP is going to blow! I saw the screen shots of the PVP and Raid gear and personally the stats suck ass (not worth the time to invest). did all this for 4 months and felt victimized the whole way through, and to top it off I was banned for a minor infraction, in which I don't care to mention ever again.
The customer support completely rivals SOE if not worse. I have talked with one commutiy relations rep from FC and it was here at MMORPG.com forums, couldn't get one of those guys to comment on the official forums about anything game related. (maybe they evacuated due to the riot, who knows!)
Anyway War starts tomarrow and hope it has stability, content and everything else AOC is lacking. So to answer your question: "yes, it still sux, and if you like to pay for beta play give it another shot if not, don't resub."
Even if Failcom had bothered to finish the game before they released it, it still would have been a mediocre game at best. The game is simply boring. Quests are boring, graphics (despite being highly overrated) are boring, no character development besides grinding levels, no pvp system, no factions, no general direction on what direction the game is headed, and I could go on all day.
But the number one reason that AOC has failed is Failcoms deliberate attempts to mislead and lie to their customers. Honesty goes a long way in this business, and Failcom is just now realizing that.
