Kinda wished they had a tank class for the humans

EnigmaEnigma Member UncommonPosts: 11,384

I love the human starter area but sadly, Ill never be a tank for them or even the entire Order side for that matter. It seems the only true tank class for the Order side is the Dwarf Iron breaker (and there not even that good). Whenever I go head to head with a Dwarvian Ironbreaker with my Chosen of the same level or even one or two lvls higher, I always win. Never lost against another tank.

The other "tank" class for Order is the sword dancers. That's not a tank. I take them out just as fast as I take out Bright Wizards.

I think the Order side needs another tank. Just my opinion tho

Funny, when I play my Ironbreaker toe to toe with any class of equal level, I win.  You must just be playing against crappy players.  For that matter, when I play an ironbreaker, I must always be playing against crappy players because I always win.  Just because you win against a certain class all the time it is not a testament of the class not being good, so much as the person behind the toon not being so great.

My biggest complaint about lack of tanks is the dark elf PQs are a little rough when no one can take a hit.

Its not the class its how you play it. Perhaps you have yet to figure out how to tank on the order side properly.  I dont think they would make one realms tanks superior to anothers.

This is something they need to address early after release. I still fail to understand why they couldn't release with a class for every archetype for each race. It's common practice to tweak things once the game gets up and running, so I don't get the big deal. Mark said they weren't "fun enough" or that beta testers didn't like them. In my opinion, the current classes are okay, but none of them are real barnburners. I was even getting equipment drops for the Blackguard during the Preview Weekend. To me, the missing classes make the game feel even more unfinished.

The Ironbreaker is more geared for tanking several people than a single person, so yes, in a 1v1 he is not as powerful, but in a 2+v1, you'll find him to be much more effective than the Chosen.

Totally agree and understand that.  That is a concept I have stressed to people with little effect.  Heh  People will still find a way to complain about imbalance, and things being overpowered/underpowered.

Well, this argument is always shaky ground because it can be true, and it can also be used as a cop-out.

I had my heart set on playing a Knight of the Burning Sun. Hope they bring them back in the near future.. nothing like a tank with a plumed helmet.

Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

I feel just the same. Also lore-wise its a shame that the imperial Knights are goners. Quite a shame.

Is it true Sword Dancers die so easy? Wow, thats bad, because I had thought on rolling one. :(

I just cant stand to play Dorfs - no offense, just not my thing.

I hope they add the Knights somtime soon, hopefully.

EDIT: Now there is no class called Sword Dancer, as I see. There is Shadow Warrir - a DPS ranger, and Sword Master - a guy who can wield a shield and is SUPPOSED to be tank. Which of the two do you refer to when you say they are easy to kill?

You don't need tanks when you have 50 bright wizards melting faces.

I was just playing order/human for the first time, doing a public quest and was flabbergasted by how fast we were taking down champions and heroes.

I have never seen anything like that on the desto side.

So ya, desto has better tanks, BO are very good to, but order has better range. Or just more range making them better.

yes. Sword Dancers die very fast. At least when pitted against a Chosen. Its about 7 whacks and they're down (even level). It is literally almost like fighting against a Bright Wizard but you have melee dps to worry about versus ranged dps.

Im with you about dwarfs. I can't play one. I don't know what it is but its like playing a gnome as well. I just cant play Dwarves/Gnomes.

I love Chosen (itll be my main) but I have yet to find a good, strong tank on Order side and the Ironsmasher isn't all that. I also experienced this on the RvR realms. If I am a Chosen and I do not see any priests around to kill first I always make a straight line to the Dwarf tanks........only because I cant stand the sight of em lol.

Then Ill go for the Bright Wizards (cause they are really cocky at times) and then I go for the Elf Archers and then the pretty lion gals.

Just to point out what the original post is meaning is there is no TANK ARCHTYPE in the Empire. There is Rogue/ Melee DPS (Witchhunter), Wizard/ Range DPS/ Nuker (Bright Wizard) and Healer/ melee DPS light (Warrior Priest).

There are Tanks for the  Dwarf  race on the IIronbreaker. It is a Tank archtype/ Melee DPS. On the Destruction side there is the Chosen and The Black Orc which are both Tank archtypes. Oddly, neither of which can stand toe to toe with an equal level Ironbreaker.
