From what i can see on this fiasco from GOA, is that GOA didnt intend on letting mass amounts of people into Open beta today.
They only wanted to TEST their log in servers
This was kinda confirmed by Magnus in one post, which i will highlight and post here as proof. Once the serves calm down.
To be honest, this kinda of treatment towards the paying public will have serious consequences to the really annoyed and fed up players.
Ever since 08:30am this morning thousands tried to log in. we were told to create a new account, yesterday.
So for 8 hours everyone created a new account. Only to be told by GOA / mythic that we didnt NEED to create one.
Surely someone should have told us LAST NIGHT!!!!

This is why pre order beta is bad.......you guys think your special, and turned the beta user into a "paying user".
Open beta is to test the login servers/main servers, and beacuse its a test you get a free look at the game, o wait you had to pay.
Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7
It seems GOA was paid to begin work on the september 7th, since they could have begun this earlier.
quote:
"we consider the 7th as our true launch date. From this date forwards we will be providing services to paying customers."
They got 4 hours till midnight to begin deliver service to paying customers, since only free beta testers are in yet
Wrong. No one "paid" to be part of the beta by pre-ordering the game. The price you paid for the pre-order is subtracted from the price you will pay for the retail box when you go pick it up on launch day. So if you paid $5 on your pre-order, the retail box will cost $5 less on launch day. Also, if you decide during beta that the game isn't for you, you can cancel your pre-order and get that $5 back. So you're not out any extra money to test the game regardless of if you end up buying the game or not. Of course this probably varies from store to store, but everywhere I've ever pre-ordered or bought games from this has been the policy.

Well done on totally missing the point..oh and i see you have this attitude because you are from America and your beta is up and running. If Goa are not ready to let players in a week from launch then the launch of the game will be a disaster.
They told us that every thing was fine with their servers and that they expected no problems, they were even cocky in saying this....I am sure you wouldn't have this attitude if you were a european player, perfect case of "i got my beta screw the rest of you" you don't deserve to be a community manager if you are going to post nonsense.
OB was not however to test account auth processes by GOAs own admission. Half the community have been telling GOA that opening up account creation pages hours before OB went live was a recipe for failure, but GOA told everyone that this would not be a problem. IanC wrote: "our website has already been dealing with traffic that makes the expected rush for signups pretty trivial. We get more visits per day that the total number of open beta keys in existence across the world. We have launched major timed events before and we have a lot of experience in making sure that key systems are able to handle the pressure. The account pages are coming, they have been tested thoroughly and we aren't concerned about the stability of the server"
All this rubbish about stressing auth servers is just embarrassing firefighting by GOA. Today has been an absolute joke, even for a beta.

hey man, if your talking bad about america then were gonna kick yo ass!
This is an outright scam by GOA.
I see little evidence that they have any intention of letting new OB players log on today.
They have given out close to 1/2 a million beta keys yet they are surprised when 2 million NON unique visits hit their site (4/user is very low).
This was a login server test. Why they didnt simply says "07/09 we will stress test the login servers. 08/09 will be open beta" I will leave you to decide.
<edit>
EA & D2D players were charged more than everyone else with an implied advantage of open beta. Simple reason would conclude that their server capacity and testing timescales are insufficient. Frankly I find it hard not to accuse GOA of deliberately misleading the public.
Bottom line: How many people would have paid for open beta access if they knew that they wouldnt get in until monday and would be kicked out thursday/friday to prep head start?

Note: PlayNC will refuse to allow you access to your account if you forget your password and can't provide a scanned image of the product key for the first product you purchased..... LOL
Actually... might not be a bad idea. GOA France ---> that way. Please... show no mercy.
I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
What a load of whining - its beta for crying out loud - and as everyone predicted this would happen today, I wonder why you even spent the day trying

You're the one posting nonsense, really. What are you entitled to? Oh, that's right...nothing. They said they were going to let you play OB, it didn't happen because they weren't ready. But don't feel like you are losing out on anything, because so far you aren't. Not anything tangible anyway.
That's sometimes how it goes. I can understand your frustration as it has happened to us to with other games. But don't take it out on others simply because they don't have your problem. You could be right about GOA having problems on launch day, since they are having problems with OB launch, but at the same time, realize they have a week to get the stuff fixed. But regardless, welcome to the world of development. You have several different publishers to choose from, but you don't always know if they will be ready or not. GOA apparently wasn't ready. You could try sending your message to the people who count, such as the people with Mythic, so that they can put pressure on GOA.

Total BS. Funny how my CC was charged the full Dollar amount so that I could pre-order and get the beta code. Sounds to me like I paid for the privlage to test your product. Which I will be cancelling before it ships and I get stuck with it.
No matter how you want to spin this you failed totally in your preparations. I can't wait to see how your game impolodes when you really get hammered on a patch day by even more people.
Oh well just more of the same old BS we have seen from this genre of games for over a decade. It never changes and never will as long as the inbreeding of devs continues and people keep supporting crap companies
Until they fix it we dont actually have OB access. We paid for OB access. I can understand if the servers are unstable, the gameplay is bugged or some classes are nerfed to unplayability but by asking us to pay for OB there is a distinct implication that the 'ACCESS' part will be bug-free.

Why anyone would even consider paying to be a betatester is beyond me - next you will be paying to go to work
People have been doing that since the Dark Ages of Camelot to no avail.
I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
hey man, if your talking bad about america then were gonna kick yo ass!
However, you are not an American.
Because ...even Europeans know the difference betwen "your" and "you're".
You do not, so you must be Asian.

Actually since you paid it is more then an implication, it is a contract which they are now in breech of.
Keep supporting this type of crap service and you will keep getting it from these companies that know they can treat you like BS and get away with it.
I have to laugh at all of the apologists that try to make it sound like it is your fault. Typical pre-teen response from them

Think you need to check your information a bit more, this is not true here in Sweden atleast. We not getting any 5 bucks back or anything, we can buy a preorder early launch / open beta package. So we are paying customers for the open beta.

So you paid 5 bucks to be a betatester! - Why on earth did you do that? It dosent make any sense!
I will never understand this ridiculous mentality some people have of complaining about people complaining.
We have EVERY right to complain on this one. GOA messed up - there's no denying it.
Now go away, you're not helping one bit.
So you paid 5 bucks to be a betatester! - Why on earth did you do that? It dosent make any sense!
The money i wont miss really, but I did pay for a product, and I expect the party I buy it from to keep up their end of the deal. Sure, its a smal sum overall but I still payed it. If you buy a ticket to the movies on sunday as thats the day you can go, and when you get to the movies, they say your movie will start at 21:00, tuesday. Would you accept that?
And I did not pay to be a betatester, i payed for a package that contained open beta and early access. Not that it matters.
There can be only one
I won't read all what you wrote
but simply:
PreOrder contract =
1) Warhammer retail version
2) Earlier access to the game
3) An access to Open Beta
if I didn't got one of these, then they cheated
so simple huh?
It should say:
"Access to the registration server open beta"

It reminds me of the first days of WoW. I think that is a good sign for them.
Seriously cause you havent gotten to log in yet youre going to b*tch and complain. Let them do what they are going to do, they arent going to move any faster because you are whining in a forum.
Go outside *gasp* and play some cricket, enjoy the day and dont get upset over a game that will change, be more polished up, and erase all your work prior to release 8 days from now.
