I'm amazed at the amount of people who still don't know about this game.   That's why i've taken it upon myself to post in every forum of every game i play, linking darkfall and it's beta/video, and even features/faq if needed.  Trying to get the word out there, the more people the more targets

Well hopefully Aventurine and their publisher go into marketing mode soon.  But for now word of mouth and the fans are doing a fine job.  Which i think is the way games should be developed before release.  Start the official hype machine once you have a set it stone release date.

Tasos said this game will speak for itself.  And if it releases with the features it boasts and they maintain it well, then it is pretty much a given that he will be right.

So many people have their eye on this game, whether they want to admit it or not.

Could be the next big MMO experience that changes the genre.  Could also be one of the biggest flops ever.  We'll see in beta.

After seeing the latest video I am stoked. After waiting for AoC and getting completely slapped in the face long before even playing it I became very selective in what games I watch. This is one of them, it looks like a very memorable experience. Forget "the next big thing" Darkfall is beyond that, it will be very enjoyable. The community is one of a kind, I am excited. I am rolling ranged fighter.

    I don't think there's a game in existence with a community to match Darkfall's.

And I mean that quite honestly.

The sheer dedication, loyalty, and willingness to pwn face is epic to say the least.

Darkfall is big, its reintroducing something  back  into the  decadent  world of modern  MMORPGs.

Its a little something called player freedom which hasnt been captured in my opinion and of many like me since UO (and the early phases of some other games), its about real community and not your elite neon items of uber destruction (which the only thing you did for was put more hours into the game then your fellow gamer). Its about creating yourself a reputation, its about carving your own path and having a real influence in the game. Its about the trembling hands the first time a player attacks you and the adrenaline rush when you track him down after and exact your revenge.

Its coming ladies and gentlemen, its Darkfall.

I wonder how the new generation of MMO players will handle the freedom?  Willthey just stand there and wait for something to happen? Or will they be the most hardcore players to investigate everything?

I predict that the first month of the game you will see a lot of posts complaining that there is no content in the game because people have been trained to have their hand helds with ? and ! symbols that tell them what to do.   And they are use to basically following a linear path.

Having the freedom to do whatever in a player driven world is going to confuse a lot of people and they will ultimately take that confusion and interpret it as a bad game.

Honestly, I'd wait to make sure they actually run a beta before you go promoting the game. Remember they promised beta in 2003 and 2005, and nothing ever came of it.

Don't get me wrong. I hope there is a beta this year. I hope the game is released this year, as promised, and turns into a whopping success. However, due to past history I've no intention of signing up for yet another beta - it's just not worth it. I'll wait until the game is released, and if gets good reviews, I'll dive in with great enthusiasm.

I think people have become perhaps a little too eager since the new video and beta apps.

I surely hope that the game will release in 2008, but I would rather be a pessimist and say that it will be somewhere in 2009. Im pretty confident that we will see a ' open ' beta this year though, as the frequency of updates and information about this matter has increased quite a bit the last few weeks.

I just keep on hoping Darkfall will be what all of us hope it will.

why are you surprised, they havent done any real marketing for the game, at least not compared to the big studios. so of course alot dont know about it.

its us, the fans, who are doing all the work really, and it seems to be working pretty good, with 100k+ signed up on their forums. Think about it, this is only the spear-head, the most avid fans.

for each of us, we will pull in another friend or two when the game releases, at least if beta shows us the game can live up to the hype.

My estimate is 150-250k subs first month after release, but we might end up with even more =) i cross my fingers.
