Folks,

"As you might have expected, Mythic has been talking to GOA for the entire day about today's events. GOA is still our partner and no matter what the difficulties are right now, we must act as partners. I expect you'll be hearing more shortly.

Mark

P.S. The key Mythic personnel (including yours truly) have been involved in these discussions since way too early this morning. Hopefully that will give you some comfort on how seriously we are taking things."

Posted on the VN boards.

This is the end of GOA and Mythics' partnership I'll wager.  About time in my opinion.

can i get a link please? oh and i dont think theyll destroy a partnership over this its too much hassle and too close to launch for them to risk losing the partner

There's a funny tone to that statement. He's implying that a Mythic is dissappointed with GOA lol

Can't link it for some reason.  It's on page 13 of one of the main EU threads there.

For the short term I doubt Mythic has any choice but to stay with GOA, it's probably far too close to launch to replace them.

Wouldn't assume they're dead but they must've gotten told off badly for sure...

    Folks,

I just got off the phone with senior management at GOA and I know you'll be getting lots of information shortly. I know it doesn't make today better but I can assure you that leadership is very aware of the situation and they are doing/going to do something about it. They are not at all happy about the situation either.

I won't say trust me on this because right now, our European fans have no reason to have any trust. I will say though to see what transpires before launch, during Open Beta and then, if we launch well, I hope we will regain your trust.

Indeed, but negligence and ineptitude are always grounds for 'dismissal'.

GOA have potentially cost Mythic a fortune, and that won't be tolerated.  MJB has issued a very loaded statement there, and with his track record with the community so far, he means business..

im sure mythic is very deeply  dissapointed in GOA for giving such bad PR for the game thus costing them subscriptions..i am SURE there will be consiquenses.

Well, if players/mythic actually listened to all the DAoC Europe players since the launch of DAoC you would all know GOA are complete imbeciles. They totally ruined DAoC for a LOT of people and Mythic are partly to blame for going with the cheapest route.

Maybe GOA and Funcom should merge, keep all the idiots in one place.

Will not be buying/playing WAR just for the fact Mythic went with GOA again, some people never learn

Very fair comment, and unfortunately, absolutely true.

Question:  If GOA played Funcom at American Football, would the ball ever be off the floor?

Well I'm thoroughly confused. What exactly happened with GOA /what did GOA do to cause this drama?

Some more info on all of this would be appreciated.

Well for starters, they have a flash addicted Webdesigner for starters. This is were the root of frustration with EU playerbase lies already.

The EU WAR website is full FLASH and horribly coded. Badly outdated and hardly updated.

EU playerbase have been complaining for months towards GOA to replace this piece of garbage with something actually working and professional!

They ignored all this and sticked to FLASH!

To make matters worse, they kept launching their Account Center up till the very last minute before Open Beta (wich is ofcourse also in full FLASH glory mind you).

We all were telling GOA for over a week up to two weeks to launch the Account Center earlier, because with over 200.000 people with Open Beta keys, they need to spread out the load or dissaster will happen.

Yet they even posted up to yesterday in how confident and arrogant they were that they've tested everything through and through and that everything will go smooth today. The expected load would be peanuts they said and no problem for their infrastructure!

Well, embrace yourself as here it comes:

The moment the Account Pages went up, disaster actually happened. As we all were expecting, except GOA themselves.

This whole day has been a total Catastrophe for the EU playerbase as no one has been able to even create an account at all!

The overconfident Community Managers up till yesterday were ofcourse deadsilent and mute all day! Until this evening when the head CM posted an even more arrogant update making the EU playerbase even more upset.

    Cheers

Well first of all, they did zero advertisement for DAoC Europe (a few postcards in one shop doesn't constitute advertisement) which meant there were very few players to start with.

GOA are based in France and the interweb/network/backbone whatever was/is not very reliable, huge amounts of connection issues, latency, poor routing. Not suitable for online gaming.

The patches to DAoC Europe servers were and probably still are 8-10 months behind the US servers. The reason? Translation, US English and English English are very different. The 'English' servers had to wait for the patches to be translated into German, French, Spanish and Italian so GOA wasn't showing any favortism, was also to stop everyone crowding onto the English servers.

Customer service was even worse than the Funcom customer service..... yep it was THAT bad!

Downtime/Security - I don't know exactly what happened because I was playing a few different online games at the time. The game went down for a week or so because someone hacked the account details (I think, can't remember) and all passwords were changed and reissued, since many didnt update their email addresses many people lost their accounts. Downtime was pretty awful from what i can remember - 18+ hour downtimes?

I'm sure there are many other stories about GOA

    LIES!!

Thanks for the info, I somewhat get the anger now. Basically just a bad company in charge of the EU stuff (which seems stupid coming from a sister company of EA, you would think they could get a little bit of quality with the amount of cash they make) is what I'm getting from all of this. Looks like Mythic is screwed though and is going to have to roll with them.
