I didnt pre order anything, or put down any money, or anything.  Bit Torrent.

Well, I received this e-mail today (see bottom for copy of actual e-mail)... go figure.. Seems the 3 to 5 business days was yet again untrue, unless they sent it next day, which I highly doubt. I will advise on receipt, sheese... grrr  I so wanna mess around with the disc. Installed Diablo II & the Lords of Destruction Expansion set, Balder's Gate (the original), Doom III, and am currently messing around with Halo (since the sequel is coming soon) and Enter the Matrix on XBox to satiate my thirst for games until Nov 15th  lol ugh...  image

well, forget that, copy anbd paste wont work in here ... but I receibved an e-mail from Gamestop.com saying my oder has shipped on 09-30-04 and it included a tracking number. When you try to track it, you are told the item did not have tracking purchased for it... lol Nic Gamestop, you cheesy bunch of jerks... seems best Buy might get a visit from me very soon..  image

THat sucks man. The tracking numbr they give you is nothing more that the number in their database of your shipment. It doesnt realy mean anything, and as you have found it wont track anything, save possibly your understandable frustration. I would deffinately hit that Best Buy. It is always more preferable to be able to physicaly get the disk at the time of the pre-order. Not that there is always a problem with having it mailed out, just my personal preferance, alot of people I know got theres via snail mail in a timely fashion. Its just not gauranteed, but hell, what ever is...and dont anyone say "death and taxes"

Upon logging into my account on Gamestop Online, I see the Kit was shipped with USA Overnight yesterday. It hasn't arrived yet, so I guess Monday. No clue what USA Overnight (as a shipping option) is. lol Cheap rates I guess, hence the no tracking info  lol ugh...  Monday the Yeti will either be very happy or very ticked off ...lol   (crosses furry claws)

Well, if I ever had any doubts, I'll avoid the local Gamestop like a $2 crackwhore after hearing this one.

Given the Avatar, I suggest going down there and getting all Bubba Ho Tep on their ass if it doesn't show by Tuesday.

Edit: Bah, changed from the Bruce Campbell avatar already.

Amazing how quickly the threat of a bludgeoning will get you the desired results.::::40::

Serriously, if you go down there and start making a stink, if they have a manager with half a brain, they'll get you your CD, and a gift certificate or something for your trouble.

lol sorry, 4 av changes already today hehe  and there is NO WHERE to go down to, I purchased from gamestop Online, I DID go to the local store, they told me I have to deal with the Online CS idiot's, since I purchased Online. This was done as well, I "supposedly" have the bonus stuff in the mail, as the Online Store "My Account" details advise... just waiting on delivery yet... ugh  image

p.s. If I went in there and showed my "Yeti fangs" besides my Yeti looks IRL, lol my former co-workers would have to put me in a cage, and Yeti's do NOT fare well in cages lol  image  hehe  (It was hard enough to work at the cages for 10+ yrs) lol

OK, Cold, you got me all in an uproar (in a good way hehe) so, I calle3d the local Gamestop again and complained to the continual run around with the Starter Kit from their Online store. The kid who answered remembered me (lol I only went in there once, a month ago, to buy Doom III, told ya I am huge hehe) and he remembered my voice... made an impression eh?  lol He put me on hold, just now, and talked to the Mgr, they set aside a disc for me, and I am heading out the door to get it now lol cya in a bit hehe  sweet

I feel for you having such a bad experience with GameStop; fortunately, I've not had such an experience and use them almost exclusively because they get games overnighted to me the day of or the day after an official release and days before brick and mortar stores.

I hope your frustration was satiated by the starter kit. I was actually a little disappointed but I think I'm just so wanting to play the game that I build it up too much. The only consolation is that MAYBE Half-Life 2 will be out a few days before EQ2 goes live. image

Thx, the really awesome experiences I have had in person, at the local Gamestop store, will keep me a customer, but the Online Company can bite me... hehe

Congrats on finaly getting the disk man. It is just almost always better to deal with someone in person in my opinion. online or on the phone you are just a empty voice or worse, a number. In person it makes you real and it is harder to dismiss you. And based on what you have said concerning your physical attributes it would make it damn near impossible to dismiss you.

And I myself have been playing D&D since before they were in hardcover. I still have the original Gygax pamphlets.

  • IowaYetiIowaYeti Member Posts: 468
Thx V, yeah I am, very happy with the local guys and the starter kit. I, too, have the original D&D literature still,  also... not too mention many MANY hard to get original items, like the Fiend Folio that was recalled due to Copyright Infringement with the Melnibonian(sp?) & Chutulu(sp?) Mythos hehe  be back in a bit g uys.. lil Yeti's must sleep  lol  image
