i was trying to log in right when they were down, thats why it wasn't working!

Same thing. When i started to patch and got up to the agreement page, it closes with an error.
Mine went through.
The servers went down for maintenance about 45 minutes ago (8AM EST). The 'note' section on the launcher says they are expected up around 10:30AM EDT.
Perhaps once they come back up your error will go away.
I was getting them. Restarted. All fixed.
how big is patch? and is it like " download and patch up ; etc wow "
or download file. update.. download update.. ( etc lotro/l2/most of other shit free mmorpgs ) ?
Most likely not the same issue at all, but it did happen to me just last night. I tried logging in and it was giving me an error right away. I had been playing earlier in the day so it was working. Turned out that when I logged off, warpatch.bin had stayed running. I found it in my processes. Once I killed that, the patcher started working normally for me again and I could log in.
Thus for for me it was one minor large one about 200 MB and after the restarts there are a few small ones 10-15MB. Very fast. Folks have said there's a mongo one out there waiting for the 15th so we'll see.
I hope (if there's a huge one out there) that they filter the patching by CEs versus Standard versus New Buyers so that everyone (this pertains more to CEs/standards) doesn't have to wait as long.
We'll see come the weekend, I suppose.
