Lag

I am thinking about getting this game (again) but the first time I got it it was very laggy. Now, the lag was probobly due to the fact that I had only 128mb of Ram at the time, wich is only the minimum sytem requirement. But recently I upgraded to 256mb of Ram and I'm thinking of getting this game again, all I need to know is "Will it still be laggy (I mean real bad lag, I can handle the ocasional lag) even with the recomended Ram?" I don't see why it would, because the product recomends it and all, but I have hear that it is.

Thanks

There is a difference between low FPS and lag. Low frames per second is caused by lack of DDR RAM and your processor and GPU. Lag is your bandwidth or the server. Now here is the kicker, it may have been both. Your RAM is very low to be running SWG and that may result in laggish FPS. Your graphics card may be weak too. Any card under a Radeon 9600 pro may have to chug SWG on very low settings to avoid chopping. The servers on SWG are notorious for what they have done in the past. In SWG's first month there was little lag but the rumor is that the SWG devs got complaints about dial up users having problems with lag so the devs ADDED lags to the servers to make everyone equal. The rumor may have been true, but I never really looked into it. I only gave SWG 2 weeks. Your bandwidth may be low. Running your perfered messager could slow it down. Running mmorpg.com in the backround can and will slow it down. Ironic at times, mmorpg.com makes mmorpgs run slower. Not sure why.::::39::

    Yea, I have a Radeon 9200.

So it would be laggy? Man I don't get any lag in COH...

You can pull up your FPS on CoH with shift and + I think.

For the recommended requirements on the box, I'd say CoH would run at a smooth 40-50 fps. Any lower than that and you should dumb down the settings. SWG has more demanding specs than CoH. To see if it is your gpu, turn down the settings to low and see how many frames you get compared to the settings you have now. If it is not the GPU it is lag, your processor [quite unlikely. Any P4 will run it nicely] or your RAM. Nothing you can do to check your RAM except ctrl alt delete, precesses, and see how much memory your programs are taking up. I think that if your RAM is halfway full then it will run very choppy and perhaps crash. If its not that, it is normal SWG lag.

I have a GeForce 6800 GT and I was 'lagging' with 512MB RAM. I found a spare 256MB stick to add and the difference is amazing. For this game I wouldn't recommend anything less than 768MB of RAM ideally.
