Why are people setting up guilds?

JTXLJTXL Member Posts: 4

I understand pre-existing guilds from other games where people all know each other and have gauged skill level, but it seems many new guilds are allowing people in at random and I was wondering why?Should

you not play a bit and gauge someone skill assuming you are not a pre-existing guild from another game.  If

Darkfall is anythiong like most MMO's I have played 60-70% of people are really not that good or have very

little understanding of how to truly play the game. I am not saying I am great or anything just wondering. Or is

it just about zerging?  I myself plan to play for a few weeks and gauge guilds with skill, good leadership and

well though out stratagies for combat and making money, then applying.

Because in DF you don't -have- to level up, and you can control land so there'll be a huge land rush at the start of the game, and the clans that have already formed before the game starts will win that rush.

    What he said.

In short, clan cities must be claimed and then built already pre-existing 'clan stones.'  These clan stones act as a respawn point for the clan, allowing a clan to bind 100 people to each stone.

    According to the devs:

"There are 44 unique massive clan city sites like that one in Darkfall and 53 unique clan villages and hamlets"

So with only 44 clan cities for all six races, you can see why people are making clans now.

I hope that my clan of 10 - 15 people can grab an out-of-the-way village.

I joined a clan already, and here is my reasoning. When the game first starts,  with the world being 100% PvP, I think going out solo is a bad idea, and certain death. You lose all your items, all your gear. Join a clan, you at least have some friends who will adventure off with you. By the time 2 weeks rolls around and you're done "gauging" guilds, i'll be well established in my clan's territory and have many new friends. I think of it as a headstart.

As unfair as it seems, those allowed in the Beta stage will be able to figure out which area is the best to colonize depending on how many people they have or can bring into their fold to create a larger and more stable Clan.

Having 100 people right off the bat charging at a city is going to be top priority, and that requires weeks of organization.

Even one lone beta tester will be able to determine the ideal spot for this idea, and when he/she comes back with 99 friends on day 1 you can bet he/she's got no remorse in stepping over anything in his path to get it.

I was wondering, does anyone have a link for the world map? I was looking for it but with no luck yet.

they are probly setting up guilds for getting into "guild beta" which is part of the entries for beta, also, alot of poeple like to "pre set up" guilds in order to get and edge since after all it will be a very hardcore game where the grittiest and fastest buildup guilds survive and the others follow suit. also alot of them are bored and have absolutely nothing better to do with there time than make up a guild with there cool awsome name for whatever reason they may have. I dont really get it myself, but it is for sure that DF wont be for the feint of heart so it will probly end up making or breaking a guild depending on how well scructured it is at the beginning when they make it on the official forums. Plus they get to know there members before they eveer see them ingame making team workbetter as far as some im sure are concerned. But yea, there are probly tons of reasons that they are already making guilds, I just wonder how many of them will break or never get organized because none of the members have any kind of vent or TS to get organized and fine the same server .

Yeah but alot of people probly think that the people making guilds before the game is even in beta are just abunch of loser kids with no life sitting in the basement of there homes eating popcorn and doing nothing with there lifes. Which may be true for some, false for others, but one thing we all know for sure, DF will be hectic when it starts and im pretty sure that 99% of the guilds being formed on the official forums wont even make it. I really wonder how many poor noobies that are too carebare will quit dark fall before even getting to see half its features, its a shame really, but with alot of the noobies joining guilds, "the ones that survive" I can see them having a more enjoyable experience and in tern, ensuring more people staying ingame and not just quitting after day 1

Some alliance's in DF have  ~3000 ACTIVE members.  And the game is not even in beta yet........

Hmm letz see ... BdW about 1500 registred Members.

About - roundabout - 200-300 active Member in diffrent MMOs.

Well setting up a Guild really not :) .... it is more the hope of a really free new world and not another easy to handle mmo. There will be a lot of fights about the room for setting up an guild and a lot of people think it is easy to start and keep a guild alive, but it isn't really not!

Most of recruitment posts are not representing willing to settle new guild in forthcoming game.

It's just a "something to do while waiting".

Same goes with being "recruited" into guild. People accept virtual guild tags years before official launch. I doub't 50% of them even buy game if/when it gets available.

For me, getting into a guild and talking about the game is like foreplay. Since I can't play the game, I'll fantasize and get warmed up for the killing that is to come. And the other technical land grab stuff.
