I have a question regarding the Preorder codes and account status.
Alot of people who preordered the SE from stores (such as Gamestop) were given the CE bonus codes. I have heard some people say that the CE codes will only work with a CE Account (Even though the bonuses are the same - minus 1 extra day of head start).
So basically, some people said that if you have CE codes on your account, you will be unable to enter a SE CD-Key come release. Does anyone know if this is true? I don't want to spend time during the Headstart to see that I can't use that account when the game is released.

I haven't seen anything official, but the word is that you can do the CE head start, but when you enter your SE retail code your head start progress will be lost.
Sorry I can't confirm this.
No doubt it will seem unfair to those who pre-ordered the SE and got CE codes, I would recommend calling the place you bought from to get the correct codes to avoid any dissapointment. It will also seem unfair to those with SE codes who in theory could have scammed an extra day head start.
This is a nasty situation where there appears to be no easy solution that won't piss off a lot of people.
If it were a HS issue, I would just not play until the day the servers are up. But it seems as though they are saying that you can't even enter a SE code into a Mythic account that has a CE preorder code enabled. Which get's even more annoying if that was your prior Mythic account for DAOC... But now most people have the non CE codes gone to waste too (for the ring and camp site).
It's quite frustrating that they haven't released any information about this issue seeing as it happened to a whole lot of people. An official statement regarding this would really be nice.
As for getting a new set of codes, it seems most places are completely out of their codes, so that won't be an option.
But realy, is it worth it to frustrate so many people just over ONE day of extra play time. Seriously... It's not like people are getting something of value. Just one day of extra play time causing this whole issue.
This is already leaving a sour taste in my mouth to be honest.
I hear what you're saying, but if they give SE's the extra day, that will piss off the rest of the SE's that have regular codes and the CE's who want to feel special and don't want the SE scum with them on the first day (j/k). Or you take it away, thus giving SE's no head start at all because some game store gave the wrong codes and they are punished through no fault of their own.
It seems like this isn't exactly Mythic's fault, but the fault of the game store and Mythic is left to fix the mess in the best way possible.
I certainly wouldn't like to be the guy solving this one.
Looks like I might as well just make a new account and lose the codes I put in (HS isn't a big deal, neither is OB since I am barely playing it, but I would have liked to have the preorder Ring/Camp).
I really didn't think the one day of HS was going to make such an issue between the SE/CE codes. On week 3, wait, even day 3, will that extra day mean anything to anyone? I highly doubt it.
I just hope they don't drop the ball on this one because this could anger quite a bunch of people.
If CE codes have gone out to a significant number of people the only thing they can do really regarding the head start is to give the same to SE and CE customers. Maybe throw the CE guys another bone to appease them?

I have codes for a different version of the game than the one I pre-ordered. Will this affect me after launch?
Pre-order codes, both Collector’s and Standard Edition, have no effect on your account after launch. All pre-order customers are able to access the Open Beta, Head Start, and receive the in-game items regardless of the codes and version they pre-ordered. For example, a Standard Edition pre-order who accidentally received a Collector’s Edition pre-order card will be able to enter a Standard Edition code at launch without penalty; however, you would not receive the exclusive content included with the Collector's Edition itself.
Call me shallow, but if I'm going to invest time in a character, I have to like the names I use, and I always tend to use the same handful of names in my mmo's.
Nothing like Legolas or Drizzt or Sephiroth, but the names I tend to use are very fantasy cliché and tend to get taken quickly. I don't fancy myself playin a character named Bill or Ted or Tiuopilou or some other made-up name since that's all that was left.
For me, the only thing I really care about is the headstart, even if it's only one day--more than enough time to make placeholder characters until the codes come in.
Even the names weren't the biggest deal to me. I could have asked a friend to hold the name for me.
Thanks for the link, clears it all up now!
