2 Questions

This game as been out for awhile now, so I don't understand why the dev did not make a fully customizable interface yet.  Sure, you can get used to it, but I am sure that many players would prefer to be able to re-size that chatwindow, or that party window and so on...  I don't know much about programming, but I would guess that it is'n too hard to implement all those things.

Another question that I have is, why did they not open a new server that starts from ground zero ?  I don't know if I am the only one but if they did open a new server that would make me re-register and jump in on the fun.

This is not a rant, I would just like to see other people's opinion on the 2 things I mentionned above, they are the 2 things that keeps me away from the game. Not to mention the enormous timesink, but that's another story.

In regards to other servers.. they have already opened up other servers when existing servers were at their max. Why would they just spend money to open up a new server when there isn't enough people to play in them? They would just loose money. I personally enjoyed the fact that many of the servers were already in action when I joined. I joined on the first day of release in North America. Going through the first few months of a servers economy is terrible! But depending on when you joined FFXI you did have the option of relocating your character to one of the new servers. That was a few months ago. Just to crarify my long post.. image They DID open up at least 1 new server since release, I never paid full attention because my server was best of them all!!!image

As for the controlls on the chat window.. I'm not exactly sure what your problem there is. If you check the options there is controls for how large you want the chat window to be.. and if you want it to shrink or get larger automatically depending how much text is incoming. It generally handled itself very well on defaults so I never had any desire or need to change it.

Im guessing the custom interface "problem" is due to the fact that the game runs on PS2 aswell as PC. Which means the game would need to keep compatable between both platforms which might mean custom interfaces could be more complicated than you think.

Squares idea basically is to integrate all people onto the same server whatever your language is. Theres many mixed views on this. Imho they should have created new servers for EN  players as they are far more spread out in its current state. However I guess things wont be changing so you simply have to accept the way they did it.

btw they are offering free server moves at the moment but you dont get to select which server you go to...only thing which does mean youll go with your friends is if your in same LS.

I'm with you on the ground zero server,i would love to join a server like that. The server i am in is guruda ,wich is brutally overpopulated. There is so much lag at times i cant even use the delivery or auction house in jueno. The pings drop right off to zero, wich is complete packet loss or they jump up to 1200+ wich is total lag.

They have been asking for people to move to other servers from guruda, because there is too many people. They should just move all the people[friends sticking together]from under used servers, wich in turn would prolly leave 2 or 3 empty servers ,wich could be used as ground zero servers. This could be done easily whilst still allowing friends to stick together.
