Hi this is Warhawkz again. Darkfall Online is a game of pure skill, and is a "Sandbox" MMO. This means you are not forced down any one path, such as in other MMO's; but you make your own path. There are no class restrictions either, meaning if you are not restricted to being an archer, a mage, a swordsman, anything. You can combine any set of skills you please, which brings me to my next point. There are no ranks. Many cry about this feature because they say "Well what do I do if I can't stay up until 4 AM grinding?". Well since the Developers decided to use skill points instead, this means you can be slightly stronger than somebody who is new, but skill will be the ultimate factor. The fighting system will not be "click and attack" nor the "mash buttons" attacking, it will be First Person Combat. This means you must use tactics, and stealth to defeat the enemy. With stealth, there are no icons above people's heads that say their name, and there are also shadows. This means that one could hide, without being detected, unless you can see a glimmer from their sword or armor. This is why you would want to be stealthy in the shadows, not daylight. Another huge detail about Darkfall Online is that it will have Naval Combat. One can build a ship, sail it with some friends, and attack other ships with the use of cannons. Cannons can also fire onto land, so one could destroy a coastline player city with their ship. As I just mentioned, yes, there will be player cities. These can be made by guilds, however solo players can also build themselves houses. The map is a huge one, and it has no zones. Everything you see in the distance can be reached, because there is no skyboxed mountains, etc. In all it takes a little over 8 hours to get from one corner of the map to the opposite corner. 10,000 players are allowed on each server. Some may be asking aout crafting; well yes, crafting in this game will be huge as you can build ships, cities, houses, workshops, and virtually EVERY sword and armor piece in the game. I know I have missed some stuff, and if anyone has any questions, just ask here. Thanks guys, and I hope to see you all in beta!

Great way to put it War! Personally, I like all the things that you listed about Darkfall and have signed up for the beta testing myself. I love the skill part of the game and the challenge that that will present. I will add my two cents, which is not much, but hopefully will add something. There will be a variety of skills, some that will be race based and that no other races may learn. You will need to have some magical skills right along with your melee skills. Yes, of course, you can be purely melee, but it is said that the benefits of the magic skills may make that much difference. You may want to only PvE and that's fine, because you can be a crafter and stay in the city prefecting your craft, as well as mobs to fight in each region. I am a little scared of the first person combat, but not too scared! I also love the fact that you can craft an original set of armor and an original weapon! And, crafters are essential as your armor and weapon will need repairing! Woo Hoo! You can even hire NPC hirelings to heal you as you fight! Oh and each race has its own type of mount, except the Mahrin who can run as fast as the mount. You can steal peoples mounts and loot there bodies when you kill them!

looks good, Lets hope its a pay 2 play not a free 2 play because if its a free 2 play "you're building a house!" HAHA! $5- dollars per brick!
the devs have stated it will be Pay to play. we can probably expect the average monthly fee ~$15 US.
Im also curious why someone wouldent like Darkfall? If you manage to play WoW, then you must love Darkfall.....right?
For me, i agree with the OP. Thats why i will play DF.
But still, some already hate WAR. So why cant we have some people hating DF?
im massively looking forward to DFO, as an old ultima online player (i still play uog) it has everything i could ever want from an mmo, ive spent the last 3+ years of my life wasting time on WoW but now this is out! the free loot and open pvp is right on the money, and im looking forward to being able to mix professions instead of being a *insert one of 6 pre generated classes here*, some friends and i already have our hearts set on becoming a small group of raiders, if we can get our numbers up to about 30 or so then we will be more than happy!
its gonna be an awesome game, cant wait for it to come out
edit: i just wanted to add, as ive run into this discussion with quite a few people that ive talked to about it, if your scared about free loot, and/or the 1 char per server, then dont be, it encourages the player economy, crafters will allways be in demand, and it wont take much to get a basic set of armour+weapon, and then not much extra time to get all that in the bank so you have a couple of sets spare for a rainy day.
remember, its not gonna have loot like WoW, yes itll have *good* loot, or crafted items that are much better than the chainmail tunic you found on that gnoll bandit or whatever, but it wouldnt be like getting your black temple loot taken from u if you died in arathi basin, youll just go to the bank and pick up another set and make a mental note to go out into the mountains to find another magic sword like the one you just lost, no biggie.
Well I am also waiting for Aion the tower of eternity. A very casual non grind Korean Subscription fee game, Look it up it just looks amazing. I have been keeping an eye on it since 2007 and Still very excited about it, So another reason is I am waiting for Aion and I don't wanna get into anything else right now.
I dont think I would like this:
1. I'm a graphics person, I need better graphics. For a P2P title I expect more then what I can see in their trailer/screenshots.
2. This game has been in development for a long time. I wonder how responsive they are going to be with regard to updates, exploits and possible expansions. When the game is released of course.
There will be teamgrinding in DF, after all it's going to take a lot of hands to make all the requirements for all the gear and the eventual boats. That's not a bad thing mind you.
The only reason I would want to stay away from it is that the developers have be catering(PR wise) towards people who don't know this. There will be social attachments and priority, it doesn't make sense to have a safe banking system in the game so anyone that is antisocial lame won't be comfortable. If I was afraid of this type of stuff I would seriously just wait a month or three after release, but there's really no reason to(If I decide to play anyways Ryzom might keep me amused enough or I might make arcade games for the web).
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
I'm looking forward to Darkfall Online myself. Why? I have a few reasons.
1) The PvP System. There are NO safe zones, only areas where you might just feel protected by the guards. You kill a person? You take all their loot. You kill off a guild in its city? That city is now yours. There is a more real loss to dieing, even though gear might not mean much in this game. There's also the Naval battle aspect, but I actually expect it to be generic other then the crafting aprt of it.
2) Role-playing Idea. A few MMO's have RP servers and 'attempt' to police it. We all know how horrible that is, but the DFO staff have another approach. Let RPers find eachother in the game and do their own thing. They have a griefer? Hello~ Hit it with an axe. :P This also works the other way around, but what would Darkfall be if it was easy?!
3) Enemy AI. The fact that I can piss off an enemy and watch him run off to get his friends, travel, build a little camp... is amazing. I'm still waiting to see how far this will really go.
I have more but eh... let's not make this a novel right?
