Hi there,
I've had nothing to play for the past weeks, so i've planned to begin playing CoX again, but mainly villains.
My account is on EU server and level is about 24-29, so my question is,
How many people plays currently on EU, and if I would buy God VS Evil for US server, would I be able to play and have fun with players, and even be able to go on events with them(you know the drill), even if I'm online at EU time. Cause the population made me leave the game, kind of sad. Cause CoX is a good game.
Comments
This year subs are up due to the Issues they released. Freedom still has the largest population though on Infinity I rarely have trouble finding teams despite I work odd hours so don't play when the 9-5 guy does.
Depending on how long ago you played you may be in for a lot of changes. Welcome back!
If you search this forum (and the heroes one) for EU populations, you'll find that people seem to think they're low. But you can't tell from the complainers, sometimes. I have no way of knowing personally, but I also hear Defiant is more populated than Union.
I do know that the population on US servers has been pretty good this year (fading a bit from the last update perhaps, but still a very strong year), and we regularly have players from all over. If you choose to play here, first make sure you order the box correctly to make sure you have a US edition. I'm pretty sure they won't let you buy a US code online. (Again, search for previous comments on that.)
Second, you should grab a trial code if you're starting a new account. The "trial" time will just be a bonus to your free month, and hey why not. If you want a code you can PM me and I'll send you one. Or you can pick one up elsewhere on the site I believe.

Well I got a feeling that players are diffrent in the US server....
The population was pretty ok on the US, allthought the trial does give disadvantages. so I think I'm going to reactivate my EU account instead. hopefully there is new players in it from the new update
gah, I made a EU trial account to check the population in the EU Server, and it was still the same, question that is only holding me back form making a US account is, will I be able to do Endgame stuffs? won't my time get struck with the US players?
One think I found quite intresting is, how the US players are more "Aggresive". There is also a difference between EU and US. In the EU villains talk, in the US villains should not talk,(It gave me a consequense) basically.
I mean, just a simple so-so talk has to be so tense?
Is this what I should expect?
I play on EU Defiant, at around 6pm Uk time there is about 200+ people online (heroes), not gone into villains much but i do play it from time to time and notice more people in one region.
Problem is that, I'd rather play villains, and heroes always have a higher amount of player than villains (allthought I do not know why)
Since heroes is more based in like...healing or something. Allthought I can give the EU another go
I've never played on the EU servers, but my understanding is that the US/EU story and content is the same (CoX Asia might be different). So you'd have the same endgame content no matter which side of the Atlantic you're on.
What gave you a consequence - the game or the player you were trying to talk to? What was the consequence?
It's possible the server you were on is heavy RP, so you got somebody who was really in villain mode and didn't want to break it. Or maybe you just picked the wrong guy to talk to. I personally have a hard time playing a villain - it's just not in my nature to be mean. But I have a couple that I do play. I'm not really an RPer, but I like to give my characters backstories, and they're all more anti-heroes than bad guys. They just do what they have to do to surviv--good people in bad situations.

The less you expect, the more you'll be surprised. Hopefully, pleasantly so.
Well the consequence wasn't that big (I got kicked from a farm group) but still, They could had said like "Keep the chat low"
Also I don't see as playing villain makes me the bad guy*, I just like the power they got. e.g they are more of the damage types.
.(* also e.g I do not find the fun or the point in kill lower levels. If I'm grinding at a spot, then I'm not the one harrasing the other player that is also in the place. Allthought other tends to kill me even if I leave them alone. Most of the time, I'm not the ass, other are.)
I played on Freedom server on the US.
I citate a thing I said in the group "Oh well I guess I'm stuck with you Americans now". Mabye they took it offending?
I said it because I wasn't expecting to find another member of my country.

Well stalker gets the critical thingy, e.g
Also about the PvP I was thinking on rather other games. Allthought they are PvP oriented, but still.
Also if someone would say that to me, I would just reply "Well that's too bad, but you will have to endure and play with me=)"
Well everything is so offensive nowdays so i'll guess i'll shut my mouth on basically anything, but not everything.
(Nor is it unusual for us to find international players. If I'm on in the morning I generally run into a couple Australians playing on Infinity. Fun guys, and lots of banter / joking between us. "Stuck with you Americans" sounds like exactly the sort of thing they might say.
But anyway, you mentioned lots of players and "end game content." I take it you are thinking of "end game content" in terms of Raids and massive group activity. CoH doesn't work that way. There is only one encounter in the whole game (Hamidon) that requires more than a team of 8, and it is limited to 50. Everything else can be done on a team of 8 or less.
So don't feel like you need to seek out the biggest crowd just to be able to play. It really won't limit you.

I see.
I'll might play on the Infinity server if they are more "nice" there, allthought I've played heroes on the Freedom server, (since people said they talk too much) I diddn't notice they talked that much, almost the same amount villains talk in the EU.
I'll see how things will go, whether I'm going to play on the US or not play at all.
But you did somehow give me a "hope" allthought I cannot explain what the "hope" is.
I play on Infinity too, both my heroes and villains are there. Never have trouble finding groups even when I play at odd hours. TF/SF are usually easier to get on weekends or holidays but that's to be expected.
Come Issue 13 I'll be sorta offline as I start making missions. /cheer
I have been playing on EU servers for 3 years now. Union is definitly the most crowded. it's also the server with the most active PvP crowd. You also meet the oddest people on Union, on Defiant the crowd seems a little more mature (of course lots of mature and decent people om Union too, just chances on Union are higher you run into an idiot because there are just MORE people in general).
If you want to make sure you don't miss out in "endgame content" (the high level task forces, shipraids, events) you should join the global channel sal's badgehunters. Lot's of helpful people in there and things get organized for Union and Defiant (though it's a little Union orientated)
At the moment population is at a summer holiday/between issues low. Usually population will soar again with the Halloween and Winter Event and of course with the next issue.
There is quite a few large and active SGs on Union so you may wanna join one of those. Just ask for an active SG at the Black Market in Cap.
If you wanna come back to EU and need more help PM me.
Can you do a Rikti mothershihp raid with only 1 team?
And what was that buggy CoT raid that finally just took toatlly off line?
And some of the GMs?
-------------
The less you expect, the more you'll be surprised. Hopefully, pleasantly so.
Well you need to take down the pylons before you can get to the mothership. A single team can take down a pylon, but I honestly don't know how fast they respawn so not sure if 1 team would have time to take down all of them and hit the mothership. Usually, multiple teams coordinate and take down several pylons at once.
Buggy CoT raid? Do you mean the Cathedral of Pain Trial? As far as I know it's still offline but my SG is small and we aren't concerned about it either. Since only big SG's would care about getting an Item of Power since they'd have to defend it.
What about the GMs? I've rarely had to petition anything but the few times I did I got a timely ingame response that was quickly resolved.

Ah GM is "giant monster", now don't I just feel like da noob.
Anyhoo I've taken down giant monsters with a team of 4 before. I suppose it depends on what mob it is and what your team compliment is. Mine was Scrapper (me), two illusion Controllers and an Empathy defender.
I am planning to come back! Any tips?
What are your prior experiences like? Why did you leave? What are you hoping to get out of it this time around?

If you quit before Issue 9, you're gonna be in for a lot of changes with the Invention system. I'd strongly recommend you do the Invention Tutorial in cap au (red) or steel canyon (blue). It's available to any character 10+ and it's shown on the map.
Rikti Invasion event is sorta over, someone completing the TF can trigger it in a random zone. Also, they bring them back for a few days due to popular demand. Basically if you hear air raid sirens, the sky looks crazy and the war walls go down (blue) be prepared to be attacked by Rikti invaders. They use coding though that a minion will always con even to you regardles of what level you are or what zone you're in at the time.
