I find it entertaining that the Mythic apologists keep saying this to justify what's happening to WAR, but personally I find it disgusting. This same line is used to sell all sorts of useless garbage, with the intent of tricking people into paying for a product they don't need (assuming it even does what's advertised) and leaving them hoping for more (which will never come).
Has the MMO market really gotten so bad that PAYING for a CHANCE to enter beta is acceptable? Have we really become so inundated to the lying, thieving trash running these companies that we will take LITERALLY any crap they feed us? Without the bonuses that come with the pre-order, there is no reason to pre-order at all, short of being in a location where you know the game will be sold out. Adding the beta access was supposed to be an incentive to get MORE people to pre-order. Way to shoot yourselves in the foot.

I preordered and got my Headstart key as promised? makes me able to play from the 15th? and got key for my special items aswell, sure u just didnt preorder from a crappy place or or missread something?
I pre-ordered... got my beta... and head start... and my account is flagged for the pre order items...
Problem exists between chair and keyboard maybe?
I pre-ordered and my Head Start key goes in but my Open Beta key says " Key has already been used".
So, either Mythic screwed up on some beta keys or Gamestop employees are scummy thieves. My box was sealed btw.

If I was an MMO Developer, I would laugh and plan my business model around this.
The only thing they have to do is make sure they don't actually commit fraud.

well i pre ordered from amazon..got my keys and have been happy but regardless if I was to go and cancel my pre order right now I won't lose a dime...and my keys will still be good.
I dot know how they do it in the EU but in the US the key is EXTRA aka FREE its a FREE item. Meaning if it its broke then well alteast you didn't LOSE anything for it.
Some jack nards may of paid 1 dollar at Target but most people got it for no extra charge. If i was to order a copy the day of launch i'd pay the same price i did for the pre order and NOT get the keys so honestly...stop QQ whining / being retarded its not that hard to figure otu.
Its a BONUS item..aka NOT included IN the PRICE lol.

yup i agree.. i made a thread about gamestop trying to screw me out of my 2 copies of CE. He tried to convince me to come down and switch from CE to SE since there was some error and they wouldnt have my 2 copies. I had to go in with my receipts and talk with the manager and clear the whole thing up.

The issue here is are the Keys a sale item? Are they worth money? And what agreements (contracts) exist between developer / publisher / distributer / retailer?
If the Key is actually a retail item in it's own right (not just a free bonus) or part of a retail item (Pre-order pack) then if Gamestop Employees are taking keys or issuing keys separate from the pack they are guilty of theft.
No class action. Criminal action.
A large part of the problem here is that the distributers do not seem to be being clear with retailers - and they are not properly enforcing the rules when it comes to return of the product.

Against GameStop, not Mythic. GameStop is held by law accountable for their Employees, and by morals, I wont speak as to why this makes alot more sense than it should...
Just keep in mind, a certain amount of keys are given to a certain amount of companies. Those keys are inserted into a database by a certain amount of people. The system is coded to send out those keys, though never checks if they are used.
...Did you check the price of a WAR pre-order se/ce beta key on ebay 1-5 days before open beta released?

Note: PlayNC will refuse to allow you access to your account if you forget your password and can't provide a scanned image of the product key for the first product you purchased..... LOL
Instead of creating these strawmen agruement threads, post about the exact companies you dealt with for you pre-order. Most of the negative comments are all Gamestop related, clearly showing that the employees are "hooking" up friends with the keys, leaving the paying customers blowing in the breeze.
I paid 99c to Target for my pre-order, and got everything since the first Preview Weekend. Mythic is not responsible for shady game resellers. Just like if Best Buy tried to screw me on a big screen TV, I wouldn't hold Phillips to any blame.

My post has nothing to do with GOA. I was addressing the issue of Pre-Order keys being missing or 'consumed' in Pre-Orders sold by Gamestop. This has happened before on other titles and Gamestop has been named before in relation to this problem.

You cannot launch a class action against a company because its employees are thieves.
What you can do, is take your defective product back and get a refund. If the store will not issue the refund then take the issue higher - all the way up to the Senior Management and any local consumer bodies you government has. Maybe to your local small claims court to get your personal refund.
From there - it is a matter between Gamestop and the distributer as to whether Gamestop can return the product for a credit.
This is where the problem lies.
If Distributers what to stop this problem they should make the return policy "If the key is consumed - no credit"
That puts it squarely in Gamestop's hands.
What Gamestop then chooses to do is up to them.
They may decide to track down and prosecute employees they find are 'stealing' the keys.
They may simply write off the loss
Or, they may decide it's all too much trouble and stop stocking pre-order packs (it's their business they will lose).
All this of course depends on whether the Key is considered a retail item too.
If it's a 'free' bonus - or a promotional item - then there may be very little anyone can do except avoid shopping at Gamestop.

I didn't freakin know that:( I've pre-ordered so many games from them and never had a code hacked from my box before:(
I emailed all the info to Mythic. Maybe they can verify it was stolen from the box and issue me another code.
The thread was started not to whine about not getting into the beta. In fact, I got in just fine with my Target pre-order as you mentioned. The thread wasn't about WAR at all, in fact. Try reading it through again.
Instead of giving the codes to retailers and trusting them not to screw it up, they should have done what they did with Target and sell them complete box kits. Now, either the company runs out completely or they have them in stock and it's no problem. None of this "we'll sell you one but not really" crap. That's Mythic's fault for not thinking this through very well, imo.
I dunno which dev said that, but its a lie. The boxes say "Guaranteed access to Open Beta". At lease those I saw. (I didnt buy one myself.)

HAHA man you have NO CLUE as to what or why they do ANYTHING at Mythic. it just looks like, seems like, might be, could be, I am guessing, I really dont know because I am NO ONE!. LOL get over it and move on because they dont care. I have a CE and a plain preorder and have all my keys and got in just fine.
So in other words you have no clue whats going on or why and your just upset because you missed getting in. So dont buy the game and you have no problems. See easy..
