More about when it will release

Since alot of people right now are hoping for a November 15th release as am i, I would like to comment that the game is looking good right now as I can see from my friend playing and I think EQ 2 knows that they really have a lot of hype around meeting that deadline. I know people think the lag is really that bad and bugs are that bad but there really not. Lag is only bad when there stressing and so but the bugs really dont get in way of gameplay much. If they do a Novemeber 15th release they would at least from what I've seen have everyting up to lvl 20 perfect and just some minor bugs to hotfix up in the higher levels which would be patched soon after the release. Everquest 2 is very close to being done and If the devs know that the game has most of the bugs and lag worked out im sure it will be released the 15th. So all of you waiting be happy because I think your going to have EQ 2 very soon.

It would be great if they released earlier. I just hope the preorders get shipped out before the actuall release date so I can have it installed and ready to go. So I just jump on and update the second things go live.

Well from what I've heard about star wars galaxies, they released the game way to early and it was horrible. Hope they give themselves enough time to figure out everything instead of rushing release(possibly to compete with wow?). Really hope they make some larger changes as to people with not so top of the line computers too, so they can also enjoy eq2. I really dont have the cash to spend on a new computer so my options on what mmorpg to play will be somewhat limited.

I think lessing the graphic settings should do that. No one says you have to run the game at max setting or even in the middle. From what I remember from playing EQ1, when you installed the game and get into the options you see what is recommend to be one and to be based on what you computer settings are. Even then you could change them and lessen what you want or raise what you want. Sometimes things like shadows, spell effects, etc lessen the graphic problems. Also the ram helps a lot, you don't have to massively upgrade but an extra 128mb here or there couldn't hurt and you are looking around $20-40 in some places for it. Thing of it as an investment. Also the distance you few also helps, especially if you drop how far you see to around half of the max or even less then that at times. That really helped with Anarchy Online when I first started playing and in EQ whenever they released a new expansion or updated the graphics.

Yup, 3 weeks to hotfix minor bugs like crashing when you revive after dieing, or mobs that disapear but are still attacking you. Minor bugs like zones just going poof and crashing, or people just getting dropped to desktop. Bugs like quests to get keyed for certain zones not working. And That isn't even covering the zones that aren't entirely done yet, and so on.

And that's only Freeport. From the sounds of things Antonica, and Qeynos have it just as bad.

But they will release on the 15th, just to appease a handfull of people that can't keep their pants on. And even though they say they don't care how buggy it is, I bet they'll be the first ones to the forums screaming when they can't complette their citizenship quest, and are stuck at level 6. SWG indeed.

I agree with Coldmeat. I don't mind at all if the game comes out later. I want it to be the best game it can be at release - and I've got the time. I'm 23. I'm actually hoping it comes out after WoW. This way at release it will be a fully thought out game. I feel like they are setting the date at November 15th to compete with WoW. This bothers me a great deal.

I am in favor of EQII taking as long as it needs in order to develope into a game that makes people feel like they have really entered a game that is amazing. It is a hard task for any mmorpg to break new ground anymore, but I don't think that it's out of the question for WoW OR EQII.

I have a feeling that in the beggining many people will join WoW because at release it may be a better game. I believe that EQII is pressing their release date to compete with WoW. In the long run I also believe that if EQII waited until they thought they had a great product that people would flock to them - including people that play WoW.

I believe that in the long run EQII will be the best product, but I do fear that they will release it too early to compete with the other powerhouse WoW.

I agree with you on this. It would be better if things were smoothened out before release.

To correct some misconceptions from elsewhere btw:

    1. I do not like WoW very much and I do not do "WoW vs. EQ2" threads.

    2. I think EQ2 has alot of cool and great things in it, and is, no matter how you look at it, a good MMORPG.

    3. That said I also have said that all the good sides and things have been mentioned over and over again, therefor I usually (the same for any other MMORPG) concentrate on the negative or flaws, so people can look at it from both sides.

    4. I am still unable to find the listing of the rules around here, an admin has explained that they do not like NDA breaking/bending, so therefor I will refrain from doing so, despite the sadness that this game will be released on hype, more than released on its real strength and weaknesses.

But people just love to make assumptions about other posters so they can discredit them and their opinion/experiences of the game, sad really.

PS. This is a statement, not a debate.

Well there is a NDA in place and that makes information limited and speculative.

No offence to the original poster but nearly everything he said was wrong.Sadly can't give full reason for it .

Coldmeat i "think" got much more accurate information(but how would i know image)

I will just say this i really want a nov 15 release date for this game but i am quite willing to wait longer IF the game is not ready by then and i think everyone should too.

I do not know what hercules knows, or thinks he knows but... I see only accurate information from the original poster.

To bash him just to show your betastatus is a bit cheap.

Only game I wait for right now: Imperator.
    Go Mythic!

"This is not a game to be tossed aside lightly.
It should be thrown with great force"

Well, he was right about the lag part, while there is some, it's no worse than say exiting the space port in Coronet when it's busy in SWG. You'll stutter for a bit while your card catches up with all the things it has to render, then it's fine.

The rest he's a ways off base on.

If they release on 15th, oh well, it's their ball to drop, and it will cost them. Hopefully they've learned from the fiasco of SWG, they'll ignore the rabid fanbois, and hold off the extra month or two, and get everything locked down tight. It won't hurt their sales any to delay it a month or so, but releasing early will cost them down the road, same as it did with SWG. Except this time they're facing stiff competition from WoW, which looks to have a solid launch. There's also the looming spectre of Guild Wars hanging over everyones head. And if WoW or EQ2 can't live up to the hype to some extent, I can see GW stealing away a good many people from both games, unless they really screw the pooch on it. The no monthly payment, and very casual friendly gameplay will be a big draw. On the other hand, it will attract alot of the B.net kiddies, so maybe it's taking subs away from WoW/EQ2 isn't such a bad thing after all.

Well if you feel the information is correct then good for you.Like someone said "you only hear what you want to hear".Guess this applies to you .

As for showing my beta status i never stated about me been in beta as thats against  the NDA.

Those that have been on the site long enough to know me know what i am trying to make them read between the lines and honestly my post is really meant for them .

If you can read between the lines fine if not then "hear what you want to hear" no big difference to meimage

Coldmeat is willing to be more open and has made a very nice statement.

There is a lot of rabid fanbois with no idea whats going on at all but want to push and push then sapm the forums at launch and moan.

Has it happened before?SWG and AO are 2 classic examples.Hopefully developers have learnt to ignore this people.
