Ive played so many damn online games its retarded, thank god for darkfall coming out to be that game that i can finally drop everything and pickup a game that will actually be fun to play.

Amazing how you can already decide this from a 17 minute video and some screen shots without ever playing or talking to someone that has played the game.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike Loved: Star Wars Galaxies Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
I don't know about you, but I have thought the same way about pretty much all of the games that I have played at one time or another.
Same.
There is really only one thing in particular thats keeping me away from DF. Its another freaking fantasy MMO with orcs and dwarves and elves, even if they try to rename their elves. They're still elves. You're not fooling anyone.
I'll probably give it a try anyway, just to see if it can hook me, but chances are it won't, and those choppy animations aren't going to help it any.
I am currently playing War and enjoying it a lot, but WAr will be my last fantasy mmo..i need something different from the standard orcs, dwarves and elves. Warhammer 40k will be the mmo that i drop everything for..Darkfall pales in comparision.
I've been watching darkfall for a while (and who hasn't... it's been taking ages) - the game concepts sound great - the graphics not so good - but imo that doesn't matter, gameplay counts.
My only worry is the community - reading the darkfall forums, I am not looking forward to trying to enjoy any game they are in :-/
Why do people continually set themselves up for a fall? Hell, if DF comes anywhere close to fulfilling its promises I will be rejoicing with everyone else, but I think people need to start being a bit more cynical.
How many more MMO distasters is it going to take before people stop falling for hype and actually sit back and think 'yeah that looks good but i'll reserve judgement until its released.'
We all want change and innovation but the industry is in a state of flux at the moment with companies like Funcom licking their wounds and Mythic realising that maybe they bit off more than they could chew.
I honestly don't expect anything truly amazing and groundbreaking to come along for the next 3-5 years. I know that sucks, but thats life unfortunately and companies are out to make a fast buck, not your dream MMO.

To be honest...if DF releases with only 1/2 its feaures, or hell even 1/3...it will still be more exciting to those who are tired of the same EQ style gameplay being released over and over.
One thing you cant deny is that DF is extremely different from everything else out there, unless you want to believe its a scam i guess.
Some people can just go on a little more faith than others. I was a huge doomsayer for AoC because of all its shadiness that seemed to be missed by most on this forum who hated on me for bashing the game. I got bad vibes from it and I was right. I just dont get those vibes from DF.
Yes the development cycle has been long without the normal hype machine. But that is not a bad thing, its just different (common misconception). And if you have been following it for awhile, read the updates, you would understand a little more.
I was one of the people who was promising we would see a video and beta a couple of months ago when promised, and people were making the same arguments they are now about the status of the game. They said lol you wont see a beta and there wont be a video...well they were wrong about the video...and they were wrong about the game existing. Guess what they will be wrong about next...

Agree. When other themepark MMORPG games becomes totally boring cause of there's lacking endgame, Darkfall will prosper.
Darkfall endgame will prosper in the name of player freedom and player imagination. Darkfall will be what you as a player want it to be.
I don't know about you, but I have thought the same way about pretty much all of the games that I have played at one time or another.
Agreed. Until Darkfall is released, it is not better or worse than any game out there.
True. Noone can say it will be this or that before we tried it out.
We that enjoy sandbox games know that the game on a good deliverance will be a game we will love to play. For a long, long time.
I dont count themepark games as playable games. They is just to crappy for even have a tryout on. I had the chance to enter Warhammer beta but i passed cause its a worthless WoW copy.
People with some taste dont play crap themepark games anymore. That time is long gone.
So conclusion - Darkfall is better then all other games even before release cause the other ones isnt even an option.

I played ultima online for 7+ years and never looked forward to graffic upgrades. I like gameplay, While the actual gameplay in df is still unknown for the most part. the promised features are enough for me to give it a honest try. I am a little be concerned about fps style pvp but at the same time I am looking forward to a new way to play a mmorpg. I am really tired of level grinding in most cookie cutter korean rip-offs and wow has never appealed to me. I love a game world where players decide it's fate. If darkfall succeeds it won't be cause of a massive advertising campain or glitter filled gay graffics. It will be because most players like myself are tired of games getting "dumbed" down so any 5 year old with basic reading skills can play and do well.
I am sick of games with no risk involved, and not sure how uo is still active except that that game still offers things no game to date provides. What darkfall looks like to me is the original idea of UO with a newer style engine and fps combat and shadowbane like sieges.

Spoonfeeding time is finally over, Sandbox FTW

Have a nice one
I'm kind of iffy about Darkfall. I've seen developers promise less and not put out.
I will keep an eye on it. I won't get hyped up over it though.
Groovy.
