I plan on playing a dwarf, but not a engineer! Unfortunatly as of right now engineers are probably the least popular class in the game, currently they are rather underpowered, or so I've read. I played one, but only for a few levels, it just wasn't for me. On the flip side the class seems like it has some really cool potential and the idea behind it seems really cool. I'm guessing this class will get some more love soon and be better.
I am a level 8 Dwarf Engineer, and I known that isn't high at all, but I have to say it is a fun class, but very unpowered compared to most other classes. I seem to die much in RvR and I also seem to be outdamaged by tanks when I group.
Still though, it is a fun class, but I hope they make it up to par to other classes, though I am not sure if I am getting this game or not. If I did, I would play an Engineer, unless they didn't fix it, of course.
I think the popularity really depends on server. On the first server I did, they were all over the place, then I tried a more populated server and there were more Ironbreakers than Engineers.
Definitely being a Dwarf. Most likely an Ironbreaker. I think I'd rather be up close and personal, as opposed to back shooting, and leaving a turret around.
See the problem is most engineer do not play properly. A good engineer is successfully at the role of the class, area denial.
Even the damage of the well played engie(granted tier 1) can rival that of Brightwizards in the 20k range. I've been watching and noticing well played engineers don't try to play the "ranged" dps role, but get in close and use the roots and grenades to harass the enemy approaching on their denial territory. The weakness is in an open field, the denial territory becomes so large it's ineffective to try to force a choke point. Thus being less of a threat with the AE and turrets.
I've been able to break 30k in the tier 1 bracket at level 9 with a marauder, but that includes some very dedicated healers and liberal use of the cone PB AE.
Dwarf wise Engineer is the most popular dwarven class.
No way...I've pretty much played only dwarf classes and I think IB is far more common then engineer, people try engineer but I rarely see any past t1 compared to IB. More people might try out engineer, but I think a very small percentag of these play past lvl 5
ill be playing a dwarf ironbreaker male or a female rune priest. im currently very split but ill pick one soon. Either way ill def be playing an Order toon.
I find it a rather amusing class.. and don't really care about being "under powered" if that's the perception.
This is Mythic.. so probably best to play an Under powered class early and be made OP'd later.. actually I'd like to skip the boost/nerf roller coaster but.. anyway.
I'd play a White Lion but the males are even uglier than I am irl... so that's hard to take.
Altho I could play an IB and name myself.... Tankard
i agree on the male Elf... Why do they all have Girl like Hair styles ? Cant they get a Short hair cut? or more Manly looking hair style ? this is one reson i wont be making an Elf It might sound stupid, its just that i cant deal with that Poofy looking hair thats moving about.
If you can find a High Elf in Warhammer Fantasy with short hair, let me know. As far as I know every unit either has a helmet on (IE: Cannot see their hair) or has long blonde hair.

I intend to play a Dwarf Engineer at launch. So far, I have played all 3 of the Dwarf classes, Ironbreaker, Rune Priest, and of course Engineer.
The Ironbreaker seemed a little boring to me...perhaps a little too straightforward tank. I thought the Black Orc was WAY more fun to play.
The runepriest seemed pretty straightforward as far as healers go, but their animations seems nice to look at.
Playing the engineer has been a lot of fun, and as a previous poster said, you really can do a lot of damage if you play the character correctly. Besides, don't roll or not roll a character just because some people says its powerful or not. Those things will change every patch. Roll the character because its FUN. And I assure you, Engineer is FUN.
I am currently a lvl 14 engineer. They'r very fun to play. Very variating.
They play like a ranged DPS class. They can do fair close-up damage and long range damage. Can spec into AOE damage (which I'm doin).
You put up different types of turrets at locations to aid you, which is fun aswell.
Overall a very though and different class to play.

I am currently playing a Witch Hunter, just so i can understand the main storyline of the Empire before playing a Dwarf (because they are the Dwarfs closest ally, read the stuff about Sigmar). I don't like experiencing the same story twice either, so I am saving the Dwarf area for launch/headstart.

This is Warhammer, Elves have long hair. If there were short hair in WAR there would be dozens of Cloud wannabe Swordmasters running about acting 1337, and there are already enough as is.
Elven hair gives off an aura of beauty, brilliance, and shows age (intelligence) as well as thier superiority over the other "lesser" races (who have short hair).
The Dwarf with the longest beard is the wisest and most likely in charge.
The biggest Orc is da boss who leads the WAAAGGH!
The cruelest and darkest Dark Elf is the who heads the blood-sport.
The one changed the most by the Chaos Gods, is the one who leads the warhost.
You get the point, every race has its own unique cosmetic feature that needs to be universally exibited.

Engineer is a hoot in PvE. They can also do good damage in RvR, unless they get overrun by a zerg charge or flank attack. For a class that is supposed to do area denial, they ought to be able to make a stand a little better IMHO... then their DPS would not be a problem. The only salvation is that you often get ignored by melee players looking for healers or mages... but not always.

I'm planning on rolling an engineer.
It's a proven historical fact that beer saved humankind.
Ya , definitely a dwarf engineer here. I'm really enjoying the turrets. A lil underpowered but manageable.

They'd have to pay me to play a Dwarf.
I love hearing the Engineers rifles and turrets go off in RVR though.
Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

Dwarf Ironbreaker reporting for duty.

Engineers are also getting a work over, so I dont think they will be subpar for long.
All in all a great class.
