My suggestions for balancing the Servers

These are my suggestions for vetting here on your forums, maybe they will some how germinate into valid suggestions that make their way to the Warhammer design team.

Problem: Destruction has far more appeal than Order. While there will be some players who LOVE order, I think 70% of your player base are going to LOVE destruction classes.

Solution:  Make Order appeal to 20% more people, so that the split is 50/50 or thereabouts to make a far more interesting game.

Here are some options on balancing the servers:

1) Don't balance.

Instead, forget "Servers". Just let players pick a type of server they want and they can create up to 18 characters per account.

Use a concept from Guild Wars and City of Heroes in that the player can pick a certain "instance number" if they want to group with freinds, otherwise they are just added to an instance (then make every zone an instance).

Make a much larger queue for battlegrounds that takes into account everyone from that type of server. So if you choose a core server, you will be facing the same levels of characters who are also on core server, but who would have possibly been on other "servers".

2) Make "Order" more interesting to play.

Easier said than done, right?

Have to add more classes?

Well, of course I want a lumbering Mercenary from Norsca that wasn't enticed by Chaos, and sure a Templar Knight of Sigmar seemed like a no-brainer. Judicial Champion, Elven Minstrel, Dwarven Giant-Slayer all seem to me like my faves from Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

However, let's say you feel you don't want to just make some cool classes, how about:

Consider the name "Destruction", you want player house Destruction? Sorry, no can do. Destruction isn't about Construction. So Order will be getting player housing and guild banks (first).

To me, thats a fair incentive to play Order. If I am the type who concerns myself with cooperative gameplay, than having an Elven Great Tree, a Tower, etc is much better. Order guilds can build player housing.

Once the novelty of player housing wears off, work in some for Destruction. Except of course make it where you don't "Build", but challenge OTHER destruction guilds for a limited number of evil Castles and Towers.

Say once a month, A particular Castle you could "Bid" on with gold, or another one goes to the guild with the highest of a certain statistic, and another goes to the "largest active guild".

3) Destruction only battles

A battlefield where Dark Elves put Goblins in their place?

Chaos hordes coming down to encroach upon Goblin lands to subjugate them?

So many reasons for the Destruction hordes to fight amongst themselves that you could have more destruction players on the servers than you do Order, and Destruction players can keep busy fighting less lucrative but still valid PVP battles of internal strife and conflict.

Give Order a few of these just in case they care to do it as well. A Time portal to back when Dwarves and Elves were at War.

4) Keep doing things as the way you are

Just have people queue up for long periods of time in Destruction and they will begrudgingly play Order even though they don't want too just to keep at it.

I stopped reading here...abolutely dreadful idea. Total immersion killer. Instancing the world = Bad.

Ok, in my opinion, this post has no meaning. Battlegrounds = suck, Instances = suck.  The queue is for a scenario for open battles between all classes and helps to introduces RvR, which is way different then PvP.

Guilds already have a place and I think there is already a system in place to show whos the best guild.

There will be more classes as the game grows, cause with to many classses = un even balance on each side. Plus bad marketing, you want more people to join, then bring out a expansion with a new class and new city.

Plus, balancing the sides, now that I think about it, dont, lets add some challenge, some excitement. Lets have a over balanced side, so I can come in and show have more targets to rape.

Game isnt released and everyone is thinking this is how its going to be, wait 6 days, then wait for first major patch, then post again.

The world is INSTANCED in battlegrounds anyway!

Also on each server,Each copy of the world is an instance.

If there are 100,000 players in total and each server has 10,000 on each "instance"

whats the difference than if you just have 100,000 players who can all talk to each other and interact with each other instead of meeting one day and saying "Oh what server you play on? oh all my guys are on this other server..well if we want to play together, maybe we'll make up some guys on a different server"

Well you don't ned to worry really, Mythic will address things if needed. Surprisingly they're quite capable of sorting out population imbalances themselves, ie. DAoC

yeah, they just waited til their subscriber base dwindled then combined servers. yay.

That only took what, six years?

I'd really rather they fix it sooner.

There is already a population cap on each server.  Won't they just fill up with subscribers then overflow to the next?  I should think that system will work as a natural balance for Order vs Destruction.  Also, don't forget there will be a greater number of people playing after OB and greater still a week after release etc etc.  So again with increasing frequency of players on and off servers, many people playing both sides with alts, I think the differences will be lost.  No undue cause for concern I'm sure Mythic have already tossed this idea around many times over.

They don't overflow to the next.

One day I picked a "Low Pop" server in the beta. Made 9 Destruction characters to try them all.

The next day it was a "High Pop" and I was sitting in queue.

I instantly rolled a new Destruction on another server, vowing not to put all my characters on one server thus removing any "Fun" and "Immersion" as I tried to figure out how to play the character I want, when I want to play as opposed to when they will let me have access to it.

I would never ever play destruction, because theres not 1 single class on destruction side that appels to me.. and im sure theres more people like me.. and than im also sure that many many many of the open beta players play destruction in beta, because they gonna play order at release..

so what the balance going to be, only time will tell

Ok, whoever voted for McCain is stupid (lol j/k...or not) but i think the best option is to try to get cooler classes into order and to balance things better with the empire/chaos and HE/DE fronts because as it stands right now its a big disadvantage for the empire when the chaos side has a whole bunch of chosen on their side of things with nothing on their way but two squishies and the WP

    Well..

Not exactly.  If I leave the Scenario, I CAN run into a guy and group with him outside of the Scenario.  I don't have to a /tell (name) what instance are you in?  Or worse yet.. not be able to /tell to figure out the server.

The instancing of every area was the reason I stopped playing AoC.

I ido agree that the order side needs some more  "cool" classes. I don't like Elves (dark or high), I don't like Dwarves.. so that really just leaves humans, Greenskins and Chaos.  Well, Humans don't have a tank (although I DID like playing the WP, BW, and witch hunter)  so, that leaves greenskins and chaos, both of which have a tank, pure healer, healer hybrid, DPS (both ranged and in yo face).. so.. Yeah.  Empire is really only missing a tank.  If they had some sort of a tank, I'd be more inclined to play them.

Also wanted to point a lot of the "alliance" were night elf rogues.  Destruction has a "dark elf"

The high elves look like sissies..
