well its new, will it be perfect on launch no, (was wow) no. will it have a long way to go to catch up with wow, yes... wow is polished to a good degree, but then wow is 4 years old. I would like to give the new guys on the block a chance, so do not compare war with wow as they stand now.
I am board with wow, why? lich king is more of the same and the game will be dumbed down even further, there is no diversity to class anymore, no reason to be horde or alliance. With them now doing pve to pvp, it is only matter of time before you can do horde to alliance swaps. The beta treatment of the Eu and in general compared to that of the USA says a lot to.
The biggest and by far the best reason, wow is about one thing... self. The community of wow has no soul, no friendly being, and no reason to help others. I am hoping that warhammer will be about the faction you join, and striving together to build a community that will want to do battle and come out victorious over the other. Will it work over the coming weeks, doubt it. There will be problems, but warhammer has the potential to make you care about the place you play in. as for wow. It has given me some great times, but a company who has the resources to make 10 ex-pacs recycling old content and old monsters, just does not deserve my money.
I wish both games all the best for the future, but I am hoping that warhammer, with all its problems now, will give me more of a reason to play and protect my city, with a feeling of worth, in the future.

Well i disagree wth most of what you say, but thats your opinion. Im in wrath beta and yes its more of the same but its so much better and we get loads of new stuff.
I have bought WAR although the CB did not impress but Im willing to give it a try ( out of beta ) and be somthing to play till Wrath hits. i think what will make or break my WAR time is the guild I get into.. as is the case in WoW too and most other MMOs.. in short the people you choose to surround yourself with.
I agree with coffee, not so much you. I will also say it will will really rely on guilds that players get into to make this game more then what it is. The chat is just dead, hopefully it's more active in retail.
Warhammer was not nearly perfect in open beta but they made alot of good fixes so they did do better then wow did in open beta. However, I do think they saw how Blizzard handled their beta in 04 and had time to plan out their beta. Warhammer; They where prepared and I can hand them that. I'm hoping alot comes of warhammer because I really want to enjoy it. I haven't played World Of Warcraft since 6 months after closed beta. I resubscribed today. Odd right? Well I also have warhammer pre-ordered so I'm looking forward to playing on Tuesday.
I am currently playing Lineage 2, Wow (now!), and Warhammer. Liking all 3 but there was something about WAR I didn't care for. Wow, I hate it's so gear based. Warhammer, I hate that the community doesn't "communicate" and the chat system sucks, and Lineage 2 I hate that the community has died and the game has always been infested with bots. Something to hate in every game you play. Non the less, looking forward to retail on Warhammer. Will I play after 1 month? Well in beta they made alot of nice fixes, so we'll see. There's still some things I don't like about Warhammer but of course am willing to give it a try. It may become a second game and not a main game to me down the line due to the repeatable ways of the game.
WotLK is released, Blizz opens a new server or two, I'm headed back to WoW.
As will many of you.
How is it better exactly??? The same thing to me, same models, same game play, same grind, same art and as for the sense of game community, wow does not have one. Yes you can be in a guild but even most guilds are about self. There is nothing to do at end game other than get that shiny new epic that comes down to self worth. Wow has become a victim of its own success and the content put into it over the last 4 years does not match the money that they rake it by a long way. 4 years of catering to the top 5% of players has sucked the life out of it. I for one will not give them anymore money to throw away.
Headed back to wow? so you're not playing now?
as for me, chucked my disks, deleted my characters, cancelled, never going back, not giving them another penny.
I've been waiting on a new server. I will DEF. be playing wow in November (I think) when wow releases wotk. Looks too good to pass up. New class, higher levels, looks fun. Simple as that. I'm sure if players from wow bought warhammer they'll play warhammer until wow releases wotk, then go back to wow. I think that's what quite a few of players from wow plan on doing.
Shut up and go play Ryzom until Darkfall comes out!
Unless of course you are a gibbering 12 year old juvenile delinquent , in that case play WoW or WAR and stay away from my more mature games............

When I was playing wow players where ALWAYS talking in the chat, always. I always saw communicating. When players went into instances, it's all about communication. You saying there isn't a community is beyond reason. I do agree with one thing, wow has become too gear based. Everything is about getting gear which can take over your life. Instances are way too long.
Not a chance, im playing WAR for the same exact reason the OP made this topic..
WOTLK is the same thing thats been going on since the months before BC....Grind Grind Grind..

You mean, instance instance instance, right? o.0 lol. If you want a real grind game, go play Lineage 2. Which btw, I love L2. Btw to that other poster, ryzom suxors.
Wow chat consists of people insulting each other most of the time. And I am not talking about a few friends who run a guild, I am talking about server pride, faction pride, there is none, the community if about getting better gear than the other guy so you can hang out in shatt and look cool. Few people rarely help out others.

I can agree with that. Problem is the wow players that are like that mostly consist of 10-15 year old. Surprisingly, when I was playing the RP realm in 06 I was getting lots of help from players. Players on RP realms seem to be very nice. Why? You can imagine. I played on an RP realm because it was quite and players where friendly. I've always been a pvp junkie to be honest with you so it made no sense to go rp but it was a nice change. Did I play the RP role? no ....lol so I was an injustice to some extent to the server. But, whatever. You're right though wow is full of people who are just assholes to be quite honest with you. At least for the most part. People don't care about others and all they care about is being better. Back in beta, it wasn't like this. I really think it depends which server you are on to be honest.
Warhammer, I just see no community, atleast in beta, on Warhammer. You're talking about the public on Wow, well the public on warhammer won't even help you. I asked infront of 20 people being in the starting area where you go to get into rvr...of course being new no one answered. Then I said what's up everyone? etc... no one talked...it was WEIRD. You can say people where leveling, they didn't want to bother. Sure, and I'm sure retail will prove if there is a public community on Warhammer or not. Open beta, didn't see one. If this game is a community where you must be in a guild and that's the community guilds, then I don't know if I want to bother. I mean it's kind of a nice concept but will just get boring later on, atleast to me. I'll play and hopefully really get into it and get in a good guild. I just think there are some flaws in the game that need to be tweaked at the moment. The chat system being one of course. I don't think it stands out enough. It's not user friendly.
I'm not sure what some of you are talking about when you say WAR has no communication. When I played the OB there was a lot of communication within the scenarios and people helping others with the quests.
I'm starting to avoid most topics like this because I feel WAR is more enjoyable then WoW and if you even try to discuss something about WAR you'll get something like "well WoW has...". I say just ignore people who talk down on both games.. the more people that stay playing WoW the better.. the WoW community is not exactly a favorite one.
You cannot judge a community on a beta, as there is no community... communities are built over the years, wow has had 4 to do it and it sucks, why because the game is geard towards ones self.

The community was there in open beta. The community I witnessed in open beta and out of open beta on Warsong was amazing on wow. PVPing and fun times. Communicating to group and pvp near Tauren Mill. Good times. I just hope Warhammer continues and gets better and grows. So far Mythic seems to be doing a good job.
LOTRO has an excellent community. I think because the pace is so slow it keeps the kiddies out.
If WAR is fun, it will be packed with youngsters.
In warhammer I will feel like im contributing to the bigger side of the things that being the turn of battle for my side, I love the RVR and as far as im concerened the pve is just as good as any other game, along with the public quests etc. World of Warcraft gets stale and boring after you have umpteen lvl 70 charecters, and also lvling in that game is too fast and too easy. I read on msg boards were a guy did raids for 10 hours and didnt get one piece of gear for his char. 10 hours wasted. On Warhammer right off the bat you choose how to lvl your char. thru rvr or pve. I get so tired of hearing about wow this and wow that.... theres alot better games out there and i believe this is one of them.
Um... what problems? The only problem I see is with the people who need to get their twitchy fast combat fix in. Just because you can't one shot kill people doesn't make it a "problem." The fights are actually INTENDED to last longer to make it more fun. This is not WoW 2.
As for people's problems with the graphics, it's BETTER than WoW's but worse than AoC. However, the gameplay is MILES apart better than AoC and a good deal better than WoW (more rvr, less pve/gear whoring) . Therefore, it's a superior game to them both as far as I'm concerned.
