Has anyone else received a key to WotLK beta after cancelling their account? I know of 4 people that cancelled and put "leaving for WAR beta" as a reason and all of them, including myself, have received a WotLK beta key.
Yes, I know it is a far stretch but just wanted to see if they just released a lot of new keys or if there was a certain set of player (or ex-players) that received keys.

I got myn this morning after having my account cancelled for a month or two.
Dont think i put about WOTLK beta though. They wouldnt sift through all of them and handpick invitations to ones who put that, just isnt happening lol.
They obviously have just done another batch of invites these past few days.
they released a bunch of new keys on wednesday.
dont know if they are picking people due to their leaving reason but as you dont need an active sub to play beta just think of as a freebee .
I recieved a beta key the day after my account expired.
I got my beta key after I cancelled my subscription with the reason "going to play Warhammer", like months ago. I have received WotLK beta but I will be playing War

Ted Treffon: I don't represent Hardbodies.
Osbourne Cox: I know very well what you represent. You represent the idiocy of today.
Ted Treffon: No, I don't represent that either.
Osbourne Cox: You are part of a league of morons. Oh, yes. You see you're one of the morons I've been fighting my whole life. But guess what. Today, I win.
My account has been inactive since June, no beta invite yet. Yet alot of the people i still talk to who still play say they've even gotten 2 beta keys even though they only have one account. >_>
well if yall got a beta key and your account has been canceled why dont you post the beta key so someone else can use it?
Same thing for me.
Canceled in July on all 6 accounts (I boxed)
I got 4 out of 6 invites last week
Got another yesterday lol
In the note said by them only accounts who expired after 15 july are eglible. Had my account cancelled in august for a holiday and also got invited to the beta.
I cancelled Wednesday and selected that I was leaving for WAR. I got a beta invite 8 hours later. Could just be a coincidence, but Blizzard has making a lot of moves over the last couple of months to try and keep people from leaving or get people to buy (or come back to) WoW instead of heading to WAR.
I wouldn't be surprised if this most recent round of beta invites pulled more accounts from the people who had cancelled and selected 'WAR' as the reason - Blizzard has been making lots of moves lately, both small and large, to try and blunt any impact WAR might have on WoW subscription numbers.
Geeze, I've been starving for a Lich King beta key for months now. Upset that I haven't gotten one yet after all my friends have. Kind of upsetting when they tell me how cool it is.
Regardless, I'm surprised so many people had gone and gotten keys after their account was canceled. I guess Blizzard didn't moderate it as well as they could have.
So, my question is: Since so many of you got your key after canceling, would it be possible for someone to send me a beta key? I'd much appreciate it, as I just want to explore Northrend with all my friends before it comes out. Live WoW has become so boring that they've all gone. If not, that's totally understandable. After all, it's your beta key! But, if someone would happen to do so, I'd be so immensely ecstatic, I couldn't even put it into words!
Thanks for taking the time to read my reply.
I can actually see my breath tonight, but that doesn't mean I'm breathing.
Aww lucky guys!
I cancelled mine back in July of this year and didn't get an invite. Poop!
I was trying to get back on WoW with a scroll of resurrection but it didn't work cuz it has been inactive past 90 days. Fuck. lol
... and Im broke. Isn't that great?
How's the beta?
Well you could try stoping your auto payments if you do that.. when you do that they ask why. just pop in the magic "WAR" word and see if you get an invite. You wont lose any game time or your account.. if that does not work then a day or two before your time runs out just put your payment method back on the account.
Heh, just figured with the mass amount of people who got beta keys and have no intention of playing it, if I could just take one off their hands. I'd only wish Blizzard would take into account more than just a 'random' drawing. Had my account active since about 2 weeks after release and do a ton of feedback on PTR's, past Beta tests, etc. But, I guess that's 'random' for you.

my live subscription ended 6months ago
i been in beta the last couple months
Don't think we'll be seeing any wotlk beta key giveaway here, seeing as they go for 50-100 dollars on ebay...
No one has answered my question: How's the beta? Is the new content similiar yet so awesome?
From what my friends have told me, what I've seen in videos, and the patch notes I've read, it's amazing.
The most I could try out was the new Public Test Realm for Patch 3.0.2, and that itself was a blast. The new talents implemented for every class made the game feel so much better. I mean, tanking is actually fun! Not to mention the graphics update they put in that made better use of detailed shadows.
As far as Beta goes, it's supposed to be massive. If you want to get an idea on the zones, check out "Wrath of the Lich King - WTF!?" on Youtube. It's basically one player that went around and explored all the new content for everyone to see. The new areas are simply breath-taking graphically. As far as similarity in the content goes, it all looks close enough. The only main difference is the new type of loot and gear, along with the Death Knight hero class. However, they made it far better for casual players with the new 10 and 25-man difficulties for every raid instance. There's supposed to be heroic 25-mans for those players that still need their hardcore fix.
I get all my beta information from http://www.mmo-champion.com, if you'd like to read up on it, or see some of the new zones and items.

As a beta tester Wrath is so much better then TBC... TBC was a fine expansion but Wrath is so much better. Only 2 months to release.
The BEST site for wrath beta info and live video streams is http://www.wotlkwiki.info/index.php/Main_Page they get about 10 million hits a month.. crazy

Wow, thanks! That totally made me itch wanting to play Wow again. I didn't get the chance to try beta but hopefully in Nov on release, I will. I have (2) 70's to use for it.. Gosh, I'm looking forward to it already lol.

This is the exact reason I came here when I saw the thread - suspense. I spend too much time hearing about, seeing, and researching stuff from Beta that it has me so intrigued and the anticipation is killing me. If I even try so much as to avoid any talk fo the Beta, it's brought upon me from friends and the like. It's sort of demoralizing though, as I'm getting sick of refreshing my e-mail only to be disappointed by Blizzard.
Eh, at least people are sharing the information with those of us not so fortunate to get in.

lol yeah, exactly.. I dont know how many times Ive refreshed my email over the past months in hoping Blizzard would include me.. [le sigh] .. well, I dont mind paying for it! Bah, I wanna play the game.. but unfortunately my account is frozen. The scroll of resurrection wouldn't work. It's been past 90 days. [shake fist] Im bored. lol
The Opt-In is a joke. I've been playing since the beginning and I still haven't gotten a key.
