Rome wasnt built in a day - but this AoC Tier3 city was!

I have been playing MMO’s since UO and I have never seen a bigger mess. To a gamer it feels great to have the distinction of your guild as having accomplishments of “World First” or “Server First”. In the game AoC making a guild city is an accomplishment, it takes the gathering skills of the whole guild to make a guild city, a tier 1 city in AoC takes a lot of resources, a tier 2 city takes a bit more resources and a tier 3 city is the ultimate in the game and takes an almost ungodly amount of resources and time. A tier 3 city unlocks crafters abilities to make end game armor and weapons plus a whole lot more- rewards for all the hard work that your guild has put into the game.

My former guild Ascendant on Dagoth server has been working toward their tier 3 City since the day the game came out (May 17th) it has been a huge project gathering resources as well as dues the members have paid toward our guild city. As of today Ascendant is only three buildings away from the coveted distinction of being “World First Tier 3 City”. ... Or not!

Here is where it gets messy:

Guild ARCH makes a guild city up to ONE tier 3 building (the keep).

Guild Leader of ARCH decides to leave, someone left as “acting Guild Leader”.

“Acting Guild Leader” trying to help a dying guild decides he needs help, promotes “helper”.

“Helper” disbands ARCH guild, which in turn nukes guild city.

Somehow thru Game Master petitions ARCH guild now has a complete tier 3 city including the walls! This gives their almost dead guild the accomplishment of having the “World First Tier 3 City” all without any of the hard work and time it takes to build one.

This whole mess makes it appear that Funcom’s GM’s use favoritism to solve gaming issues. Doesn’t Funcom have any supervision of their GM’s to assure its players that this sort of fiasco doesn’t happen? I know other games do. This is the sort of thing that drives players away - with the launch of WAR next week and the WoW’s upcoming WoTLK this is probably not the best of times to be having players question the integrity of Funcom and their GM’s use of power.

Funcom needs to launch a complete investigation into this whole matter and undo this mess, Funcom should look into giving ARCH guild its guild city, up to their tier 3 keep – however they should have to work for the rest of it the way other guilds are working in the whole AoC world. What a slap in the face to the Dagoth Server as well as the AoC world, what a slap in the face to Ascendant guild which has been working honestly toward the ‘World First Tier 3 Guild City”.

While I can sympathize with the frustration you may feel at this 'unfair' maneuver by funcom, it sounds like you've been playing this game too much. Who in two years will care about who had the first T3 city? Also it's Funcom, what did you honestly expect?

Richard Nixon was president over 40 years ago. The corruption of his presidency is still widely talked about and still affects our country's political landscape.

There are those who see something as wrong, and then stand against it. Then you have the people who rather just say "it won't matter in a few years" and rather just let it slide. Where would our country be if we just kept "letting things slide"? Imagine if we kept "letting things slide" and kept allowing China to send their lead infested toys for our kids to play with, or their poison laced pet-food for our pets to eat. Imagine if rather than trying to enforce immigration laws, we just "let it slide" and opened up the borders - chaos.

Point is - yes, it's a game. It's also a product that we pay for and want to be able to enjoy. It's a product that we WANT to see succeed. We're simply appealing to the "powers that be" to show that they have some integrity.

No offense but 2 threads on this subject have already been locked.  But as stated above..who cares.  This game wont be around in another 6 months anyway so it doesnt really matter.  Just join the other 95% of the AoC customers and hit the cancel button and try something else.

Does it really matter who has a Tier 3 city in a game thats almost dead?

My guild had a tier 1 city in June half of us quit. The rest joined another guild who and they finished their tier 2 city and started working on Tier 3. Over the last month all the rest of our guild and the new guild quit. So does it really matter?

As many people as have left soon each player will be able to aquire his own tier 3 city from people quitting. Just ask or put up a post  to inherit a city from guilds quitting if it bothers you that much.

    Firsts are always remembered.

Go into EVE and ask about some firsts.  First T2 BPO, first capital ship built/lost, first titan...etc, you will get answers.

Then again, when everyone plays on the same server being 'first' actually means something.

My guild (Prophecy) built the 1st t3 city on Dagon. Almost the whole guild disappeared since then - including me - and the ruins of our city may be populated by crows and wolves.

Not to derail this thread, but that is what the US does regarding the southern invasion.

"Firsts" are remembered? By whom? I think you have the "first" thing blown up. Who gives a damn about being the first to do anything in a virtual world? I can't think of any name of a guild or otherwise that was the first to do anything in the plethera of MMOs I have played.

I think you may be too tied up in a virtual game world if you think you get respect by being the first to build whatever in an imaginary world.

There is a simple fix for this issue.... Quit playing AOC... the game is on its way to being the fastest MMO death in the history of MMO's.  I cant say that any advice other than 'UNINSTALL' is good or sound advice.

I mean honestly this company has just taken every opportunity to prove that the lights on the server are on but NOBODYS home.

It is being looked into, but at the rate that funcom does anything it will be a month or two. The community managers and customer service should be replaced.
