Surely you didn't buy the CE JUST for the headstart?
Is there any other reason to buy a collectors edition? I mean really, what exactly is a CE anyway? You get a box with slightly different box art than the regular version, maybe a map or something, and then whatever bonus the developer decides to throw in. In this case it was the head start. So yeah, pretty much the only reason for anyone to buy the CE was for the head start.
So if you pay extra for the head start and then find out you can't even log in because the servers have reached a max population cap, wouldn't you be pissed? It makes sense to me.
Then again, like someone else said, this is exactly why you shouldn't ever play MMOs when they are first relesed. Even the best developers screw up their launch and try to rip off as many people as they can before anyone discovers whats happening. If this game is still here six months to a year from now, that would be the time to play a free trial of it and decide if its worth your time.
I guess I don't feel bad anymore for not getting the CE head start and the regular head start on the 16th when there is probably going to be a little more prep before it goes live for early access.
You'd think Mythic would learn somthing from WoW,, its always good to have more realms than you think you need.. however its great press.. the Internet is exploding with "WAR servers full - demand out strips supply" people think hum.. must be a great game think ill buy it.
I have to wait till tuesday so maybe it be sorted by then.
I usually buy CE version for the actual stuff you get inside the box and could careless about headstarts.
On another note, they have stated that they will be limiting the initial servers for each headstart and limiting the caps on the servers. I think it was something along the lines when CE headstart hit the servers will be capped to 1/2 their total and then raised to something like 3/4 for SE headstart and then raised to full cap at release. Plus they said it would only take about 30 minutes to put a new server online if needed. Which the WarHerald states they added a couple of servers already.
That's well and good, but as CE customers, we're technically should be getting a little VIP treatment here.
Being a peasant with only a SE pre-order I was unsure which server to roll on. I had planned on my beta server, but now I think I'll have a fresh start with my peers on an SE server.

I can just imagine how crazy this game is gonna be when the standard edition head start and the normal game goes live if you guys are getting 2 hour que times right now.
My guild is all going destro (against my best efforts to convince them to roll order). I think what I am going to do is save a character slot on our server for my black orc, then play my shadow warrior alt on a nice order server with no que times so I won't have to wait 2 hours to play my destro character.
I told the guild this would happen too, that destro would be so overpopulated that you wont even be able to get in the game or find a server that isn't full for the whole guild for the first couple weeks.
I hope Mythic understands that there could be up to 1 million people trying to play within the first couple weeks and the majority of them wanna be destruction side.
The que on skullthrone is over 500 2hr. plus wait. What the hell were they thinking only opening a handfull of servers? They know they would have 60k people the first day. Piss poor planning ftl.
They did it to look even more successful and popular. The thought of people waiting 2 hours in a que and them seeing 500+ waiting alone gives them excitement.
lol, they should open up 5-10 more servers because that is retarded. They should have had this better planned out. How did open beta go so well with NO QUES BUT NOW CE AND RETAIL COMES AND THEY'VE GOT HUGE QUES WITH ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF PEOPLE AT THE MOMENT AS IN BETA? Hmm not enough servers, correct. Wow, not organized at all.
P.S. looks like this is player balancing. Everyone trying to go one side and getting a much bigger que then the other side? Completely understandable for a game like this. So, guess some people are going to have to go to the other side that they didn't want to be. It's actually GOOD that they are balancing.
The WAR is under way and we want everyone to take part. In addition to our starting list of servers for the CE Headstart, we have also added three new Core Servers: Ulthuan, Vortex, and Ungrim. We will continue to add new servers of all types and adjust balances as the day progresses.
Update 2:05PM EDT - NA Server: Bretonnia (Core) is now available, have fun! In addition multiple servers have had their population caps increased.
Update 1:25 PM EDT - NA Server: Tor Elyr (RP/Core) has been opened, players interested in the RP ruleset should begin playing here, thank you!
Update 1:16 PM EDT - We have also added Iron Rock as a Core Server.

In anwser to your question, NO, I did not pay 15-20 dollars extra to ignore those "features" of the CE. I have not and probably will not be buying WAR until its been out for atleast six months or more to be sure that they have worked out all the bugs and other issues before I spend any money on it. Of course I said that in my post, which I guess you didn't read.
As for the rest of that stuff: A miniature? What am I an old lady who collects unicorns here? Art? Do I look French to you? An XP bonus I can use all of three times? Yeah, that will help with ginding... for three hours out of the several months you will probably spend doing it. Unique title? Unique in the sense that thousands of other people will have it you mean? Character heads? You want me to pay extra for something that will spend 99.9% of its time underneath a helment? Right... sounds like a great collection of junk to me. Do I need to explain how moronic it would be to pay for any of this stuff?
So like I said: You pay an extra $20 to log into the game a few days early. I don't blame the people who feel like they got cheated out of the only USEFUL feature of the CE when they are told they can't even log into the game because the developers didn't provide enough servers. (And it isn't like they weren't aware of how many they needed, they obviously knew how many people pre-ordered the CE version of the game.) This sort of crap from MMO developers is exactly the reason why I choose to think of them all of liars and cheaters. Its the truth a good 95% of the time.
Oh, and to the suggestion that this is balancing the number of players on one side or the other... well that sort of tactic may be well and good for an FPS game where the only difference between what side you are on is the color of your armor and team flag. But this is an MMO and people choose the side they want to play on because they prefer the races, classes and mission of that side. Telling them they can't play because of which side they play on is just taking away their freedom to play the game the way they want to play it. Thats both wrong and dumb at the same time. If its a balance issue, solve that at the battlefield level and limit the number of players on the battlefield, not the server as a whole.

No worries, I did read your entire post. I'm not implying you bought it, I'm merely responding to your "The headstart is all that matters" statement.
Now, I can understand why the extra stuff that comes with the CE might be uninteresting for you (It is for me, however, as a tabletop player). What I can't understand is why you would pay 20 bucks extra for 1 day of headstart (compared to the SE), when you can pay the normal price while not getting the so called "crap", yet still get a headstart. SE has 3 days (tops, considering your key will be validated fast enough), CE has 4.
Now, the whole "people might feel cheated out of the only usefull CE feature" is invalid. Why? Because the SE WITH headstart was announced a good month ago. People buying the CE (thinking they would be the only ones with a headstart) had plenty of time to simply switch to the SE, not wanting the again so called "crap". Again I emphasize that putting down 20 bucks purely for an extra day of playing is stupid, thats almost a full month of playtime (Moneywise anyway).
Lastly, the reason why the queues are so long is because everyone is rolling Destruction. We all know that. I, however, do not agree with your "freedom of rolls". It is all about balancing. It would be worse to have 400 people be Destruction and 100 be Order, simply because it is an RvR game. If you choose to roll Destruction, even though the side is "full", you should accept the consequences. Again, this kind of side-balancing was announced quite some time ahead. I guess this is something where opinions differ, and I simply disagree.
But........paying 20 bucks for 1 day of (extra) playing is stupid. THAT is something you cannot argue.
Hahaha oh gosh when will people stop saying WOTLK will own everything. I never had any interest in dull WoW ever. WAR is where I belong now. Whatever WoW will become can't ever change anything, it's still just ol' WoW.

The misinformation on message boards is a sad thing. Here this is, page 5 where nobody's going to read it, and we come to the reason why this thread is bandying around such rampant misinformation:
The servers are currently being capped at 33% of the population level.
They're going to slowly bump it back to teh 100% population level. Mark Jacob posted that on an IGN forum somewhere.
In terms of how our rollout plan looks like, here are some more details:
1) On day one, our population cap on each server will start at 1/3 of its total cap and then move up to ½ on a rolling basis. We can raise that number any time, no restart of the servers are necessary.
2) As a server approaches cap, we will either raise the cap again or deploy another server of that type. Deployment of a server takes only 30 minutes and our intention is that there are no server queues during the CE/SE period.
3) By day 2, we will raise the server cap of all servers to 2/3.
4) By day 3, we will raise the server cap of all servers to its full cap.
5) Each server’s cap is a bit soft and even our top cap is less than the servers can handle.
6) Depending on how many of our CE/SE players take advantage of the head start, we will add more servers as necessary throughout the entire process.
What I can't understand is why you would pay 20 bucks extra for 1 day of headstart
I wouldn't. I guess you didn't read my post again because I clearly said that I won't be buying this game for quite some time, thus I haven't paid 20 dollars extra for anything. Why do you keep assuming I've bought this game just because I can understand why some of the people who have bought the game expect to be able to play a game they have paid for?
You also miss the point on balance. I have nothing aginst balance. By all means, balance the game. I would hate to think it was unbalanced. However its WRONG to deny paying customers access the the game just because they choose the side that is winning. Thats a stupid way to balance a game by punishing paying customers of the winning side. If one side outnumbers the other then restrict the number of players per side on the RvR battlefields. But why deny people access to the server so they can't even level their characters in a PvE area, participate in guild events or communicate with their friends? These people are paying for the game, they are entitled to the right to log into the server of their choice and play reguardless of which side they happen to be on.

I can think of at least two good reasons:
1) Because if caps are unlimited then people on the same side will be struggling against eachother for a very limited number of monsters and be unable to progress at all.
2) Because allowing everyone to gain levels when they're on the overpopulated side defeats the server cap as being a power limiting feature.
And, come to think of it, I suspect people will be offended at not being able to participate in RvR because their side is too overpopulated. Either way, it's wave goodbye to your friends, you don't get to participate in RvR battle with them because your side is overpopulated and the door is locked.
Now, that said, I would like to agree with you that players should be able to log into whatever server they want and play whenever they want. After all, they bought the game! However, given the choice between instant gratification to the players or the overall health of the game world for all, I'm going to have to go with the overall health of the game world.

For the love of god, I did NOT imply you bought it. I am replying to THIS statement you made:

There are better ways to protect the health of the game than punishing paying customers.
If areas are over populated and players have to compete with each other just to kill NPCs to level or get loot, use instances. I haven't had this problem in an MMO since Asheron's Call and its probably because nearly every MMO I've played since then has used instances in some fashion. People who complain about instances have obviously forgotten the days of Evercamp where 50+ players could be standing around and all waiting for the same monster to respawn in the vain hope that one of them would get the chance to kill and loot it when it finally did respawn.
And if one side is leveling faster than the other, I suspect the game would just get boring for them as they would get bored when there was nobody to challenge them.
See, if 3/4 of the game decides to play destruction and the developers respond by putting caps on how many destruction players can log into a server then one of two things is going to happen:
Either...
A. Half the destruction players will be locked out of their server of choice, complaining about it the whole time.
or...
B. You will have a TON of servers to make room of them all and they will still outnumber the order players on their server by a huge margin.
Both cases are bad for the overall health of the game. So I say again, this is NOT the way to fix the problem. The developers need to instead make the Order side more attractive so more people will play it while placing reasonable limits on how many people of a given side can participate in RvR battles without preventing those people from taking part in other aspects of the game.
BizkitNL, I know which part of my post you are replying to. But you keep asking me why I paid for the game. I didn't pay for it, nor would I. I just think people who did should be able to play it.
Somebody mentioned mis-information but I gotta repeat that again. People just look at the post saying there is a very long queue and jump right way say "they should have more servers".
No, it's not like that. It's not about the number of servers they have. It's about every person that has CE is trying to make a character on a couple of cool named servers. That's why those servers have such a long queue while other servers have none. Why would they want to open more servers while there are plenty out there that has not even been used.
Second, the server cap. They has to do it like that because if they open it up to 100% right now, yes, people would be able to get in but you will get a server with 100:1 Destruction:Order ratio and that server is FK, like forever until the 1st server transfer available. Order will bored to tears because they have nobody to play with. Destruction will bored to tears because they have nobody to fight. And the low level zone server will crash and nobody can play. So, the lesser of the two evils really. You have a queue, but people can still play, people in the queue will scream versus low level zone crashes, everybody out and now everyone screaming. If I were them, I would pick the first solution too.
Today I have crashed probably 5-6 times and each time had a queue. Sometimes it was 1hr+ and sometimes 30mins or less.
That being said I would rather have high populated realms then Ghost towns. This is something that Blizzard never learned. Putting out to many servers without allowing some to fill up causes some to become severely underpopulated.
So far the servers seem very populated and this is only 1/3 of the cap. I havn't had any issues finding groups, getting queues to pop for scenarios, or finding open world RvR. So I give Mythic an A++ for their launch of servers. That is coming from someone that waiting literally hours in queue.

As I mentioned in the other thread, the game denies access to overpopulated factions on particular servers.
This is done to preserve some kind of balance in RvR.
Just roll on an underpopulated side (Order, what else) and you'll, very probably, be fine.

Is there any other reason to buy a collectors edition?
So....you paid 15-20 bucks more for a 1-day headstart, ignoring the following:
-Exclusive Games Workshop Miniature - Greenskin Warboss, Grumlok, and his shaman, Gazbag.
-The original graphic novel "Warhammer Online: Prelude To War," by acclaimed Games Workshop writer Graham McNeill, and illustrated by Chad Hardin, Joe Abraham, Rahsan Ekedal, Tony Parker, and Kevin Hopgood.
-"The Art Of Warhammer Online" - A Stunning Collection of art that gave birth to the Age of Reckoning
-Bonus in-game item – The Librams of Insight. (XP-gain modifier good for 60 minutes, 3 uses, 90 minute reuse timer)
-Twelve additional quests in the Tome of Knowledge, each offering an exciting reward, as well as an unique character title.
-Bonus in-game content – Twelve character heads (with male and female versions)
Is that what you're saying? Do I need to explain how moronic that sounds?
The History of the Order of The Golden Shields

I expect for a game to have some issues at first but as long as they fix it in a timely manner everything should be ok eventually
OKay, I found the actual post, it's right here:
http://vnboards.ign.com/warhammer_online_age_of_reckoning_general_board/b22997/108599710/p1
Here's the important part
The History of the Order of The Golden Shields
I wouldn't. I guess you didn't read my post again because I clearly said that I won't be buying this game for quite some time, thus I haven't paid 20 dollars extra for anything. Why do you keep assuming I've bought this game just because I can understand why some of the people who have bought the game expect to be able to play a game they have paid for?
For the love of god, I did NOT imply you bought it. I am replying to THIS statement you made:
Is there any other reason to buy a collectors edition? I mean really, what exactly is a CE anyway? You get a box with slightly different box art than the regular version, maybe a map or something, and then whatever bonus the developer decides to throw in. In this case it was the head start. So yeah, pretty much the only reason for anyone to buy the CE was for the head start.
THAT is what I'm trying to argue.
The History of the Order of The Golden Shields
