Hello Kitty Online: Founders’ Beta

Sanrio Digital has announced that they will begin an exclusive Founders Beta on October 8th, 2008.

Hong Kong – September 12, 2008: Sanrio Digital (www.sanriodigital.com) announced today that Hello Kitty Online will begin an exclusive Founders’ Beta on October 8, 2008. The Founders’ Beta will allow a limited number of users to play the official Hello Kitty MMORPG ahead of launch while receiving Founder benefits and participating in special in-game events.

Hello Kitty Online (www.hellokittyonline.com) is a free-to-play Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) based on Sanrio's famous characters. The game transports players into the cute and cuddly world of Sanrio Land, where players will meet and interact with over a hundred Sanrio characters, including Hello Kitty, Badtz-Maru, Keroppi, Dear Daniel, My Melody, Pochacco, Cinnamoroll, and many others.

Hello Kitty Online boasts several new additions and improvements since the Closed Beta version, and the Founder's Beta will feature a new game client with an improved interface, improved graphics and special effects, new monsters, new maps, new items, and the opening of London and Paris. The Founders’ Beta will also introduce gameplay changes such as new skills, new pet systems and team-play oriented enhancements.

    Seriously though, although this game is a great punching bag, I actually watched the video link all the way through on one of the "Next-gen MMO's have NOTHING on this" joke posts. If I had a daughter, this would be a great MMO for her. The customization seems fairly advanced, definitely on the level of EQII although I'm not sure there's as much variation as WoW seeing as I'm pretty sure you can just be human. The house decorating is similar to the Sims, I'm not sure if there's a currency but definitely some interaction with other players on a meaningful level. I'm not saying I would ever play it, but ten years from now I bet we'll be hearing girl gamers in MMORPG's and MMOFPS's talking about this as their gateway drug as opposed to the sims.

    lol! For me, this will be Goodbye Kitty!

    But I can see the attraction for kids... as long as they keep it safe from the paedophiles. That would be my biggest concern. There are so many sickos out there its scary. If you do let you little children play any online game be sure to educate them about the dangers and monitor their activity extensively.

    Agreed. I'll go a step further:

    Anyone who let's their kid 10 or under play ANY mmo, and especially one like this that screams "Pedophile buffet!!", by themselves is a moron and should be sterilized.
