well..open rvr has been ruined for me

Since this is a mostly pvp game I decided to give open rvr a chace. Well that was a mistake. Atleast blizzard putt some controll rules on it to make it a little more structured. At lvl 9 I found about 20 lvl 19-25 characters who did nothing but sit around ganking people....ON BOTH SIDES...What makes matters worse. is thats all these guy did. 16 hours a day. They need to have some sort of ruleset or penalty for attacking people 10-20 lvl's lower then yourself. Putt some sort of structure to get rid of the lifless trolls that just sit around with nothing better to do

On both sides?  Seriously?  I didn't know you could do that.

I really recommend playing on a core ruleset server.  The RvR works great there, geniusly designed by the very company that invented Realm versus Realm.  Frankly the "open RvR" servers are for flakes who just want to gank newbs, it's sort of a "go nuts and screw around" server, really.

I believe there is a chickening code. This , like many aspects of the game, will change over time and Likely be adjusted to prevent the low level ganking.

However, in Warhammer you can easily level up to second tier using the RvR scenariors exclusivly. IN Scenarios you wont be out leveled so much.

As with all PvP games, in the open zones its best to run with a crowd

This game really just wasn't meant for open RvR. I like my PvP but core is just more fun in WAR.

If you are being ganked by level 19 to 25s (which seems unlikely ten hours after CE servers launched), get off the Open servers and roll on a Core server.

I do think letting characters RvR in zones one tier below on Open servers was a huge mistake and ruined the Open servers for the majority of people who would have liked to play there.

On Core servers, you'll only be fighting characters from your same Tier in RvR lakes and Scenarios, so no ganking problems.

Open servers are just an afterthought and will be the cause of much QQ in the future.

They have the chicken rule to stop players two tiers above you from coming back.

The other issue I wanted to bring up is once you were outside of the newbie areas on a WoW pvp server you were on your own.  There wasn't a single thing against doing that.  Prior to the expansion once you zoned into the PvP areas even the guards couldn't stop max level players, as they were five levels below and non-elites.  The only penalty a long time ago was a dishonor kill if you killed a grey NPC.  That was later lifted as well, making it a pain in the rear to level because quest npcs were killed in the lowbie areas.  So I'm not really sure what control mechanisms you are talking about in regards to WoW.

Edit: The reason I would go for a Core server, is that RvR will be some what focused at the "Islands" along with bolstering allowing you to jump into the RvR zones at each tier.  Meaning that you are useful throughout the game, rather than when you are around the maximum level for the lower tiers.

There's no way I'll play on an Open RvR server. And this is coming from a UO PKer and player of perma-death games.

BTW, to expound on the change to the chicken rules on the Open servers:

Mythic caved to some vocal whiners and decided to adjust the chicken rule on those servers. Previously, you could not enter a lower level Tier with out triggering chicken mode. Now, you can enter one Tier below with out penalty.

Character power really increases with level and gear in this game. A level 6 has as much chance vs. a level 20 as vs. a level 40.

When Open servers were limited to PvP against people in the same tier, it ensured, (numbers being equal), both sides had a chance in PvP. No ganking lowbies (although zergs are still possible). Would have been great fun, but the griefer crowd won out, for now anyway.

The change only effects Open realms. Core realms still have a chicken rule fully in place for the RvR lakes and, of course, scenarios are level limited.

The reason behind this change was to give people the chance to get thier Tome unlocks, sadly it seems that people are using this leeway to gank.

The game was just never designed for an Open Ruleset.

Isn't that basically a core server?

All I can say is get off the open server.   I mean that in a nice way.

Every Mmorpg out there has heard the cries of the playstyles since UO made Trammel.

Well WAR has a server for every type.   Anyone not wanting open gankfest noob killn shouldn't roll on an Open server.

Your playstyle server exists., go there.

Hmmm reminds me of an SWG thread about player's whining changing the game.

I would like to state that in no way shape or form that anything I receive from SOE influences my opinion about SWG or their company. I’m pretty much a typical average player enjoying the game.

I would like to be the first to say, screenshots or it didn't happen. I think you're full of bullshit and get off the damn Open RvR server. 10 hours into the game and u say a level 25 gank you. Why do you QQ when you knew what was gonna happen. It like saying im gonna go eat at mcdonalds and not get fat.

  • ChannceChannce Member CommonPosts: 570

They put those gank fest servers in for the few that like that sorta thing, get money from them too.  My advise is to steer clear of em.  Core RvR works great.

When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
