With the upcoming expansion nearing release, I cannot help but wonder if there will be a lot of people in line at the register on release who've posted messages on mmorpg.com (or other gaming sites) that said "World of Warcraft sucks, it's boring, it's old, it's for n00bs..." etc. Will there be a population of naysayers who will take the game home, play play play, and come out of the room denying they've touched it? Thoughts?

Thank you for allowing me to not think while I repied to this thread.
You're welcome. Thinking is always an optional activity. How much of it an individual would like to pursue is entirely dependent upon one's desire to do so. It's one of the great freedoms we enjoy. The question of "Thoughts?" I'd ended my initial post with was an open-ended opportunity, but again, one always has the right to reject it.

It's always the people who stand in defiance that are the "daily" players of a game. Much like how those that question ones ruling class are usually that nations truest patriots.
Look at Bethesda Softworks "Modding Community". Those people can be outright unpleasant about bugs, but that's because they run into them more often than a casual player. And because of that, the company gets turned off of supporting them, afraid that giving them an inch will end up with a mile of requests.
WoW is a great game. A great game, with a very large fanbase. As we all know, some politician in ages past made the world think his opinion was that of the masses. Naysayers try to do the same thing with the game, by having a crap-fests about "x issue" on any forum that won't ban them. I have friends that love the game, but will not stop complaining to me about how "insert class" needs to be nerfed, because they lost in a fight, or solo'ed more mobs than they did.
ZD is right and good post!
A small number are in denial or just think it's hip to bash on WoW and will buy the game anyway. Most that buy the game though have never posted a negative thing about it.
I've heard the phrase, "We hurt the ones we love the most. It's a subtle form of compliment". I take the meaning to be that if we truly don't care about something, then usually what is said is nothing at all. I just tend to wonder the reasoning behind it, because if Blizzard is a business and a business cares about the bottom line (sales), what good does it do to buy and complain?
I suspect you're right that most people buy and never post anything negative about it. I also suspect that most buy and never post anything positive about it.

I might be this down the road (think april of 09). I have no immediate reason to buy this as I'll be playing WAR. Although, I do have to say, we (on the war boards) do deal with a lot of clueless WoW trolls. I didn't come here to troll myself, but won't to prove tomsyefl that not everyone who plays WoW is a moron (just the ones that troll the WAR forums). and I'm right. You aren't all Morons. Thanks!
But, back on subject. I haven't maxed a character in WoW. I have no intention to do that as all I really like to do is PvP (which revolves around twinks and gear) and, as such, WAR is a better fit.
