Oh no! My friends are going order!

In the cb i played a witch hunter and a bright wizard. And they were fun, but nothing that really made me want to play WAR.
later on i started trying out destruction, and
LOVE: Black Orc, Zealot, Marauder
REALLY LIKE: Shaman, Chosen, Magus
Moderately interesting: squig herder, DoK
HATE: Witch Elf(sorry i don't play whores)
Dwarves? I just don't like dwarves, at all. In fact i absolutely hate them. I always have. Destroys my favorite mirror(zealot-runepriest)
Elves? originally i was a big white lion fanatic, but once i got a chance to get my hands on them, i quickly realized I HATED the pet, it felt stupid and more tedious in pvp then I was hoping(sigh). As well as the actual melee from the class not really having any flair.
The Archmage... a mirror to the shaman. but I don't know... he doesn't capture the same flair the shaman has, but it's still one of my top "i guess i'll just play this" characters.
Then there's the swordmaster... A mirror to the Black Orc... but the class didn't have much flair, admittedly i only got to level 5, but it felt so slow and clunky. It probably gets better, but it doesn't change the fact you look a caster trying to tank =P
Shadow Warrior is tolerable.
Then the empire, The warrior priest. I've played a paladin as my first and main class in so many other games, that theres no way i'd ever roll one again.
The witch hunter, moderately interesting
And the bright wizard... I might be able to enjoy this as long as i avoid the DoT spec(which is the most interesting to be sadly)
So i'm left with
Moderately interesting: Witch Hunter
Tolerable: Arch mage, Shadow Warrior, Bright wizard
Hate:everything else
So in the end I've come to a choice
Play with my friends and have more fun playing with them then by myself
or
Play with the classes I'm interested in, and have more fun playing WAR then otherwise

Your friends made a wise choice. Play order with them, in the long run you'll prolly end up being happy you did, what with que's and order getting benefits to leveling and whatnot due to the server imba. Plus, if you don't end up liking it, least you tried, you can switch to destruction at any time, no big loss.

Anywho, give Order a chance. The classes and, yes, even the races are quite hardcore once you get to know them a little better.
How are they whores? Did they actually sex up every race there is in the game? I think not.

Second, believe me, all the classes get better as you go and if you give order a chance it will grow on you.
Preview weekend I played a Disciple of Khaine and loved it. At the beginning of Open Beta, I split time with a Disciple and a Witch Elf, which I also loved.
When I saw how lopsided the population was for Destruction, I switched to Order. It did take a few days to adjust, but I really came to love Sword Master and Arch Mage. Shadow Warrior was fun too, but time was limited.
On Sword Master, it does indeed get much better as you progress. I was bored with the class until I got to Rank 9 or 10, then things started to really gel.
I'm planning Archmage as my main, because I enjoy the class and there is often a lack of good healers in MMORPGS, but If I find an over abundance of Archmages, I'd be just as happy with a Sword Master or a Shadow Warrior.
White Lion has a lot of potential, but the pet can indeed be a hassle. I do plan to try an alt once things calm down a bit. Too bad Mythic felt the need to make White Lions a Pet Class (from what I can tell from the tabletop game, the White Lions wear white lion pelts as cloaks, rather than having a white lion fighting by their sides).

All I know is I got raped in the butt by them over and over and over on my white lion and bright wizard - proof enough?
I feel pretty much the same as you do as far as what I enjoy playing. Though I do really digg the bw. I would suggest that, since you seem to like many melee classes, you give the swordmaster another look. It gets very fun and very effective later in the game. In RvR they are my favorite tank class to play, even over the dest tanks.

Didnt RvR much did you? Heck my Witch Elf was top on damage and kills every match.

make a sword master. plays a lot like black orc. Even if its a elf they play very well.
if you have your own prefferences in terms of classes, then the correct answer is: play the classes you like.
enjoyment comes as much from playing with friends as it comes from self realization. Still your friends might not be there always for you to play with , but in a way everytime you log, you log in the character you chosed.
Everyone seems to know what they are talking about here. Choose what you want to play. I am going to play order as well but the rest of my guild is going destruction. I am DIFFERENT!!!

Agreed. In every MMO I played - if I wasn't playing with RL friends my stay in the game wasn't near as long.

Actually i love dwarfs, the dwarf zones are always so appealing to me...The iron breaker was a ton of fun in OB to me. Not highest dps, but def a good meat shield and could cause some chaos

well i have the opposite problem to you my friends wanted to play destruction but i found i wanted to play order for me it was a choice between archmage shadow warrior or sorceress looks like sorceress will be mine
yeah i might be a dwarf, simply because its better then swordmaster for tanking
