...you.
If there's any game you should not be believe the hype / anti hype with Vanguard.
first impressions mean a lot and there are a lot of people with first impressions a year old continuing to comment on this game as if it were the present state.
The best way to determine if this game is for you or not is to form your own opinion and play the trial. having just came back after leaving in beta i'd say the trial is a pretty good example of how the rest of the game plays out for me (stlil only mid level chars granted).
/fanboiism off.
Come here if you want to hear people who like the game exchange dialogues back and fourth with people who dont. The converstaions become akin to how red is better than orange. but I think a lot of you will be plesently suprised like i was.
Comments
Quoted for truth. I will never understand how people make comments on an MMO they haven't played for a long time. Like no other genre, MMOs are always caught in the flow, as I would call it, so you might be talking about a totally different game if you still transport your opinion from a year ago.
I agree on the trial, it is pretty comprehensive and shows about everything the game has to offer in "low level" state naturally. All those features play out differently in the end game.
I have been quitting back in the days due to the mass of bugs, returned and gave it a second look. Been playing ever since and still like it, but there is still a lack of content noticeable, especially for people in hardcore guilds which work through content a lot faster than the casual gamers.
Nice thread.
I think often people forget the point of games is to have fun, and they get caught up in trying to play the 'hot' game of the moment.
As you say, the only person who can decide whether or not a game is for is....you
People also forget that one game doesn't offer it all. If you take Vanguard for what it is then it's very good indeed.
It's an old school PvE MMO. I go back to Vanguard every now and then and really enjoy the time I spend in Telon.

And this is what I like about it.
V:SoH, EQ, EQII all have a look and feel that I prefer over the newer MMOs.
Yeah WoW is a great game and WAR is excellent but I just like the way the V:SoH plays. When you have to look at the back of someones head for several months why not choose a game that offers what you want the way you want despite what ever is shiny and new.
Besides V:SoH has got alot more shine now. Without massive sholder pads.
""But Coyote, you could learn! You only prefer keyboard and mouse because that's all you've ever known!" You might say right before you hug a rainforest and walk in sandals to your drum circle where you're trying to raise group consciousness of ladybugs or whatever it is you dirty goddamn hippies do when you're not busy smoking pot and smelling bad."
Coyote's Howling: Death of the Computer
right, the best thing you can do is to try it yourself. What I really dont like is how fanbois make a stories of how great their game is, never admitting any cons..All this hype only ends up with you being dissapointed after trying that game out. I mean I like VG a lot its got that special kind of feeling of exploring, on the other hand many of my friends like pvp a lot so there´s problly no chance i could make them play this game, but thats ok i don´t mind I won´t tell them c´mon you must try VG, cause after all its a metter of opinion. YOu shouldn´t be looking for personal opinions when it comes to games, look for a facts and infos and then you either try it or not
i would not reccommend vanguard as a game if youre into the pvp aspects of mmorpg games.
Vanguard's market is for the PvE crowd so far.
