So the title says it all. I am at this time at a crossroads. I personally have had a renewed interest in raiding, but still loving my pvp so what is WAR going to bring me on both ends? I have been in closed beta for War and Open Beta...currently in head start and i must say i do like the game, but I'm still worried about raids and instances. I want to be able to get a group and go run a small dungeon, but have yet to find anything like that. Sure the PQs are great, but not satisfying my thirst at this time.
Warhammer has so much to it that i like and WoW now going on 4 years for me is just lackluster. WoW to me is moving too much toward the casual and could be played decently by a brain dead person imo (sarcasm). Anyways, that's about all i have to say on my issue, i am going to place a poll for those of you who are too lazy to post lol. Thanks.

If your looking for the style of Raiding such as WoW & EQ1/2 where you grind your life away for gear ... WAR will not get you that...period. It has dungeons, it has a large encounter but it doesn't have a focus on Raiding...basically anyone can do anything in WAR...no elite content ala Kaplan style.
They have several dungeons that begin at Tier 3 and in the Cities for Tier 3 players. They are open world public dungeons ala EQ1 the final BOSS how ever is a Six Man private instance. All Dungeons are this way.
There are low level lairs for Tier 1 & 2 but you have to do something special to open some of them and they're level restricted due to being in the RvR areas.
There's also the raids that happen when you capture an enemy city. There's 2 raid spots in each city you have to defeat and capture before you can unlock the fight for the king. Fighting the king is a raid encounter in itself and definately something that'll keep your appetite whet.

both theres plenty of time before wow gets a 3 rd expansion proberbly another 2 years . i doubt everyone will want to play it solid for that time .
personally i ll alternate between wow war and lotro
variety is the spice of life after all
hell i may even play conan for a bit too
I simply like both.
To be perfectly honest, I'd keep playing WoW a couple months longer if you prefer raids and dungeons. Although I realize this game does intend on including some end-game PvE and dungeons (at least I think they mentioned this) 1.) It's main focus is on PvP and 2.) it's a new game. And with all new games it has little end-game PvE, as on the other hand it has plenty of PvP.
It won't be until a couple of months from now when everything is at 110% of what this game expects itself to be (not trying to be 300% like AoC did or 25% like almost every other game coming out). At least from a PvE perspective. To be honest I'm having a blast in the PvP though.
Overall, if you want a mix of PvP or PvE I would personally suggest WoW until WAR has enough PvE content. Even so, when it does add it's PvE content, I'd stay in WoW if you prefer PvE because I have no doubt in my mind WoW's PvE will be better as that is what it is designed around. If you just like beating the crap out of other people though, keep playing WAR.
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
In my honest opinion,
If you're a PvE player, WoW wins hands down.
if you're a PvP player, WAR wins hands down.
Either way you lose.. I'm at the same "crossroad" -- its been years.. and years.. I refuse to accept that my idea of the genre has come and past.. Sigh.. either way your going to go play whichever and then try to find ways to play the other-- simply starved for a game.. looking, like a starving hound.
I've played Eve - and loved it - I go back every so often.
I played EQ2 - and USED to go back but can only stick to one fantasy MMORPG at a time.
I played CoH and got borred.
I played WOW and thought it was fun but got borred fast and never went back.
So far, WAR is a blast - more so then WOW ever was. There is an addicitive feel to doing PQ, RVR and Scenerios. playing an engineer and I can only say, what a unique class.
TO be honest, its not even close. Try WAR for yourself, you wont regret it.
not saying wow's a bad game but its kinda old now.
im for Warhammer sence its somthing new and before warhammer id never pvp sence you didnt realy earn much from doing it.
i found 2 instances in the major city. i'll bet there is alot more.
Im curious... How do you all justify WAR pvp being better than WoW? WAR is slow and very limited in there is a 1.5-2sec global cooldown on everything you do so there is alot of waiting time for each spell and/or attack... Its similar to playing old final fantasy games where you alternate turns between characters, whereas WoW players with good keyboard and macro skills allow players to unload spells on eachother with twice the amount of variety and speed. Making for a fast paced battle.
P.S. Im not a fanboi for either side
You been a closed tester and you need to ask this question? What was your forum name? I am an elder tester over a year and nobody can tell me more about this game than I have already seen myself. This should be the same for you then as well..... if you were actually a closed tester....

Voted WAR because you seemed burnt out from WoW. But really if you think WoW is heading towards brain dead you can't possibly think much about the WAR direction. I personally love that WAR is casual friendly to a fault but really if you dislike WoW for ease I can't see how you can say WAR is hard with a straight face.
If nothing else play WAR for two months and then go back to WoW for WotLK which being new will be fresh and like all WoW released packed so easily provide six months of content before you get burnt out again.
This is why I have an MMO rotation. The days of me playing 1 MMO year after year ended in 2004.
well, I know one thing.. I used to let my 10 year old son do all the pvp grinding in WoW. it was that simple to do.. no strategy involved. he just used macros i had made. There also wasnt any reason to pvp in WoW other than for gear to go PvE, that was it.
At least in War, there is a purpose in the "endgame". Sieges, city battles, extra dungeons, etc.. that really does make a difference and you wont see a lot of ppl going AFK like in WoW pvp and racking up badges/points while others do the work. (yeah, I was one of those, but I was mainly PvE for gear to raid so I didnt care about WoW pvp)
The concept of no real goal for pvping other than "just to kill the other guy" was about as mindless as PvE quests to go "kill X amount of Bolusian Tree Squirrels". It just might be the thing a PvP hater such as myself needs to get interested in it.
I will be giving War a shot (and wont be letting my son play it this time) :P

It's really just personal opinion. Most of us say that the PvP is better because 1.) the game's focus is on PvP 2.) The classes are built more on PvP gameplay rather then PvE 3.) Feature's RvR and is based greatly on group play in an open battle.
WoW's focus is on PvE, their classes are mainly built around PvE with PvP on the side, and has non-existant world pvp and focuses on balance in a 1 versus 1 state.
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
To be fair focus only really matters if you deliver. What the community wants WAR to be and what it is aren't terribly in sync. WAR is a linear theme park MMO that leads you by the nose through the content... some of which is PvP. But like WoW I can and will be spending most of my time PvE popping into BGs along the way. Open RvR though no thanks, RvR to open cities no thanks. Like WoW its what you make of it and what you're interested in, what the devs/community says the focus is really doesn't matter.
Just try some games out and find what you like, just because everyone else is playing something doesn't mean it will be good for you.

Just like many have said, i think it depends on what you are after. for me, WoW=PvE, which i can only do so long. I have always been a big fan of Mythic from DAoC days and love there PvP style. I do think Mythics PvE has lacked at times but if you love the PvP<which i do> WAR is the winner by a long shot. i played WoW since beta up until AoC came out and loved it for the first 2 years or so but it really started dragging for me.
WAR's main focus is PvP - so if you are interested in that there is plenty of PvE content to get you to max level.
If you want to spend endless hours grinding for gear - stick to WOW.
WAR's PvE seems to be aimed at more casual players. is no 4 hour raids.
war = wow + more....
GCD is 1.4 sec . .1 less than wow. The problem is the keyspammers. If you have a skill building up and you press a skill midway , it cancel it and trigger your GCD. As a SW i spam my skills quite fast , because I wait for the casting to be done before pressing another one. I outdamage higher levels on a regular basis because they don't seem to grasp that this ain't wow and spamming 111111111 actually screw your game.
Don't get me wrong , the UI/skillbar need to be smoother and is not perfect but seriously as good if not a tad better than wow at release. And with the way Mythic have patch up to now , I am fully confident it will get even better.

Want pvp go WAR, want pve go WoW, simple as that.
So what your saying is In the game war gear comes freely and in wow you have to work for it or "grind" your life away for it..Hard to pick what game i wana play..Working for gear will pay off later and make the game fun or log in and get free gear.
I haven't seem a very important factor mentioned, if this guy likes wow he's going to hate itemization in war. Everyone who shares the same class as you will look just like you (albeit with small differences). As you level up your equipment hardly changes outside of stats. There are legitimate reasons behind this, however to someone obviously into "gear" this might be a detrimental issue.
