I read that people play a mmorpg for 1 - 6 months and then say the game *sucks* and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If it kept your interest that long wouldn't you consider it a good game?
The changes the dev team made in the 6 months. The believe of the player that problems can be resolved. The time invested in a character and not willing to give it up. No high-end content available.
All in all, the culmination of problems could surpass the early day bliss.
Games change over time - what was available at one time can be different - any new game will morph and grow with the idea of getting better and learning from its mistakes/experiences - some of the early players may enjoy how a game is at the start but cannot adapt, ending up hating the game in a few months. A lot of people are very resistant to change.
A good game should last a very long time, all good games adapt and change so that they will last for absolutely ages. A great game will last ages because people will keep playing it.
When I get a game I want it to last ages and ages so that i can keep going and going without ever getting bored of it.
i agree with what they both said, alot of times as mmos age people find very annoying and cheap methods of doing things that can spoil certain aspects of the game that at one time might have seemed very fun. so its not actually that the game is sucking but htat many of the ppl who are playing it suck is probably more of what htey mean
There was this one game that I really liked when I first started playing it.
** cough AO cough ** But with every expansion it seemed to go down the tubes so after 2 years and the AI expansion I quit playing it. My problem was every expansion seemed to change the game to be more like everyother game out there. The aspects of the game that I liked where destroyed with each new expansion. Oh well I am sure it was partly me and my own tastes. But I sure do miss the way it used to be.

Well, it could depend on a number of things.
