I've been gone from WoW for 5-6 months now and recently used a res scroll to try my old avatars again for ten days.

I have five level 70 avatars a paladin, warrior, druid on alliance and hunter, warlock on horde side.

in my ten days of playing my old avatars I ran a few battlegrounds, did the dalies with my druid, picked herbs and crafted a decent amount of elixirs. I also got to tank kara with my druid (server pug) and joined my old guild again and healed through TK with my holy paladin.

So its pretty safe to say that I did everything you could do in wow during my return.

While It was nice to talk to my old friends again WoW just doesn't seem as good as it used to be.

Let me explain in my time away I quested in Eq2 and Lotro, explored in Ryzom and vanguard and pvped in Eve,GW and WAR (OB).

While WoW is extremly polished and a great game for what it is I just can't go back to a game when I've found others with features that are just superior.

Sure WoWs graphics are extremly pretty (art style) and the fighting is tight and more polished than most..... but I'm sorry to say that isnt enough.

I tried guys, I really did but wow is not for me anymore.

Have you gotten a chance to try out WoTLK yet? I heard it's a lot of fun. I was kind of disappointed with TBC (although I ended up playing it anyway), so I'm hoping it's way better than TBC otherwise I'm off to Warhammer.

    no need to apologize...

Theres a decent amount of burnout in any mmo.. WoW is no exception. With most people even an expansion isnt enough to keep them there, even though its new content. This is a natural progression of gaming.

The one thing that didnt make sense to me though, was WoW did something REALLY stupid. They introduce one new class, DK. Usually when a game has an expansion they introduce at least TWO new classes, so there can be some balance. Come November you are gonna have a bunch of LFG ppl for DK, and no one really wanting to fill the other classes out much. Fury Warriors are immediately obsolete because if you gonna make a class that is melee,,, why not have one that can CC some as well like a DK can do?

They would have been much smarter to make a bard class, a summoner/avatar type class or something else along with a DK. That way, would have brought more interest in the expansion. I dont think WoW will suffer from their base much, the casual player, but they could have gotten more interest from people who were looking from other games, or people like the above poster who sometimes try to return.

The raiding people will stay at WoW due to new dungeons, but I do know whole guilds that have already left/moved WoW to Warhammer due to the amount of class choice (and pvp was their main thing anyways, not like WoW)

People get tired of games after awhile, no worries, find one and have fun with it.  People that turn these MMO's into some kind of gang fight are lame, not saying you are saying anything just felt i needed to say it heh, have fun finding a game that entertains you =D

Why are you apologising? its not like the people here are paying your sub fee. If you dont want to play the game, dont. its really that simple.

I normally play three MMOs while I was playing WoW I also played Eve and AO (froob) all three games kept me happy for a long time.

Currently I'm playing still playing eve for the freedom and pvp, Ryzom since the Mob AI and game world are Amazing and GW currently running the latest Expansions dungeons with friends.

Keep in mind I played WoW for a very long time, I don't hate WoW at all. I just feel that other games do certain aspects of WoW better. I still stand by my statement that WoW has the tightest combat and a very pretty art style that I enjoy very much.

Edit: I don't want this thread to sound like a "wow sucks im leaving cause i found a better game"

I'm a old fan of the game and was hoping I could continue to play it, Its unfortunate that this game doesnt do it for my anymore.

No need to apologise for anything, you realised that you had burned out on the game content and moved on, i wish more people would do that rather than keep their subs up and just troll the forums moaning about how bored they are.

I hope you get the chance to try out WoTLK as it would be a shame to let those chars go to waste, but again, if you are not enjoying it then what is the point in playing.

Hope you enjoy whatever you decide to play, have a good one :)

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

Like others have said MMO burnout is normal and since wow is nearing its 4 year mark Im sure more and more are feeling this way.

Someone asked about WotLK beta, well Im in beta and the first thing is Northrend is a much better continent than outland, I love the snowy areas and the nordic feel it has. Aside from that though its pretty much the same as BC, you're gonna level 10 more levels then grind BGs or raid for gear so its kind of up to you on whether you'll like it or not. I personally am excited about the 10 man raid progression so Ill probably at least try that out and see how I feel about the game after a few months of that.
