A while back there was someone that mentioned a fantasy series,
which some people regarded as better than the LOTR series.
The only thing i can really remember is that it was told from the "Lowly footmans" point of view, instead of the general's point of view.
Its name was not english, if i remember correctly.
Have any ideas?

There are a ton of series better then LoTR imho.
As far as one being from that character view i can think of a bunch. Any more info to narrow the search down?
Hmmm, thats not really much to go on.
Any idea of the timeframe? Like is it recent, or like 20 years old? How many books in the series?
I don''t really know when Humankind will die out but i''m guessing about 6 years before WOW.

May I suggest John Jakes' "Brak the Barbarian" series.
The Black Company series by Glen Cook might be something along the lines you are looking for.
LOTR really isn't the best series, as far as reading goes. What's special about them is the depth fo the world building. I think there are family trees of every major and minor character. Stuff like that.
R.I.P. City of Heroes and my 17 characters there
While a good series, it's not even remotely like LOTR told from a footman's point of view. It's just very weird. (Do not see the BBC version of it, it's horrible).

Yeah, I thought he was talking about 'The Black Company' by Glen Cook. Evidently not.
Nevertheless, it's an excellent series and Cook is a greatly under-rated author, IMO.
BTW, this thread needs to be moved to Off Topic.
