Well I told myself that after getting all hyped up for D&D online, Conan, Vanguard that I wouldn't fall for it again.......I did. I started paying the head start last night. I do like the story line and Lore however the character models and animations are horrible, hard to believe that after three years in the works this is the best they could come up with. I will keep playing with an open mind but I was hoping for a little more.

This is a polished game well worth the box price. Give it time, and if you don't like it by the end of Tier 2 then it isn't the game for you, but that is something you probably could have figured out before buying it.
just thank god they didnt pull an AOC and only give a crap about graphics and character customization...
Can't say too much about the animations, they did not strike me either way, but I *do* like the models. They are very faithful to the lore and quite well detailes.
If there is one small critique that i could make is that many textures become quite pixelated when seen from close up, but for the rest, they look good to me.
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
from open beta graphics looked like a mix of wow and lotr, with a thin layer of dirt on top
Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.
I must change my original opinion....The character models are good (I really like the High Elf), just the animation is lacking, feels as if your in slow motion. Is it a new 3D engine?
Graphics is simpler than AoC yes but there is an advantage to this: It means you can fight big pvp battles without any lag without having a super rig.
"You are the hero our legends have foretold will save our tribe, therefore please go kill 10 pigs."
The animations are hit or miss. You're right, the animations for high elves can seem stiff. Especially the male run. Load up a male or female zealot though, it's like a completely different team did it.
tonight, PVP was delightful. Strategy and tactics ruled.
A very simple Teir one battlemap with a very simple concept. Control three locations.
Simple Plan: control and own TWO locations and don't zerg around the battlefield like idiots = WIN
Order did, and we won handily.
No twinks owned the battlefield, no charge down the middle, no random hauling ass zerg as alliance lambs fall to the slaughter.
Then I found an open RVR zone I don't have to queue for and isn't reserved for endgame. "So you mean mister developer, I don't have to first spend 500 hours in your game in order to enjoy a RVR zone that isn't queued?".
Awesome. The best of both worlds, for someone who wants the challenge of PVP when strategy and tactics will win but doesn't want to be ganked in the starter areas.
Plus a RP server, which means most of the players have picked names that sort of help the immersion factor.
Tonight, the public quests all started to make sense to me. Instead of being angry that someone "Kill stole" my quest objectives or forced to group with a bunch of idiots, I can basically PUG without having to join a party and so I could actually have a good and enjoyable experience in PVE.
I remember in DAOC when it first came out, there was this Graveyard in Albion starter area. There were 30 of us standing around waiting for the Spawn of one monster. Meanwhile some high level would run in and then spamkill everything making us wait even longer.
Gone was this 'stand in line' mentality with the public quest. A brilliant solution.
All in all, these features, coupled with the fact that the classes are just kind of "Cool", mean that this game has so much potential.
Hate to say it, because I have subscribed to WoW since it's inception, but I can't see why I would play WOTLK now. I may buy the CE of the Lich King just because I know how hard it is to get after launch, but right now, I can't see why.
Mythic was never all that great with animations. They haven't mastered linking & blending of 3 different animations to make one full action, (like WoW and Anrachy Online have done).
