Question about performance

Hey guys,

Quick question about the game.

I downloaded the demo during that weekend where preorders were invited in (pre-ordered the game for a buck from target). When I got into the game, it was very laggy. I wasn't sure if this was because of my PC or just the sheer amount of people. I went to a website called "Can I Run It" and I passed all of the minimum system requirements (by a lot).

If I can run WoW on my PC, will I be able to run this game well? I could run Age of Conan, but only on the absolute lowest setting with shadows turned waaaay low. Is this game friendly to 2 year old PC's? As I said, meet all requirements, but will I miss out on a lot? Just wondering what you all think.

Really tired of WoW and this game looks promising.

Thanks!

If you are able to run AoC you should be fine with WAR.  Most of the lag from preview weekend was due to so many people crammed into one area.  WAR may start out laggy but as you get away from the masses it smooths out.  My computer is pretty close to two years old and I can run the game on max with 4AA and 16AF @ 1920x1200.

Edit: Keep in mind the game does have a pretty sustantial memory leak so if you have 2gigs or less you may run into a lot of hitching.

Basicly I'd say the game would run on most systems. It does have some req's though and Scenario's and Heavy crowded RvR can get very laggy. Also I've sensed a slight memory leak in the game which occurs after playing for some hours.

But there are 3 settings for graphics and fully customizable setups. So it should be possible to find a setup that works for you.

    WoW won't die.
    WAR won't die.
Get over it. Learn to live with the fact that both games are amazing in their own ways.

Ok, cool. Thank you. I think I'm going to pick it up after work then. I'm looking up the different classes now. Worst case scenario, I guess I'll have to just turn the graphics down.

    Thanks again.

I noticed this huge memory usage too when I was looking at the Task Manager in Windows. That's something that should be fixed, right? Seems like it was taking a lot more memory than the average game takes... but I could be wrong. Shouldn't this have been something that was fixed in Open Beta?

If I can play WoW fine, can I play this?

    Thanks,
