WARs Achillies Heel

Is it me or is the crafting system the real weakness of WAR?

Talisman cannot be done without a good guild or economy.  Herblism is a time sink with little bonus.

Most people will run scavaging/alchemy.

Waiting for the next thing

An achilles heel is something that could case it's downfall imo, so more something like the pop imbalance.

Crafting is more like the ugly zit on achilles face I think ^^

I haven't been impressed so far either with what I heared so far but the importance of crafting is perhaps lower in WAR as in games like AoC where it yielded good gear. I think Mythic aimed in making other aspects of the game more entertaining and rewarding. Still it would be nice to have some more proffessions and maybe an alltogether deeper system to have some more alternative things to do.

I thought this reply by someone on the VNforums who didn't like crafting was particularly funny.

I understand Mr. Marks desire to have a non-recipe based crafting system. He has some issues with recipes. His mother never taught him how to cook. He would rather take junk out of the refrigerator and just throw something together. My kids did that when they were little. Ketchup, cheese, pickles, and peanut butter sandwiches - whatever sounded good to them. I would let them experiment and I would MAKE them eat what mess they made. (well, eat at least a few bites).

The lack of good crafting is one of the problems with WAR. I think that PvE is weak and will also add to the list. But most of all, I just don't see how the end game is going to be that fun after awhile. If by end game, we're talking about taking over keep after keep then what's the point? I think the most serious problem with WAR is the repetitive nature of RvR, not only in scenarios but in open as well. I just couldn't justify paying money when I was getting tired of the same scenarios after a week of play. I'm sure some people will love doing the same thing over and over but I want options and WAR has few fun options.

Its not a problem they specificially designed it to not be a major focus / activity for players.  This is not a crafter's game they said it themselves months ago when they first announced crafting.  It is however a viable way to make a few items for yourself or friends that don't drop.  Alot of people don't need crafting to like a game...these are going to be the people who like WAR the best.   I think that PvE is weak and will also add to the list.  This is an RvR game...the PvE does get harder, more innovative later on but its really just something to bide your time with when your not fighting over keeps or seigign on a city.   But most of all, I just don't see how the end game is going to be that fun after awhile. If by end game, we're talking about taking over keep after keep then what's the point? There's Dungeons, Fortress Sieging and Capital Seiging at End game..what more do you want?  Land Development barbie mini games??   Dungeons are awsome...I just can't explain much more than that, Fortress Seiging is needed to go after someoen's Capital.  The capital opens up the King Encounter, More dungeons, more PQ's, and more areas to PvP  and ways to actually DELEVEL / remove content from the otherside....doesn't sound like it'll get boring any time soon especially if they impliment the idea they had for the other cities..where only 1 Pairing's capital is the focus of endgame at a time..so maybe in a few months the battlefront shifts to Dwarves vs Greenskins..thats more content more things to see & do.  Whats funny is how people say its RvR so its repeative but atleast your facing down different guilds & obsticals depending on the day..when you Raid a Raid Dungeon in WoW or EQ2 10 times a month you face the same obstacles and same NPC's every single time..but yet everyone seems to stupidly love it. See Above...besides if you want to train in Renown & buy Renown gear you have to take the otherside's fortresses ... You obviously haven't read deep into the end game of WAR...there are Dungeons, there are PQ's, there is Scenarios, there Are Open PvP fields, there's City Sieging, city Dungeons, Guild activities only availabe by lvling your guild etc.

End game activites for both PvP & PVE aren't handed to you on a silver platter like most games...you actually have to along with your realm WORK to open up alot the end game activites..and yes its a TEMPORARY open...and the enemy will fight like hell to stop you.    If you want your End game handed too you there's about 10 games i can recommend to you ..where the most you gotta do is show up with your guild.
