well, from what I'veeen hearing, it also sounds like the freinds list and guild list will carry across aswell...
so not really worried
Don't really care to be honest. Anyone whose worth keeping I have on MSN/Xfire, so I can just get their new IGNs through them. A wipe of my friends list is needed I think, considering some people haven't been on in ages.
Ah how I miss those days...
Actually, on the note of Xfire, as my guild was based inGuild Wars asthe backbone of the guild, as we'vedifferentiated into other games we'renow using Xfire as the guildback bone aswell as our forum... hen guildies can stay in contact (unless playing onXbox 360) and share ideasand plans for games
hmmm i gotta say, i didnt expect ANY replies this early, but im happy, and btw, thanks for the info. i DO think the list SHOULD be carried over... oh yeah, add me on ur friends list if u want, we can play around and whatnot, just add altair the third

I'm sure the list will be carried over, as well as guilds, because that would be inconvenient to have to start over with another guild (especially if you are close to your current guildmates), but other than that, I'm not going to worry. Most of my friends are game friends, and they haven't been on for ages, except for a couple former guildmates that I can always write down and retransfer. Also, some of my real life friends quit, so it really doesn't matter if I have to write them down manually and put them on my new friends list (or purge them if they quit).
we talk about gw2 sometimes in guild and allience chat , most of us will get gw2 and hopefuly in the ae guild

Is it true that their will be no outposts in the game, and it will be more like other MMO's
e.g. WoW????
Playing: GuildWars
Contemplating: Silkroad, WoW
Waiting: GuildWars 2, Stargate Worlds
No one knows yet, no more info has been released about it yet
Hmm thy'll have little towns but not like outposts...but thy sed thyll still be instances so thts fine
The most of them will be "forced" to start playing GW2 since (they believe) that the original Guild Wars will die. Apart from that GW2 will hopefully provide better PvP; if Izzy ever learns what the word balance means... I know that at least one or two of them will buy GW2, and I don't really care to be honest. Getting new friends in Guild Wars will probably not prove that hard.
I've been wondering - do you guys think ANet will implement some sort of housing system in Guild Wars 2? I'm hoping for something like housing that takes up actual space in the world with fully-customizable houses, as apart from skills Guild Wars currently lacks customization in my opinion. Would be a welcomed contrast.
I hope they don't. If GW2 isn't completely different from what GW1 is then I don't really think housing got "synergies" (damaged from making too many builds/teams in GW) with the rest of the game. Additionally I think Guild Wars got enough ePeen items as it is now; armor, titles and minipets is sufficient.
I don't quite understand what you mean by your synergies comment. How does housing affect builds and teams?
With regards to the "epeen" items - housing does not need to be one of them. I fail to see how giving players their own area of the game world that they can customize to their heart's content will damage the game in any way if implemented correctly. Not only will it act as a gold-sink, but it may also lead to a much more interesting and developed economy. That, in my opinion, will be a welcomed change to the same old stuff we currently see getting exchanged. It takes the fun out of trading when there really isn't much to trade.
My major gripe with Guild Wars all these years have been the lack of personalisation. I always end up coming back to it, but I can't shake the feeling that it's become very impersonal. I'm done with all the quests I can find, as well as missions on my main PvE character. I'm working towards a number of titles too. Sometimes I'd just like a place to hang with a few of my friends or redecorate when I have some gold to spend.
So in summary, it doesn't need to be "epeen"-related at all. Look at Runes of Magic - they plan on allowing characters housing from level 1.
1. I dont expect to see any major updates concerning GW2 until well after the global launch of Aion. NCSoft is going to milk as much as they can before diverting your attention.
2. I think player housing is a TERRIBLE idea. Lets let ANet focus on the more important things and leave all the useless frill out of the picture.
3. I believe I remember reading in a dev chat somewhere that there will be large areas with creatures that are not instanced, but instanced missions will remain a staple in certain areas. Basically they are saying that they are trying to appeal to both sides of the coin on the issue.
Please elaborate on this. I'm interested to know why more customization is considered a useless feature? What's the point of GW2 if it doesn't differ from the original apart from graphics and instancing?
Custimization is great and all, but its not part of the actual gameplay. If you want to dress up a character and decorate your house all day thats all fine and dandy, but most players played guild wars for the actual meat of the game and not to make a pretty character/guild hall. If it gets added GREAT, but I would rather them utilize their resources to perfecting the combat mechanics.
Well, I'm not so sure about the housing idea. I do like the fact that Guild Wars offers guild halls to it's players, some games you don't even get that. Maybee if they added some more customizable features to the guild halls in GW2, that would be nice.
By synergies I meant that the game doesn't "feel" like the kind of game to offer housing. Mainly because I've always felt that GW is a very impersonal game while housing is a very personal thing. You will be playing with a lot of different professions and you don't ever feel like you're one specific one - or at least I do not feel that. I'd like to see just some skills and no professions at all to make one character all that will ever be necessary, add much more customization and I'd definitely see that housing would "synergies" with GW. I do agree that more personalization is need though.
That's exactly what they're trying to address in Guild Wars 2 with the increased level cap etc. They want people to focus on specific characters. I, in fact, would prefer doing that too, hence the housing idea.
well i love this game and i REALLY hope that guildwars two will be alot better... i will just be so amazed... i mean lol 50v50 thats what i heard its gonna be... no more 12 v 12 ab.s even though they're really cool
