Good, bad or ugly, Mythic has always had the integrity to stand up for what we think is the right thing to do in any situation. I don’t expect everyone to agree but I’ve never intentionally made a decision to hurt the community and/or our players and I don’t intend to start now. For the last couple of days we’ve been dealing with a very difficult and complicated situation. Sadly, there are lots of moving parts and sometimes it takes both a bit of elbow grease to get things working properly. Here’s where we stand right now. As of this morning, we deactivated a large number of accounts and ended the Head Start for our game. At the same time, we’ve been in touch with the retailers, both online and brick-and-mortar, and while we are getting great data on the number of people who will get their game today; there is still a relatively small number of people who won’t be able to get them due to shipping issues (no matter what the issues are, whose fault, etc.). So, after a lot of conversations I’m happy to announce that over the next few hours we are going to extend the grace period for all customers of Amazon, GoGamer and the EA Store till the 22nd of September. Based on the data we have gathered, these companies account for just about all the customers that were concerned about their chance to get into the game today. Thus, if you currently have an account with us, you’ll be able to get back into the game while you wait for your game to be delivered. Of course, all characters are still intact and no billing of any credit card has taken place (it couldn’t, the account still has free time on it) since the accounts were simply deactivated not wiped. We have been assured by all the brick-and-mortar retailers that they got their shipments in the stores already so if you needed to go to a store to pick up your game, the units are in stock everywhere. We will be monitoring the situation closely over the next twenty-four hours of course.
As I’ve said countless times, we will do the best we can in any situation to make it right and I hope you agree with have done so again. I thank the community for its support, especially for this rather thorny problem.

My reply in that original thread. People all over him thanking him, for actually living up to what they said they would do to begin with, rather silly in my opinion.
"Extend to the 22nd ... ^^ Ow joy! Wait, wasn't that the original date? happy
Kudos for actually living up to your own statements in the end, although I don't feel it needs thanks for first retracting it and then doing it anyway.
So what has been the point of all this. If this was retail pressure how is this now suddenly possible when it wasn't before? "

Oh jolly good for EA customers. I had mine preordered from EBgames here in Canada because the grace period was supposed to be longer, and they're only getting copies on the 25th..
if I cancel my preorder and buy a key from somewhere else I don't lose my headstart account do I?

No you can apply any version retail key from any vendor to a headstart/pre order account. You can either cancel your order or refuse the shipment(although your money won't come back until they process it), and go pick it up from a local retailer.
Here is a the main thread about the release from Mythic at WarhammerAlliance along with 48 pages of pissed off customers. I confirmed that logins were cutoff around 8am this morning and account statuses set to Inactive. Check your accounts.mythic.com status. EAStore and Amazon customers supposedly are going to be given keys to extend it. http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98606
Is there an official response to why they decided to change the dates? Looked through that link but didn't find it.
Edit- nm just read your post above, this thread moves too fast :P
My pre-order from Amazon works now, they must have found a way to figure out which ones are from those 3 stores mentioned. Cause EBgames and Gamestop were the ones that just were given away or something.

Mark posted on VNBoards late last night that it was because of pressure from retailers who were concerned the grace period would affect their sales.
i pre ordered from gamestop will we be getting grace period extended?
Check accounts.eamythic.com to see if you are inactive, but it sounds like just Amazon, GoGamer, and EAStore customers are extended.
yea its inactive ima cancell and go to the store this afternoon.
Thats what I would do. People are making this out like its a life or death situation. Is there nothing else that could be done over the weekend?
Some people are being really dramatic, but for me I am having a lan party and over half of my friends had ordered from Amazon so they couldn't play. I bought a bunch of food and alcohol and strip... Anyway they all picked up retail copies and are refusing shipment which now seems like a waste, but whatever. We will play and they will get their money back from Amazon.
Opening weekend/week , IN MY OPINION, is almost like a special event that is just amazing to be around for. Bonds are being forged, everything is new for everyone , awe and oohs all around. That's not just "a few days lost" as some people like to call it. That's a special memory you will never have.
Not to mention some people made friends already, plans to level over the weekend with people they met in game and suddenly they'r elocked out for the weekend. Those friends will have moved on and be well out of levelling range etc.
It simply should *not* have happened in my opinion, only because they have a beef to pick with a few retailers that screwed the pooch they are punishing their *actual* customers to get to them.
I have a dorkish question.. retailers around here will only be getting the game on the 25th, so I'm going to buy from direct2drive. If I already have the patched beta client I'll just be paying 50$ for the key, correct? No need to download the game again?

Yea but someone said the DVD has better textures and stuff, I don't know if the Direct2Drive download would have those too so it might be worth reinstalling either way.

sweet ima do that instead and just start playing right now. Thanks for the help.
I walked into my local Best Buy on the 18th and there were about 20 copies on the shelf. I redeemed my preorder and picked it up.
Only irritating thing was the security wrap adhesive was so damned strong that when I pulled it off the whole f#$#$#$ jacket came off. This has never happed to me before, so I let loose a long string of expletives and was kinda irritated until my wife made breakfast to cheer me up. Now my belly is full and I am sleepy.
EA/Mythic should have just re-activated ALL preorders until the beginning of next week. I just got emailed from two friends who were locked out of the game because they bought CE's on eBay after they were all sold out and haven't received them yet.
