What do trophies do?

Hello all. Total nub to WAR here. Looking into getting it (might pick one up on my way home and take WoW off my PC to make room), but something I've been seeing that I can't find any info on is trophies. I saw some people can have 4 or 5 equipped but none of them have stats. Where do you get them and what purpose do they serve? Thanks in advance.

Trophies allow you to customize the look of your toon. Certain equipment you will get will have spots that will hold trophies. You can place the trophies your toon acquires into these slots and they will appear on your toon for everyone playing to see.
Do you have any links to pictures showing these? I haven't seen anything on characters that really stands out as a way to look unique.
Yeah, there are some that are noticable. I think my Zealot got a shoulder candle trophy it hung down from the shoulder armor (kind of cool).... then there are some that you really can't see what so ever. I had a Chosen I think that gets an axe trophy for belt?? I literally spent 20 mins trying to adjust it left and right to see what it was.
After the 20 minutes, I think I found it. It's just a little white brand looking thing of an axe drawn into the belt? Looked like dirt on it lol.
